  1. You can download the rules from the ANKC website. The average pace is 10 kph, but you need to practise working faster than that, and also a bit slower. Obviously you'll start with shorter distances and lower speeds. And check that it's legal to bike with a dog on your planned routes .. varies from state to state.
  2. Happy birthday little Odie. You will never realise what a super lucky little girl you are to have some to live with such a great owner ... not only in taking care of you, but in sharing that experience with DOLers.
  3. That sounds like the bike my local bike shop advised for me. Found it very comfortable - easy to ride - and not too heavy - so easier to put on the bike rack. Hope yours is as lucky for you as mine was for me. I still use mine occasionally to have a ride with the dogs.
  4. I'd suggest contacting the Dogs NSW office .. they should be able to send you a book of forms (for a price ????). Victoria now has a performance entry form like the agility one I believe .. that you can do on your computer. Not sure if NSW has one, but the office might be able to tell you.
  5. What a sad situation. It's bad whenever, but worse with a young dog. I second the advice you've got from others - love her lots, be kind to yourself - and be grateful when the time comes that you can do the final kindness for her. I would say - think about what you wantto do with her when she's gone - burial or cremation. I've found it helps to know this ahead of time. You could think of starting to do a scrapbook of memories now - it could be part of your special time with her - telling her the story of each photo or memento. It will hurt - and like most of us, you will tear up in the future thinking of her when you read similar posts - but it's what us crazy dog people just have to get through. DOL is an amazingly supportive community for grieving dog people.
  6. At this stage, your best bet would be to contact the ANKC controlling body in the State your breeder lived in - if NSW, then it would be Dogs NSW. They should be back in business after the break now. Dogs NSW website. They should at least be able to tell you, or help you find out, whether the litter was ever registered with an ANKC member body.
  7. Check your emails for the one that says Package shipped to you. In that, you'll find two web addresses for tracking - one is USPS, and the other is a site called www.endicia.com - that;'s the one I use - just copy and paste that address, which will have the package number, into your browser. My supplementary packages are showing as in transit from NY on 6th January. Probably held up with airline delays because of the big cold now.
  8. ?????? Breeder is listed in DOL. And is on the GR Club Vic Breeders list To the OP - I would be contacting the breeder to see if you could set something up.
  9. Yo should be able to see where the parcel is by following up the tracking - the link will be on the email that says your package was shipped. I love checking to see where the parcels have got to! :)
  10. to Clean Run Customer Service - emailed them yesterday evening about the mislabelled Chamois Cool coat - and telling them I'd made a mistake in the size I'd ordered - should have ordered XLarge, and wondering (humbly) if they could change the size of the replacement I was hoping they'd send Email back from them - apolgising for the defenctive product - they would replace it - and with the X Large. I have to pay postage on the return on the mislabelled one, but they will then refund that (they don't have return labels for international mail - they were most apologetic about it.) And the replacement coat has already been shipped. :D
  11. That was so nice of you to get that present for yor bweautiful cat, SC. Reckon you should send that photo to CR :D
  12. My main order arrived today (shipped 20th Dec.) - and no strange white powder, thank goodness. But - the Large Chamois Cool coat that I'd ordered for Rory was in a pack labelled Large - but wasn't - reckon it's a Small as it's much smaller than the Medium I already had for Kirra. I've emailed them to see what they can do about it - probably won't hear back till after the weekend though. sheena has come to the rescue about the LED Visiglo collars that they couldn't et stock of ... thanks so much, sheena. My big ticket item (apart form the cool coat) was a Fitpaws Donut and Donut holder. Got some more spare soft bite and flippy floppy flyers cos he LOVES those - and Kirra likes them as tug toys.
  13. Oh my goodness - how terribly sad. Yes, like lots of others, I followed that story. Doesn't seem fair, does it.
  14. I keep the food in a train pouch on my right side. When I am treating her with food she still works well she just doesn't work when I wasn't allowed to give her treats while training but since I can see that not working I will just start making her work more to get her treats and see how we go Ah ha! I hide the treats in small sealed containers behind trees etc - ask for a very short heel pattern (even 5 steps to begin with), mark the correct behaviour and race them to the secret stash - make it so they never know where or when the next treat is coming from. Keep it fun and light - obedience trialling should be about how much fun you are to be with in your dog's eyes. And in building up duration, small and then varying increments. And don't forget to take your training on the road - not full run outs - just bits and pieces, with and without food and toys. And try to build in play/tricks/physical rewards, that you can take into the ring with you - e.g. hand targets, leg weaves... these can all be used between exercises and help to keep the dog and you up and engaged. Not so necessary in CCD, but great to have in your tool box especially for higher classes.
  15. Way to go ness and Kenz - great way to finish a hard year.
  16. Ptolomy -... down to double digit isqueaks - almost a disaster. My lil big man still has the original ones we got from you from that first order  . Ny first package cleared through customs/quarantine in Oz a couple of days ago - mind you, could take another week to get doewn here to Tas. The other one with whatever it was that was out of stock, shipped yesterday.
  17. @RA - loved the ninja runs. She's having such a good time. And the Lab girls ... @DD - poor Elsie. Hope all the treatments work well - are you like us and in a bit of an off season ... so she can have a good rest.
  18. .. but as has been said, it's probably better to have a clear diagnosis (and to have ruled ouit anything more sinister). So gald she is back to her old self - long may that continue.
  19. Yes, ferry and accommodation all booked. DWD routines are still on the back burner. Holidays now, so a little bit more time, but busy trying to iikeep the growth on my acre block under control. Doing some online obedience training courses too, one with a working spot, so obedience training is happening..Hope to get some agility training done too ...busy holidays..and Rory has shows on New Years Day and mid January. Problem of having multi discipline dogs :-).
  20. :D And to you kallistar. My guys have had a lovely day chilling at home - some hose play this afternoon to cool them off. Now to get serious about doing some training and thinking .......
  21. Bummer. But it sounds like you are doing all the right htings - and as you say, it's good that your household is quiet at the moment - particularly since you said that she was pretty aroused before the first one. The only good thing is that she's more likely to get on to meds more quickly than if she was only having random ones. Hopefully you'll be able to get her on a meds regime that suits her.
  22. Not sure which end of the Gold Coast you're in, ot how far you're willing to drive, but you might check out VIP Dog Club ..Yatala I think. And not sure what classes All Paws Paradise at Pimpama operates ..be worth checking it out.
  23. BCC so very sorry to hear this - you must have been out of your mind with worry. Epilepsy is not as common among Border Collies here in Australia as it is in the US, I think - and there are some great resources on the net. Here are a couple that you might find useful as background link This one links to a support/discussion group link And I think this one is regarded as pretty reliable link dancinbcs here on DOL is a great source of information about Border Collies. It might be worth flicking her a PM. I think for dogs the advice is the same as for humans - try to keep yourself calm, keep the dog and yourself comfortable and uninjured, and just speak soothingly until the worst is past. (If the seizure persists more than a few minutes, then straight to vet as emergency.) The dog may be somewhat vague and disoriented for a time after the seizure.
