  1. Dog's desperate chase after car as callous owner dumps her in field She thought they were going for a gentle walk in the field together. But suddenly, inexplicably, Ginger's owner turned on his heel, ran back to the car and drove off, leaving the dog behind. Terrified to see him disappearing, the Shetland-cross terrier chased the car as it pulled away. But, limping badly thanks to her overgrown claws, she had to stop. Luckily for Ginger, staff at a nearby office block saw what had happened. They ran outside and took the distressed dog inside. One took her to the vet to have her claws trimmed - which is what had been causing the limp and then she was collected by the council's dog warden team. However, the scene was also captured on CCTV. So officials are also trying to trace the owner, in the hope that he can be prosecuted for his cruelty to the pet. Steve Sudworth, who was working in the offices at British Marine Technology, in Weymouth, Dorset, explained how saw the man dump Ginger. 'I happened to see the man and dog walk towards the woods behind our building. After a few seconds I saw the man walking very fast back to the car and he jumped in. 'I thought he was going to shout for the dog but the car started reversing and pulled out of the car park fast. 'The dog tried to follow but couldn't because of the limp.' The dog is being kept by Weymouth and Portland Borough Council. Chris Robertson, assistant dog warden, said: 'Ginger is a really nice dog, she has a lovely temperament. 'I don't know why anyone would just abandon her.' If prosecuted, her owner could face six months in prison and/or £20,000 fine. I hope she finds a loving home. Ginger looks beautiful(photo and video in link)
  2. A MAN could be jailed for killing a dog in what a veteran RSPCA inspector described as one of the worst acts of animal cruelty he had seen. Paul Hinton, 34, from Pensbury Street, Darlington, pleaded guilty at the town's magistrates' court yesterday to one count of neglect and four counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a brown cross-breed dog. A charge of torture was withdrawn. The offences took place between March 1 and April 1 at a property in Hargreave Terrace that Hinton was intending to move into. Kevin Campbell, prosecuting for the RSPCA, said the animal, which had been restrained and had its mouth tied, suffered severe injuries all over its body, caused by kicking or being hit with a blunt object. It died of heart failure. A vet said the dog would have been unable to escape Hinton's beatings because it was tied up. As its body temperature increased, it was unable to cool itself by panting, leading to a huge strain on its heart. Mr Campbell told magistrates: "The young police officer who called the RSPCA has since suffered horrific flashbacks." Jonathan Harley, inmitigation, said the dog had been a stray and had bitten Hinton's youngest child twice. He said he had taken it in to keep it from roaming the streets. Mr Harley said: "When he went to stroke it, the dog went for him. Heknew the dog was aggressive. "At this, he lost his temper and smacked the dog. "He tied it up and gave it enough rope to move around, but not enough to escape." Mr Harley said Hinton tied the dog's mouth because it had tried to bite him several times. Magistrates adjourned the case until October 7 for a pre-sentence report. Speaking afterwards, RSPCA inspector Garry Palmer said: "I am just glad I was first at the scene. "Younger officers may not have been able to handle the scenes. "It is one of the worst cases I have seen in my ten-year career." http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/new..._of_p et_dog/ That is so terrible. :D :cheer: ;)
  3. I agree with you wholeheartedly. It is the only way I can guarantee that my puppies will never end up with BYBer's. I agree with this.
  4. bl0nd3y your post is posted in the wrong area, so you may not get too many comments But the answer is YES ,its animal cruelty.....and very wrong on so many levels. Dogs are pack animals and really need to be with the family. I doubt the dog is slow just the owner I was once told by a dog breeder that they are either breeding dogs or pets cant have both, THIS IS WRONG and NOT TRUE :D I hope the dog gets fed well and shelter from the wearther elements.????
