  1. Interesting article on study on chemicals and cancer in dogs Not a huge study, but it makes interesting reading - and is a bit reassuring about flea and tick preventatives.
  2. Now why was I fairly sure that would be the answer They are adorable - and look lovely and healthy and content - as does Miss Cider. :D
  3. Which is the little one upside down with the adorable pink paw pads all showing LOL
  4. :) Naaaw - she looks absolutely perfect! Even with a sandy nose  Lots of fun ahead for you I think.
  5. Congrats to Cider and Grandma Ptolomy , and welcome to the little Toller babies. (Heads over to FB  )
  6. Love it!! Way to go the Rabbit - what a great dog.
  7. I'd be looking at doing something else with her. I'd say most of the older dogs that are competing have been training and competing pretty much all the time - hence they are in a pretty fit condition and able to keep going, for example my girl is 10 - but is a light framed BC, and gets regular vet and chiro checks. With your girl, I would be thinking of trying to get into Rally O - plenty of brain work, but much less stress on the body. My experience is that the dogs and handlers really enjoy the sport, and my agility girl (sho doesn't "do" obedience  ) really enjoys it. ETA - and what CFS says about getting into a bit of training with her, for yourself and to polish some foundation stuff for the new pup ( :) ) is a great idea .
  8. What a sad time for you - but as you said - when you get to the stage of saying "that's no life", then the decision is probably made - even though it's very very hard on the people side of the equation . And it sounds like you have given Lilli a great and long life. You will have some beautiful memories. Good thoughts for you and Lilli.
  9. Nice to see you here, JulesP - can certainly understand how the mojo would have gone . But great that you're starting Rally O, although it's a shame about the club rules. Is there anywhere else close doing Rally - or in any case, you can download the signs yourself and practise at home - another of the nice things about Rally - can just do a few signs at a time. :D
  10. I'M SO GLAD I was there to see the routines that led to your success. Especially the look of wonder on your face as you slowly came to realise that Tix had done it. How I wish I'd been there to see it - and to see you and the gorgeous Gambit. Super well done, ladies.
  11. Way to go wuffles. Fingers crossed for you and Ava. We have out first outing in Rally Advanced in May, although there's a club test next Sunday.
  12. TO - like both the little and big brags. It's great if you can just crack the attitude thing. Onwards and upwards now :D
  13. Yay for Meg and especially Tux! Was his the same routine you did in Ballarat - the tears to the eyes one? And Meg's owner must be thrilled to bits. :D
  14. Jess. Asuuming the bar was down (until you saw it wasn't  ) may well have contributed to that win - sometimes I find if I think a Q isn't on offer, I can run more freely and let the dog have her head, instead of trying to micro-manae a bit more. Great stuff anyway, with both dogs.
  15. That was a lovely run, Jess. - you're right about those seat of the pants runs that just happen - had one in ADM in Adelaide - was like being on a roller coaster - I had no idea what was happening (had walked 3 courses  ) but I thought - to heck iwth it - I'll just keep running cos this is such fun! - and it ended in a Q TSD - sounds great - what a good tribute to a structured club with great foundation - and to you as well. :D Seita - that needed a cuteness alert. Blink looks absolutely lovely - you're going to have such fun. :D
  16. Another one who feeds breakfast on trial day (one of their 2 meals a day) - but making sure it's a couple of hours at least before they work. Same reasoning as ness. Mine are always hungray anyway :D or that's what they tell me, so they're still keen to get treats later. That's a great tip about the watermelon. My Kirra only drinks a little bit anyway, and to get her to drink more at trials, I've resorted to dropping small pieces of soft treats into the water bowl - then she fishes for them. (She used to really like DogAde, but you can't get it now. Some people find a bit of milk added to the water encourages them to drink.
  17. Congrats kathq - nice feeling to have Test 1 under your belt, isn't it. Yay for RS and Millie! And DSO - nice one - now ready to play with the big kids in Masters Jumping (where's the evil grin emoticon!) So biker girl - what about your brags from yesterday's Rally O trial - beautiful work with both girls!! Ptolomy - only time to post on FB lasst night before heading off to club dinner with our judge - then obedience all day today. Rally O - great day all round - some super scores - happy to say that both my kids finished their RN titles, with one pass to spare. Agility and tracking girl Kirra (the wone who doesn't "do" obedience, and definitely doesn't believe in slow anything - got 96 in both trials - including the course with a lot of heeling to the last station and then slow pace to the finish - bless her heart, she did it with style (thank goodness for being able to talk to your dog.) And the little big man, after a 96 in the morning, outdid himself with a 100 in the afternoon - then lost first place by 4 seconds - but no shame in that. So on to Rally Advanced now - will be fun. Rory backed up with some nice work in obedience today in the Novice ring - pity I can't trust him in stays yet - need big help with that - and the good thing - the afternoon heeling was lovely - lost 4 for inattention causing a bit of lagging going round the post with dog outside. I was thrilled with the rest - he felt really happy and the judge said he looked really nice. And Ptolomy (and bedazzledx2), your 'distance ed' students here had a really good weekend - CCD title for one, CD for another couple, a nice first CCD pass for another, and a first Open pass for another - thanks so much for the inspiration you guys provide with your videos and your hints. :)
  18. Good news! Poro Fern with the bandaged foot again though. Paws crossed for good healing. :)
  19. I reckon if you email Janet - addy is on the website - with measurements of what you have and ask her for advice, she'll be able to suggest something.
  20. That's a great set of results for your Geelong group, Gamby - well done to all!!
  21. Aaaaw bless her - and well done to both of you - and that run didn't look too messy to me. :D
  22. Well done to you and your girl (love her name) - and to Dogs Vic and OTEC for putting the trials on, and giving people the chance to title in one weekend. From what I've heard, people enjoyed their first Rally O trialling experience.
  23. Way to go TSD! The new secret to agility success, huh!
  24. Yes - holes in pockets here too - courtesy of Miss Kirra, whose philosophy is - any food of any sort left where I can possibly reach it - is MINE
