  1. Brilliant. That's one seriously well trained dog - loved that the handling was so precise that the dog had no questions - awesome.
  2. Your best bet would be up north somewhere - the best agility training is based in Launceston. (And there is a Cavalier training up there :) ). That area is also a good spot for fishing of various sorts. Don't know what the real estate market is like up there (I'm down south). but the distances are not all that great in most parts of Tasmania. Have fun looking - :D
  3. Good update BC Crazy. Paws crossed it's a one off.
  4. Agree with the others. IMHO, relationship between handler and dog is key to all dog sports - so I like to let puppies be puppies. Puppyhood is all too short - you want to really enjoy it to the max. Your pup is actually learning the whole time, so your formal lessons are better off being incidental ones - and lots of mix and match, like kikopup - so not just the formal obedience stuff. If the pup has a good relationship with you and is used to learning all kinds of stuff as games, the formal stuff pretty much falls into place.
  5. Sad to hear this, Darien. Sitting here beside me is my BC Kirra, who will be 13 at the end of next week. Touch wood, she is in good nick at the moment, but the signs of ageing - other than just the grey hairs - are setting in. Your post reminds me to treasure however much time she has with me - hopefully a lot - but we never know. Hope you can work out a good management routine for your lovely Kiska.
  6. He's certainly looking as though he's getting pretty comfortable with his new configuration. Loved the weaving - bless him. Great update. :)
  7. I know a couple of people here with Welshies. They seem reasonably chilled out dogs - might be a bit on the barky side, but on 5 acres that's probably not so much an issue - though containment would be important. The ones I know are involved in tracking, and in one case, agility as well - he was a funny boy - dominated by his nose, but could do amazing jumps from a more or less standing start with his head down  . From my observation a little bit aloof with people other than their handlers. I would say definitely an independent streak from what I've seen, but trainable.
  8. Nice one sheena. Had to laugh about the homework. I'm taking an Agility Foundation class this session at club, and have been providing homework handouts for them as well. Actually - I'm not organised enough to have them ready to hand out in class - mainly cos I'm still tweaking, and we don't always get through in class what I think I might. So they have to wait a day or so to find their homework on our club secret FB page, or via email :-) Think the waiting might be part of the fun. stressmagnet - so glad the 'parking is working for you and Ernie. We use it in a lot of our classes - the dogs 'get it' very quickly, and it gives them some chill time in an otherwise longish lesson. Really helps their settling and their impulse control I think.
  9. That's simply grand, SG :D (sorry - your screen name seemed just too perfect for such a good outcome.)
  10. Great minds .... Eza - have you tried any other supplements with your girl? My guys both have RoseHip Canine Vital - BCs almost 13 and 6 - I've been happy with how they're doing on that. They have their fish oil/vit E as well.
  11. Are you sure you aren't thinking about the GoDaddy ad? That one shows a puppy that falls off a truck, gets back to the breeder which turns out to be a puppy mill . . . Oh I'm not sure someone was just talking about it, maybe that's the one they meant. Apparently it was the GoDaddy ad that was objected to and pulled. Pup was apparently unrestrained in the back of a pick-up too.
  12. Phew - that was scary for a while - glad it ended happily :D . Beautiful.
  13. Oops - computer trouble = double post - sorry
  14. Mine get them too - but check that the fish oil tablets have vitamin E with them - some do, some don't - my holistic vet advises to be sure you're giving vitamin E along with fish oil. ETA Snap. yonjuro :D
  15. Sending good thoughts for you and Danny - good that he has come through the operation well.
  16. Baby Zig! Agree with TSD. And yes - would start changing your cat's arrangements now. And looking for baby gates as well as crate and pen
  17. Farewell Jazz. You put up an amazing fight with the help and love of your humans, and now your Dad has been strong enough to do the final kindness for you. Many tears will be shed for you tonight.
  18. Poor Louis - he's had a tough deal, but he's a real battler. Just wanted to say a friend had to have an eye removed from one of her Cavs - went really well, and healed nicely - dog is coping brilliantly and quickly returned to obedience and rally. Fingers crossed things will go well for Louis next week.
  19. And another one who loves her K9+ crates. And I've always found the service really good. Thinking of colour, the Forest Green might look good in the house - depending on your colour scheme. ET add another comment
  20. So very sorry that you have had to farewell your lovely boy. It's such a hard thing to do, even though we know in our heads that it is a kindness to our loved companions. I hope you find comfort in knowing that your lad is no longer suffering, and that you will be able to bring to mind the good times you had with him. And know that a whole family of DOLers are right there with you - with tears in our eyes.
  21. Me too please ! And the really good thing is that you only need one bed!! Delightful dogs. Thanks for those nice comments Labradore,I love red (or fawn) boxers. I think Henry is quite pleased with his bits!! Love the way they are the focal point in that photo!! I have to creep up on them with the camera, if they see me coming, they get up to greet me .... so I just snap what I see!! That has to be the photo of the year!!!! And I do mean 2015 - would be hard to top the bucketful of Boxers.
  22. BlackHawk - Chicken & Rice - disc shaped approx. 1.5 cm; Lamb & Rice - disc shaped - slightly thicker - approx. 0.75 cm. Can't remember the Fish size. Lamb & Rice cat kibble - star shaped flat - approx. 0.5 cm. Not greasy or smelly - apparently highly palatable according to the Border Collies and the Norwegian Forest cats - who enjoy crunching their way through the dog food as a treat. (The Border Collies aren't a reliable guide to palatability - they are very easy to please :D .)
