Safe travels. :)

Disclaimer - I don't have any special knowledge - - but FWIW I've had no problems with 2 Border Collies using Advantix (2 weekly) while they're on Sentinel Spectrum when I travel in potential or actual tick areas on the mainland. One time was when my boy was only 6 months old. Just be aware that Advantix is lethal to cats - so I would not be applying it to your dog if you have a cat in the house, especially if they play together. I drive north usually, so I put the Advantix on as I'm leaving. Also be aware that Advantix like everything else, is not 100% effective, so you still need to do a daily physical tick search. Hope that helps. :) ETF typo

New Organisation For Pedigree Registration
Tassie replied to Kavik's topic in General Dog Discussion
ROFL - well, the Wegies do come in all sorts of colours And they do tend to think they're dogs :D . There are registries for cats that may be able to help. Some encourage new breeds and have registries for experimental breedings etc. Sorry, Steve - that was a private joke. AFAIK RJ's cat is a registered purebred (with the main 'official' registry - as mine are  -

quote name='Cleo's Corgwyn' timestamp='1413292066' post='6579124'] ACT Judges training program are hosting our first mock competition in Canberra on Sunday 2 Nov. Once we have a decent panel of judges trained, we hope to able to start holding our own competitions in Canberra next year. We have a great venue now, an Indoor Archery range (its more than 30mx 40m, so plenty of space for a full size ring and sports rubber flooring which is lovely to dance on) That's all very exciting, CC. The venue sounds great, too. DWD is on the back burner for me and mine at the moment - full on with Rally, Obeidence and Agiltiy here, now the Track & Search season has finished. No rest for the wicked. -

So pleased you get to keep enjoying her some more - a tribute to your care for her.

Happy retirement, Scoota, you clever boy and master trainer of your hooman . Definitely one of the legends of the Australian obedience world .. and a great role model team. Even the occasional bloopers have given comfort to us wannabes :D

Nice brags there. Dock diving looks like such fun. Your kids had a great Royal Ptolemy You must be thrilled with all of them .. but maybe especially Naughty NiƱa ... how well did she cope with the noise etc. Not surprised that the Novice standard is high over there ... home of the great og trainer, I reckon. If only the weather was more moderate .... :D

Hey biker girl. Hopefully these links will work ok. Jim Tasha Hope these work :D -
I believe the AVA - or maybe just the Vet Board in WA - is running a program to assist with what they found was a major problem..

So very true. How fortunate we are that she was so generous in sharing her insights in such an easily accessible way. It's so important that her legacy lives on.

I just posted about this in the Training forum. What a huge loss. She gave so much to companion animals and their owners.

So envious about the seminar. They were in Melbourne too, but I just couldn't organise my life to get over there. Hope they come back again. And well done to all those who were successful. You'll have fun being in the judge's seat. :D -
My lil big man Rory celebrated his 6th birthday yesterday by gaining his first Novice Agility Q - 48.38 secs on a 72 second course - 1st place. And he just missed another one when he crashed through the tyre which was the last obstacles - just had two much speed and not enough training. No other Qs - but lots of positives from a weekend of trialling - held all his start lines, and only missed one contact - the first A frame of the weekend. A couple of 1 fault JDX runs too. Miss Kirra at 12.75 had a blast all weekend - ran lots - no Qs, but some very near misses. 0.5 seconds over time in Excellent Gamblers, and 3 seconds over in Masters Jumping, and a few 1 fault runs. Best of all, she's pulled up fine this morning - and the judge's comment was that she was running fine, and obviously enjoying herself. She owes me nothing - but if she wants to keep running, I'll keep paying her entries :-)

:cheer: Wonderful results, biker girl. You guys look as though you're really enjoying the DWD. BTW, when are you coming back here  ETF typo -
OMG - you certainly deserve all the sympathy we can give you. How terrifying for you all. Here's hoping that poor Bunter is going to recover quickly. How kind were those volunteer gardeners to provide that transport. There are some wonderful people out there.

You must be so relieved. What good news. Best wishes for continued good recovery.

In at Gold - now propping eyes open after 3.00 am and 4.00 am registration times.

Heartworm Preventives And Testing
Tassie replied to CountryGirl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes - should have made that clear - most important to have any dog (over 6 months I think is the recommendation) tested before giving any preventative.) My current guys have been on the preventative since they wer little, but the previous ones, who didn't start travelling until they were older, were tested before they started. It's a quick and not too expensive blood test - and I'd do it if there was any doubt. -
Heartworm Preventives And Testing
Tassie replied to CountryGirl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
sheena, I use Sentienl Spectrum, because it covers hydatid tapeworm (the required chemical is called praziquantel), so I need it for when the dogs come back into Tasmania. But I tend to do the same as DeltaCharlie, and spread the doses out when we're not travelling. If I was living or spending time in a high heartworm area, I would stick more to the monthly schedule. Sentinel doesn't deal with adult fleas - its action is stopping breeding. If there are adult fleas on a dog, you have to deal with that separately. (Touch wood, haven't had to). Oh, and for the BCs it's fine, but if you have someone with Aussie Shepherds, Collie Roughs or others with a possible genetic mutation (MDR1) which makes them susceptible to ivermectin and a number of other drugs, it would be advisable to get them tested for that before starting on any of these. -
No mention of blue in the Amerian Kennel Club standard either, or black tri. And google throws up a lot of 'rare' blue BB listings for America - and looks like one of these or more might be 'rare' American import.

Hi Jess. This is the first time Deb has taught the class for FSDA. I would say your best bet is to email her and ask. Tell her what you've been doing already. I had a reasonable background - probably not as much as you - but the material in the lectures in the first one was well organised and useful, I thought. gila - yes - I'm going to try for gold again - I need the discipline to keep me on track. Mind you, I also want to do another gold - and of course it's a busy time of our trialling year ... and then there's work ... but hey - what the heck.
