  1. We're baaaack! Got off the boat this morning, and now at work after a 3 and a half hour drive from Devonport. We had soooooo much fun! A big thanks to Ballarat ODC for putting the comp on, and to all the friendly friends and new acquaintances, for making us feel so welcome. Kallistar - thanks so much for videoing - wish I'd been able to return the favour - especially for that beautiful, tears to the eyes, HTM routine that you and Tux did. You must be so proud of him. I do have Margaret's FS routine with her Dandi Dinmont - will PM you about getting it to you. So nice to see you getting that award in Novice, Gamby - and lovely to catch up. :) I am very proud of my feral kids - luckily the judges were prepared to reward enthusiasm and enjoyment in Starters  - we certainly had that! We had such a good time - well worth the nerves and the trip over.
  2. Kallistar - I have a video camera and tripod with me, so there could be video ;) Hi Gamby - I was so pleased when I saw you were the FS assembly steward! I'm in Melbourne now, so no going back - see you tomorrow!
  3. Like the sound of cooler - Rory in particular doesn't DO hot weather. Hmmm - sort of have choreog worked out - still need more practise with dogs, and time is running out. Had almost 2 hours drive to get to a meeting last night, so I had their music on the ipod over and over again, kind of mentally walking through the routines - does that count as practice ? ;) It's been such a busy week, I'm actually looking forward to getting on the ferry and just relaxing (and more playing the music over and over . I'm excited and nervous at the same time - but it will be fun! (I keep telling myself that  ).
  4. Amen to that, kallistar. And just found out that Rory and I are the opening act, because 1 has scratched apparently - In what parallel universe did I think this was a good idea???? Oh well, it'll be fun to see a comp - and to meet up with friends.
  5. Lots of congratulations. Isn't it nice to see ouir dogs doing well across different disciplines. :D That's a lovely photo of a very special boy and a very special trophy, Ptolomy
  6. Twas so nice to see youi and the handsome, all grown up 'Woger' with his super fringies
  7. When you're brushing and combing, it often helps to wet/condition the coat as you go - spray bottle - I use Plush Puppy Reviveacoat - but some say you can use dilute conditioner with lots of water. Brush and comb go through coat much more easily - less stress all round, and less breakage. Flea combs are handy for behind ears - although pinch and pull as described is good when you have it under control. My two favourite tools, besides pin brush - rotating tooth comb, and a comb with alternate teeth spaced at two different lengths - this seems to get a lot of dead coat out. Some say using something like thick & Thicker in the rinse will help dead coat come out.
  8. Super photo of beautiful dogs - I hope I've voted - tried, anyway LOL
  9. At least she's heading in the right direction, Le - that's good news. Fingers and paws firmly crossed here still and more good Tassie mojo on the way up. :)
  10. Hoping Murphy has done well overnight CFS
  11. What a great reward for an amazing team. And I guess there might have been more And well done to you and the girls, too RS! EFS
  12. Just too cute, Vickie. My big BC cat (now 15) is on her 4th and 5th BCs, and she just loves them. She has a special miaow that she uses to talk to the dogs - and like your cat, keeps her claws in (usually - though Rory did have a cat scratch across his nose the other week - but not deep.) I particularly loved the bit in the clip where the two are playing the BC wrestling game - I throw you down and then you throw me down and we chew on heads and legs
  13. What OSS said  Fantastic work guys - multi talented dogs and handlers, and soiund like lots of fun was being had as well.
  14. Yep - guess you could say Brookie found his mojo - well done the pair of you.
  15. Yay, kathq - that's exciting! All the best - you'll have fun. :D
  16. And my poor cat has to put up with being stalked sometimes on her way to a toilet stop - and that's by my 10 year old BC bitch, who should really know better. And she's the one who can't understand why sometimes her kisses are not so welcome
  17. sounds like Kaos is smarter than Rory. Rory is a total toy boy, and will fall for the two toy trick pretty easily (although Kirra does have to be out of the picture - he won't challenge her
  18. shortish, stoutish, late middle-aged, glasses  - there'll be quite a few around who know me. Oh, and the BCs are black/white - which doesn't really help
  19. :) oh sorry - misinterpreted. Yes, it may not translate, but probably worth doing just for fun anyway, with something else. I have trouible with Rory doing 'victory laps' with a fdrisbee or tug toy if I've thrown it and if Kirra is around. If she's tied up or out of the picture, he brings the toy/frisbee back. When I was teaching the 2x2 weaves, I used a lot of handler motion - running away from him - maybe with another tuggie, to get him to bring the target tug back for a game. (it had the advantage of stopping him coming back through the poles. So you could try (if you haven't already) having another toy and playing with it excitedly moving around in 'prey' fashion, and then huge praise and tug if Kaos brings the tug back, then rinse and repeat. (If anyof that makes sense - at work - busy day :D
  20. Sounds like the tugging's going great guns with Kaos . I've had good success using te Shirley Chong retrieve method of teaching it Shirley Chong retrieve
  21. sounds like we're a bit in the same boat, Gamby  - but good - another friend to catch up with :D
  22. @ ness - but you're young, have time and have some creativity ... all unfair advantages in my book ;) @ kallistar - ooh good - glad I'm not the only one behind a bit. Entries went in the post this morning - and I am really looking forward to seeing people over there - will be worth going just for that - and if nothing else, the dogs and I should give people a laugh.
  23. I've barely started my FS - and Rory has an obedience trial Sunday, so might leave fiddling with him till after that - don't want to confuse his boy brains . Had to laugh about the speed thing - Kirra likes things to happen FAST. The Highland Laddie is faster ;) . I'm just doing my entries right now - thinking good grief, what have I done - but the ferry and accommodation are all booked and paid for so I'm committed now .
