And I've got a few of these on video Not on video (there weren't any then ;) ) but my first BC boy was a forger - and we didn't really know about rear end awareness in those days. His tactic for getting out of the way in a left turn was to do a round-the-back left turn - very slickly - used to make me laugh as I'd wonder whether judges would believe what they were seeing. He was still doing it in UD signal heeling. @ Tiggy - lovely keen boys there. Goodness the Bear man is growing fast

Thanks Ptolomy - will pass that advice on to her too. Knew I could rely on the WA gurus - why is Tasmania so far away :D
-
Rory says - go little sis. She looks lovely, AD - but then she would :D
-
Thanks bedazzledx2. And what about a skip sit in front? Same sort of thing? (I think it's the fronts she is more concerned about.)
-
Hey gurus! A question for you. Came up in a little training group we've got going here now (which is great BTW). One of the group wanted some tips on teaching the skip sit - scoot sit - you know the one where the dog plants front feet and scoots the bum in to a lovely upright sit. Her GSD bitch tends to slump a bit. I said I would consult the DOL oracle.

Nope RS - only Associate Register. I know the one from Tassie you mean - the blonde LOL - she's a fun dog. The two from NSW that I think Skip was talking about - came down to compete in Tasmania last year - the Campbell Town Show has a Smithfield 'show' as well as an ANKC show, and an agility trial. Here you go - for those interested in Smithies (the southern version ) Ag.Ch Cricket

And I know what you mean about the concentration - Rory still has it - but then he's a boy with boy brains Love it!

:D That's fantastic RV - well done. And you and Toby will love the tracking, I think.

R.I.P. Cinders She sounds as though she was a lovely dog, and a great example of the breed. -
WTG FHRP and Polo - sounds like you're going to have a fun year. :D Ain't that the truth, AD!

Harness For Running Beside Bike
Tassie replied to Aidan3's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
The ban is on public roads (exception is apparently made for ET - once a year in Tas) - course, the Department can define public roads in strange ways. So yes, usually have to drive to somewhere there's a shared footpath where dogs aren't banned. I don't want the dogs pulling when we're cycling - training for ET or for show gaiting or just for conditioning - so no pulling. I just use their leashes attached to their BlackDog tracking/flyball harnesses - seems to work well. -
Thanks guys - I'll try Janet - met her up at Camp Tailwaggers a couple of times, and she's always been really helpful - and prompt when I've ordered things. LOL @ ness - Rory doesn't chomp things, thankfully - he just slobbers a lot, especially when he's panting.

Rearend Awareness Training
Tassie replied to koalathebear's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Well if they didn't, they should have done OSoSwift -
Hey - what's this doing on page 2???? Gotta have a little brag - my lil big man has a DB retrieve If I don't break it. And a baby seekback. Although I need a better seekback article. The bit of hose I used to use with Sam gets too slaggy and slips out of Rory's mouth (and my hands) - he did go back and get it when he realised he'd dropped it though . Any suggestions for where to get a nice seekback article?

Rearend Awareness Training

4 feet on the kitchen table doesn't count. Seriously - I have shaped it and all 3 have massive value on their pivot boxes. Even the unfinished ones in the garage. Be careful, AD - the 4 feet on the kitchen table/bench is a Winpara specialty. :D P.S. and OT - did you tell Wikki her big sister Phoebe has just got her show Ch too to catch up with big brother Rory. Clever Portia/Tag kids :D -
They are lovely looking - and the two I know down here are lovely dogs - though one is a barker. One is a Trackiing Ch. - lovely worker. Can't remember is anywon has suggeted a Lagotto - but maybe ba bit much grooming?

Rearend Awareness Training
Tassie replied to koalathebear's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Ptolomy. Luckily, Mr Rory only does it when there's a paver/phone book or something similar. Or if I put my left hand on my hip. (Note to self - must tell Rory's lovely junior show handler never to put her left hand on her hip .) -
OH - and maybe a bit small - but there have been a few terrific mini poodles (black - don't know if that's coincidence or not) in agility - one in VIc called Juming Jack Flash - and he was. Oh, and also meant to say there are a couple of really good Irish Terriers running in Agility in WA.
-
Brittanies can be feral - but lovely too - Helen's are great. Down here we've had ESS doing well in agility and ob - show lines -, and there's a Welshie as well - he's a nice boy - but very much a gun dog - nose dominated - but you could probably work on him the same way you have with Daisy. We've had a feral but heaps of fun Tibetan Terrier - and another one coming through. And we have a super Whippet - some DOLers have seen him at Nationals - varies from completely feral to totally brillisnt. Smithfields would have the same coat considerations as Beardies - they have the same sense of fun, and are are active and drivey, but not OTT.
-
We will be able to compare teeth marks and you too will come to training with no straps on your crocs :D Lovely, bedazzled! You're going to have fun with him. Oh, and Rory says, yes, crocs are good to chew - and also good for carrying round in your mouth - and if you're really lucky, they're good for carrying off somewhere on an acre of bush, and then leaving them there. Thanl goodness it was one of the cheap old knock offs he did that too, not a real croc.

I think so TN - certainly in the Dogs NSW database.
-
I think it depends to some extent at least on the computer system the canine control uses. Dogs Tas use the Dogs NSW database I think - the order seems to be determined by discipline, then alphabetical - certainly obedience comes before agility, and standard agility before Games, andtracking and herding after that then ET at the end. Looks like flyball is coming before agility - though I doubt if it woiuld come before obedience. As far as the Ch goes, I think maybe the agreement with AFA might have been that flyball Ch would not go in front of the dog's name, but the ANKC discipline Chs do go in front. So Kirra is T.Ch. Khayoz Sweet Soul Music ADM2 ADO3 JDM JDO4 GD SPDX SD HIT ET Rory has his Ch in front - now he's working on getting some letters behind Ch Winpara Soul Dreamer
