  1. That's all sounding very positive! Love that her RR brother is so good.
  2. Thanks TSD - probably a case of Jack of all trades, master of none - but we've been having heaps of fun - and my clever kids seem to manage, and we're certainly never bored. You've had an excellent year yourself - don't know how you do it with your studies as well - that's a tough gig on its own (not that I ever did it .. Masters by classwork was enough for me  .
  3. My order has shipped! The LED collar was out of stock, so they refunded that, and they'll ship one other thing which won't be in until the end of the month ..can't remember which one that was ROFL. Now to see how long it takes....
  4. Phew! That was fun - can you tell I'm just a little bit proud of my kids - and so grateful to all those super trainers who have helped us on DOL and IRL. Last trials for the year a couple of weeks ago and happy to say the feral agility girl, Kirra, managed to finish her RAE ..the second dog in Tasmania to do so. Lil big man Rory, not to be outdone, finished his RAE2 .. also first in Tasmania. Rory has enjoyed trialling in UD ..though very much still a work in progress. Happy with his attitude though. He passed his TSD1, and has had lots of fun trialling in agility ... Still a missile but getting quite a bit less misguided, especially in jumping ..and I'm learning to trust him..now have to get fitter so i still have breath and brain to steer him at the end of a mad dash :-). Miss Kirra is loving urban tracking, though she made one mistake in each of her attempts at Test 5. She's still happily running agility..finished ADO6 recently. Both her vets have said she can keep running as long as she wants to ..she gets regular maintenance massage and acupuncture if necessary. A fun year with my two ..liking forward to next year.
  5. Love the intense look on his face - trying to save his isqueak from drowning.
  6. Good call, Kavik. Pivot bowl/disc, platforms .
  7. It's fine as long as you don't have bees or European wasps around. Then it's a real worry. Do you have a paddle pool of any kind. Most of the cheap shops have some for under $40. Or you can get a kid's plasstic sandpit (deeper than a clam shell) for around $40 sometimes.
  8. If you go to the CCCQ website http://cccq.org.au/Show/Trial-Dates.aspx, you can download the list of show and trial dates CCCQ show and trial dates. The ETs are in the middle of the year - because of temperature (can't be held if temp goes above 24.) If you and the dog are not already members of/registered with CCCQ, you would need to do that - and then they should be able to give you information about how to contact the clubs. The schedules with details about entering should appear in the Dog World mag - or will be on the CCCQ website. Hope that helps.
  9. You're certainly not alone there, silentchild :D
  10. Sure is!!!! Hope the CR crew are ready for the Aussie onslaught.
  11. I have tried a range too..like Cool Champions, but the Shammy Cool material stays cool way longer, and is lighter. But the ones i have would need to be altered to stop them moving round so much ..even for normal..non working use. I have one of the Clean Run chamois ones too, but haven't tried it in "anger". Had the Shammy Cool one on Rory right up till he went into the ring at the rally trial last week, and almost used it for the Honour.
  12. Just saw this article on what I find a great site. Might be useful ... probably would have been more useful earlier :). "What to do when potty training fails"
  13. Yay..brags for each of mine today at Rally trial in sunny Launceston. After bombing Ex B in the nothing..totally feral, pasted Adv though., Miss Kirra managed to listen enough to get the last double Q she needed for RAE title. Not bad for my ferall agility girl who doesn't do obedience. And Mr Rory worked quite nicely (though not at his best) for 2 double Qs. The morning one finished his RAE2 ..good boy..
  14. Can vouch for these..(thanks ness) ... but get yourself some jump cups from Clean Run ..will save you heaps of time and aggravation. ;-).
  15. That was lovely, RS. She was having a ball! Just what we want to see. :)
  16. OMG I hadn't realised that poor Zero had been bitten. How scary for you - thank goodness he survived. From what I've heard, it can be quite a long recovery process - girl I know here had her GSD bitten a couple of years ago - think it was several months she had to restrict the dog's activity and then gradually increase it. The good news, is that the dog did fully recovery, though it took a while. Fingers crossed it will be the same for Zero.
  17. RS - Sounds like Mr Rory in agility. Sounds like you and the three girls had lots of fun - and a lot to be really happy about. TSD - so jealous about your lessons. That's what I really need ... well - any chances to train on the equipment would be good, let's face it - but with a trainer would be even better. Trying to organise something in the summer - at least a few times would be better than none. :)
  18. Ack - just wrote long post - thought I'd posted twice - deleted - all gone Basically - went like this to TSD and the kids. Nice way to finish the trialling year. And TO - you should be proud of your girl - getting to Masters in such a short time is huge! Last agility trial of the year for us last Saturday in beautiful weather at Launceston. No Qs for either of mine, but happy with a lot of what we did - and especially happy that my little old feral Kirra ran 7 runs happily, and pulled up fine. (Pulled out of the last one - a tricky JDM - thought there was too much chance that tired dog and tired handler might end up with an injury. Plus we'd just gone 1.4 seconds over in JDO (my fault - trust your dog .) The misguided missile, Rory, was less misguided, and was starting to listen around the contacts a bit more - even did 6 weave poles before the excitement got to much forhim to maintain his rhythm  . Need to teach him that the tyre is actually a jump obstacle, not a barge through . On the plus side, he's running his lines nicely, and I'm learning to trust him, and just try to concentrate on getting to where I need to be for the next piece of handling. (Need to get fitter!) Think you have a point TSD Poor boy has had zero agility training for weeks - too busy doing other disciplines and trialling. Anyway - for your amusement - here's his fourth run for the day - my 10th - Novice Jumping - 2 bars down - my fault - brain and lungs were too stuffed to give him the verbal directional he needed to make the turn onto the jump before the tyre - then he lost faith in me and turned back before the end. Poor lad. He needs a younger handler :p
  19. Nope ... you're not the only one  ... although I feel quite economical about mine now .
  20. This is what I do as well :) And me. And I would certainly not be happy about an instructor (or anyone else) intervening in that circumstance, where there was no contact. I would probably be moving my own dog away, and saying to the puppy's owner something like "Please don't allow your puppy to come into another dog's space without invitation - it could get the puppy hurt." The people in my puppy class at club get the message loud and clear ... I advise them to do what they should also be teaching their kids to do - ask before making a close approach :) .
  21. I hear ya, minimax ..... but I'm going to anyway
  22. kallistar - I'm hoping to have something ready for the restricted to breed comp at the BC Nationals at the end of March since we'll be over for that anyway. Harder trying to work out something for Novice. :D After that - not sure. Hope to catch up bfore too long.
  23. Happy birthday dear little girl. We have loved following your progress, and seeing the comfort and joy you have brought to your family. :)
  24.  See - it's getting to you Ptolomy Seriously - that's nice that you've entered the semi-retired one again. Video would be nice. After the last agility trial for the year (this weekend) and the last rally and Obedience (next weekend), I'll be able to do some serious DWD work - hopefully -and school holidays will help - though a lot of time will have to be devoted to grass attack. Forgot to say - good luck to BC4ME and Chook in Toowoomba. And I'm like you - I love heelwork now - well, with Rory, anyway - he loves prancing around showing off, bless him. Ed. cause senior moments happen and I forget things
  25. That's absolutely wonderful, Sue - so very pleased to hear this. You and Waldo are really on fire. Ready to start the long haul to RAE now.