  5. Mother obsessed with computer games left her dogs to starve to death A mother neglected her three children and let her dogs starve to death because she was so obsessed with a computer game. The 33-year-old woman played the Small World game almost non-stop on the internet for months while her children were reduced to eating cold baked beans straight from the tin with their fingers. Her home became filthy, with rubbish strewn over the floor and the bodies of her two dogs, a German shepherd and a lurcher, left for two months in the dining room it was revealed. The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been given a suspended jail sentence and banned from using the internet by a judge in Kent. The horror only came to an end when a neighbour peered through the letterbox and alerted the authorities, Maidstone Crown Court heard. The woman's children, aged nine, ten and 13, were badly neglected for six months, said Deepak Kapur, prosecuting. When officers arrived at the house in Swanley, Kent, in February the woman told them it was 'in a bit of a mess' They then saw rubbish all over the floors in all of the rooms. The woman tried to block officers from entering the dining room and when asked why she replied: 'All right, my dogs are in there. They are dead. I killed them. 'I probably starved them, probably because I have been playing the computer game all the time.' She received an invitation from a friend on [system edit: Contains pet groups] to play Small World and had very quickly become hooked. The game featuring characters such a wizards, dwarves, orcs and giants is played like a traditional board game but online. 'She started playing initially for an hour aday in late 2009 but since August of that year it had become an obsession to the point where she was only getting two hours' sleep a night,' said the prosecutor. 'She still managed to feed the children and get them to school but accepted she let everything else go. 'Afterwards, it became so overwhelming she didn't know where to start. 'It got to the stage where she only bought food that didn't need cooking. ' Allan Compton, defending, said the woman had been a devoted and competent mother until tragedy struck some years ago with the death of her husband from a heart attack. 'She retreated into this virtual world provided by her laptop computer,' he said. 'She shut herself off from the outside world.' Mr Compton said the house was now habitable. The children had been taken into care, but she hoped to be reunited with them in the future, he said. The mother was sentenced to six months' imprisonment suspended for two years, and ordered to do 75 hours' unpaid work. She was banned from keeping animals. She had admitted three charges of child cruelty and two of animal neglect. Judge Jeremy Carey told her: 'Your life went very badly wrong. Your children were badly neglected indeed. There was decay and filth all around.' Judge Carey banned the woman from access to the internet 'to assist you to resist the temptation to return to this virtual world'. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13...tarve-death.htm I dont understand why the kids did not feed the dogs, I mean the oldest is 13 Poor dogs and kids

  16. I don't really see the relevance of this statement of yours here? This forum's primary function is to promote PUREBRED dogs. While many of us have crossbreds and/or purebreds, the purpose here is to educate members and guests about purebred dogs. A crossbred which is deliberately bred by someone solely to make money is NOT ethical. Think about the parent animals who are locked in tiny cages in puppy mills just so they can be bred dry then discarded like rubbish once their breeding days are over. Now contrast this with the vast majority of registered, ethical breeders whose purpose in breeding is to firstly improve their chosen breed and secondly to excel in the show-ring or other dog exhibiting and dog sport fields. Next time you see that cute ball of fluff in the pet shop window, ask yourself what kind of life the parent animals should be experiencing and then think about them being confined to cages their entire lives. Pretty horrific, isn't it? Go ahead and buy such a pup and support that filthy puppy mill. Just don't expect anyone here to be happy that you've done so. BTW - I have a pedigree greyhound (rescue), a MUTT (rescue) and a Mini Foxy x (rescue). I would never for a moment consider purchasing any of the poodle crosses which have been deliberately bred by someone solely to make money BUT if one came up in rescue and I wanted such a dog then I would consider giving her a home. Why don't you call it what it is: a poodle cross. Then educate yourself as to where these pups really come from, and begin to understand why making such a choice is cruel and irresponsible. If you have any doubts whatsoever about puppy mills, I'd suggest you look at Cesar Millan's special episode or check out the RSPCA's campaign pics (not that I really support the RSPCA but those pics were all taken in Australia from places which "specialise" in over-breeding poodles with a thousand different breeds in order to make huge profits). Then once you've done all of that, look up "Leo's Story" about a former puppy mill dog which was rescued by a DOLer a few years ago. Dogs are not merchandise and they're not farm animals...yet puppy mills treat them as both. Great post Lillysmum We rescue puppy farm dogs - the big picture often eludes the majority of people - they can't see past the cute fluffy puppy They don't give consideration or care about the poor bitch who produces that pup. No-one is being hypocritical on this forum. We are here because we believe in and own purebred dogs - purposely bred with great care for type, confirmation and temperament. Great post Lillysmum. So very true
  17. Wow I'm so sorry, I hope the rest is doing well RIP Little girl
