Conformation, Rally, Agility, then a weekend off, then agility weekend, then obedience and rally ..... my goal ..get through to the end of the year ????.

Interesting, gila. Haven't weighed mine since the course started. I'd be going by the ribs feel test .. that should tell you weather it's muscle. Yes, planning to do part 2 if I get the time right and set the alarm for 3.00am on the right day.

Congratulations dezzyno.1. Awesome! You'll love Track and Search .. the dogslove it. Rory got his TSD title last weekend. Kirra bombed the first turn on her Test 6 night track .. but then was great .. of course. Great that you're doing instructing.

Don't have the bitches in season complication (my girl is desexed), but my entire boy has not been a problem .. came to me at 10 weeks and lives in the house .. and when we travel, we stay in dogs inside dog friendly accommodation.. He's nearly 6.

Yes .. thanks for providing such comprehensive information. Sounds like you've really covered the bases. Wish you all the best. Should improve the lives of home alone dogs ????.

Rory agrees ... some enabler on DOL introduced me to them .. Rory has a 6 squeaker python ???? ... more roll eyes from Kirra.

Introducing Malamute Puppy To New Playmates
Tassie replied to ellejaytee's topic in General Dog Discussion
This. The most important thing for life in general is to be able to walk pleasantly and politely in the vicinity of other dogs - and ideally in the company of other dogs - while still paying attnetion to the handler. -
My two love the Skinnesz ones from CR - but then they're not destroyers. The Petstages gator and similar are awesome - but be warned - they have a two tone aqueak and are LOUD - my BC boy loves his - my girl just rolls her eyes when he starts squeaking them. But yes - home made plaited tugs with knots in the end - I've done them with 4 strand plait from remnants of faux fleecew - very soft so better than rope - and good for puppies. And the knots should substitute for round bits.

Thanks for the link espinay - great article to have handy. And kirislin - I'm a huge fan of what you're doing - parallel (or in your case, in line) leash walking - staying sub threshhold. They pretty quickly learn to relax - if only with that group of dogs. (I had a BC boy who seemed to have to learn each dog individually (where's the roll eyes emoticon gone.)

So glad it went well. And Falco is absolutely gorgeous. :)

What a tough time for you ... but if she is well at the moment, that's a good thing.. and the comforting thing is that she doesn't know she's ill. They live day by day, and it's a bonus to have a bit more good time with her. The DOL family is with you.

It's a good idea, but durability could be an issue. One of my FB friends found the Foobler did not stand up to a Mali challenge, Husky

Have sent you a PM, Jemmy. :)

You have to be happy with Miss Jazz this year, piper, and you and Cinna are going to have lots of fun.

There is quite a variety of harnesses used. As DiscoDobe says they should attach at the back, make it easy for the dog to get its head down, and not restrict the range of motion of the shoulders. And should be easy to get on and off. They range from a very simple figure of eight harness to a more complex, purpose designed one, like the new one from Black Dog. Black Dog My Border Collie boy uses a Comfortflexharness and my BC girl has one of the new Black Dog ones, which I really like.

It wasn't a particular goal ... cos I just tend to have generic goals of 'do the best I can' ???? .... but have to brag on my lil big man who passed his Track & Search Test 3 today to gain his TSD (Track and Search Dog) title. Only one title for us today, though ... Miss Kirra and I blew our first go at her night urban track. We still have one more T&S trial .. in 3 weeks , so hopefully I will be able to read her better than :)

That's such positive news. He may never be an absolute angel, or the life of the party kind of dog (many of us have to be careful in realtion to dog to dog interactions), but he will be picking up the more confident vibes from you, and it should now be an upwards spiral (with maybe the odd blip - but you will have tools and confidence, and back up to deal with those.) Well done! Here's a link to a great article I just read this morning, which I think you wi;ll be able to put into practice now. I'm a great believer in teaching dogs, especially smart dogs :) , lots of 'stuff'. Have fun.

That list is getting whittled down very nicely CaseyKay. :D Well done on the RA silentchild - now the long road to RAE :D . And keep on having fun with the trick training - that will all come in very handy.

Q.1 Yes Q.2 Yes if possible - though I have purchased a pup from interstate - but from a well recommended breeder - knew the pedigree and photos of parents etc. Q.3 Yes - living conditions and way litter is raised - lots of interaction with people, and other animals.

Bought On Limited But Breeder Will Change To Mains?
Tassie replied to miss2's topic in General Dog Discussion
No - dog/puppy can't be shown unless/until it is on the Main Register. As to why it would be done .... variety of reasons - in my case I was after a performance dog, so happy to have him on Limited - but he was show quality, and I had someone who could mentor me in the show ring, so it was the breeder's decision to put him on Main, so he could be shown. (As it happened, he was the first from 3 MR pups in the litter to get his Australian Champion title :D .) -
Bought On Limited But Breeder Will Change To Mains?
Tassie replied to miss2's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes - it's permitted - but always the breeder's call. Will sometimes be done when the breeder and puppy buyer have esteablished a sound relationship - and will depend on whether the breeder thinks the dog is a good representative of the breed. -
There's a Scottish Terrier Club of Victoria .. would be worth contacting them, I'd think. And the suggestion of going to the Melbourne Royal on the day they're being judged is a good one .. or to another show.

 :cheer: What a wonderful achievement. Huge congratulations, and the very best of luck for Haddon and the 8.

It depends a bit on the dog gila. Rory actually has more or less learned to stand on it, but it's only just long enough .. his paws are right in the corners. Kirra is not quite as long as Rory, so she should be able to stand on it ... if she wasn't so giggly and impatient . Your balance board sounds good. :)
