  1. Not enabling or anything, Perse? Actually, there are some good deals there . There's an airline type small dog/cat type crate with a top door as well as front door that my cats really like travelling in - $20 instead of the normal $50+ if I have the sizing right. Would have got it like a shot if I hadn't already bought the second one I needed.
  2. Mine have been 'helping' me water the garden this morning - town water (though I do have 30 000 litres of tank water for emergencies). They are now damp (as I am  ) and tired and sleeping inside on the floor beside me. They are on the carpet at the moment, but will move onto the slate if they get too warm. Haven't broken out the clam shell yet - one of the problems with that for me is that bees drown in it .
  3. It sounds as though the vet wasn't just trying to make you feel better. Some horrible things can become apparent really fast. Never sure whether this is better or worse - probably worse for the humans, but better for the dog. So sorry for your loss - and especially at this time of year. He looks as though he was a lovely happy boy.
  4. Poor puppy Do you have access to a holistic/acupuncture/massage type vet - might be worth a try. Or canine physio?
  5. :D The whole cast - and audience ... lovely. ... :D
  6. What a great mental video that created  Lovely story. Poor Goose - he clearly forgot that "Cats Rule"
  7. So very pleased to read this. You're obviously doing a great job, and your dear little girlie (who is unbelievably cute, by the way, :) ) should do really well. Good idea to take her for the nurse appointment - but bear in mind she could be a bit stressy, so try to keep happy for her - high value - like roast chicken or something, as long as she's allowed to have treats. Good luck.
  8. :cheer: That's a pretty darned good effort from you and the kids given what else you've been cramming into your year. Great job with your girls, and a special WTG for the little Pippa.
  9. That is a huge brag, OSO - what a great effort by you and Rommi to get back in the ring, and be able to spend a weekend competing in a variety of disciplines, and pull up not only comfortable, but successful.
  10. Poor little girl. But don't overthink it. She's tired, disoriented a bit and in pain - did they give her any pain relief - if not, you should probably get some for her. (Often they'll give a 24 hour injection after surgery.) Somewhere quiet and warm and comfy for her to sleep it off - access to water, and keep an eye on her to see if/when she needs to go out to toilet. Otherwise, I'd leave her alone. Different dogs respond differently to surgery, so just be calm and do the same sort of routine you would normally do - don't try to fuss her if she doesn't want it.
  11. Denise Fenzi has some great ones, and she's just done a series of specific elements of heelwork (Turns, halts, etc) on her blog; http://denisefenzi.com/ Kamal Fernandez also has some great videos on youtube (he's brilliant to train with too) Zig and I are doing her Precision Heeling course right now - so much fun! Love the Fenzi Academy courses. Have done Denise's and currently doing Kamal Fernandez's FCI Heeling. Went to a seminar with Kamal a couple of years ago - still working through what I've learnt in all these. So nice to have learnt to love heeling (thanks to some great instructors and great examples - especially Ptolomy and Bedazzledx2 :D .)
  12. She's always done 'normal' obedience with her dogs - Levi was Top Obedience Dog in UK in 2013, and in March he was part of the British team in the International Obedience comp - placed 1st in that. And this year I think it's 13 'tickets' he's won - winning 1st place in a designated comp gives the team a place in the following year's Crufts Obedience comp. I think it's 3 of hers that Mary has qualified for next year - at least 2.
  13. My first dog as an adult was a 1U1D eared BCxKelpie. Like everyone else here - I liked the way she was - part of her character - and when both ears would stand up (wind assisted) she actually looked a different dog - and not so cute. You and your boy will have lots of fun together. :D
  14. Mary Ray and Levi - this was Crufts 2013
  15. ROFL. Even Dogs Tas accepts a typewritten list with Plese see attached list written on the actual form :D , RAE is almost as bad - 20 Qs for each one - Rory just finished his RAE4 - think I'll stop there. :) . Mind you, we do have to show them the original Q cards for any interstate Qs. Photocopies aren't enough.
  16. You mean you haven't got it all computerised Pity about Bass Strait.
  17. love the pictures, Kirislin. I had a similar one of my Kirra when she was younger inside the netting over the raspberries that I had then. And I love the way dogs peel their lips back when they're eating blackberries - and how they know to go for the ripe ones. My first BC boy was known as Banana Dog in the palliative care centre he visited as a therapy dog. His party trick was peeling his own banana as he ate it. He's carefully break off the stalk end, then eat his way down, bending the peel back as he ate. It used to be a great hit with patients and staff. Kirislin - I feel your pain - my current BC gets the low hanging fruit, while the parrots get the higher ones. If I'm lucky, I get a few apples, apricots and pears from the middle levels. I've had to stop Rory many times after he's brought in his third after dinner Granny Smith. I used to worry a bit about the stones in the apricots, but the dogs seem to be able to spit those out quite easily. My two love a variety of fruits and vegetables. Cucumber is one of their favourites.
  18. +1 - she is a lucky girl to have such caring and thoughtful humans - and great veterinary care. May she continue happy for as long as possible. She will be missed on DOL when the time comes.
  19. LOTS of cake I'd think ... and maybe :cheer: You and Ziggy Definitely awesome!!!
  20. There are some lovely places to walk around the Southern Highlands area - Bowral, Berrima, Moss Vale. Snakes will be a worry at this time of year, but there are some good wide paths. Can't remember the exact locations - but can remember one along a river near Moss Vale. (Could be Bong Bong Common, along the Wingecarribee River to Bowral.
  21. Thanks for these Mrs RB. She did talk about training the deaf dog in answer to one of the quesitons, I think - can't remember what she said - I was mutlitasking at work :D .
  22. Wow! Go you! You will love it Tassie!!!! Well you know who enabled that, don't you TSD . The stars aligned - retirement the week after it starts - means I should actually be able to spend time working on it - and heaven knows I need it now we're in Excellent in both Agility and Jumping . And a proud enabler I am! Congratulations on your retirement I can't think how you're going to fill in all that spare time Have the pool noodles at the ready. And 3 of Jahzzy Agility's lovely wing jumps ready - no tunnel yet - might have to do that at club when I get to triple doubles in about 6 months time  - I don't have a lot of flat area at home. Caught about half of the call this morning - moonlighting at work - actually I found a couple of jobs I could do sitting at the computer but not having to use the screen for work - multitasking rocks! Yes - I'll really struggle to fill time - apart from catching up on several year's worth of "jobs to do round the house and 'garden'" - 4 disciplines to train dogs in .... .
