Heya just in reply to SOUFF, When you said about the Canine Council magazine, that it is done several months in advance and then printed, Yes I understand this But what should be happening is a letter to members, This topic was first raised on this site over two months ago. Surely IT COULD HAVE MADE IT WAY INTO A MAG BY NOW? I think the Canine Council is sitting back with lips sealed, why would they want to scare off NEW BREEDERS PREFIXES & New Memberships? We as breeders DESERVE TO HAVE A COMMITTEE WHO WE PAY OUR ANNUAL FEES TO, WHO CARE FOR ITS MEMBERS Just as we agree to abide by their code of ethics they too should owe us the same! How do we get the word out there? Every breeder I talk to says, well, if it was to happen, How would the councils police it? Through the Newspapers, sites like this one, Council registrations, They say, There isn`t enough staff to do what would be required They don`t believe it will happen. What if it does go through?? Then we are stuffed!

Yes, I know, and rest assured I will be trying to tell people and I have printed it off to take to our Local Pet shops. I know I don`t sell there, But maybe ''They are unaware of what is going on, A friend told me that the Councils will be relying on the Vets to let them know who is breeding etc. But am wondering if they be so keen to 'CUT OFF THEIR NOSE TO SPITE THEIR FACE', We occassionally require a C-sar for one of our girls and just don`t know if the Vets would want to loose all the Breeders money. I MEAN IT IS ONE THING TO STOP S SHADY BREEDER KNOWONE WANTS THEM, But a reputable people, who genuinely cares for their dogs?cats. HMMMMM Maybe the vets is worth talking too also. All I know is once it goes through in one state, Whats to stop it in EVERY other State in AUSTRALIA???HUH? Arent we the Country everyone want to come to? Soon we will have NO RIGHTS.... HOW DO WE MAKE PEOPLE LISTEN? Tell me that? We all sit back and just watch everything happen, Why? Nite

I hope these new Laws do not come in, as this will be the end of many wonderful years of Dog Breeding , I still don`t understand the reasons for doing this, the people who pay to register their pups & Dogs arent the ones who abandon their animals. It is the ones that are sold as crosses or unpapered that are the ones "PUPPY FARMED". People who buy our puppies buy healthy, vaccinated, well socialised, family friendly (cuddled). Babies, we only do it as a hobby, a hobby that we all love. But it then is put into the hands of your shire & where you are situated, depending on "HOW MANY REGISTERED BREEDERS ARE ALLOWED WITHIN HOW MANY KILOMETRES OF WHERE YOU LIVE." This is the Laws that they are speaking about on the Gold Coast and surrounds. ONE DOG PER HOME. Special application required if you have another dog, fee paid, council decide. And when one of your dogs dies, You CANNOT replace it with another. I knew a breeder who lived near Dreamworld she had three dogs, several cats she bred, Her husband breed exoitic parrots. they had a big yard, proper housing for all concerned. They were dobbed into council by their neighbours. Eventually sold up and move inland from beenleigh, a large property, acreage. So she applied for a Kennels lincence. They were only 5 KS from a Catery. They were DENIED!!! They only moved so they could do this, they moved for NOTHING!!! Don`t be fooled by these laws, It will affect EVERYONE! Please lets do something. And again I say, WHY aren`t the Canine Councils sending us out info on this in the monthly mag???

How rediculous! And would they like to see the statistics on just how many PURE BRED Animals are imported into our country on a yearly basis? Do they IMPORT CROSSBRED DOGS for the purpose of breeding and showing? I THINK NOT :D (NEW BLOODLINES) Imported.(NEW BLOODLINES) Bloody idiots.. The fact is that most breeds, even the hard to purchase "due to number of breeders", are far more healthy 'because of importing", than they were 20 years ago.. Far less defects. Due to the hard work and study of a breed...Thanks to dedicated breeders. P.S I do believe there are even fare less cases of pugs being born with The "wobbly head(or big head syndrome) nowdays also.

Victoria Proposes Tougher Pet Breeding Laws
Frenchfire Frenchies replied to Kraigoaks's topic in In The News
No I don`t sell my pups in a pet store, But not everyone can afford to pay for a purebred dog & when I was young I would have probably bought one there. They should be more concern about the health of a breed and the temperament rather than trying to restrict peoples choices. Everyday things are changing in our society, We idiotally sit back and watch it all happen. We do nothing, "there are so many restrictions and laws on so many things nowadays and half the time they are a BANDAID, Not a FIX of something. I rang a breeder of a BREED in the making "australian Bulldog' yesterday to get them to advertise throughtout their Bulldog community as this will affect 'Every Breeder" in some way. He said to me, Yer, well, we can put it out there, But you know it will do no good, 'you know, cause the government really don`t care," I thought about that for along time, Just what he said, He is right.....They change the rules and we just let it happen... This WILL effect dog breeding in general, and will affect every dog breeder in some way... even if it is through your choice to advertise your pups in the paper of even on DOGZONLINE...Their will be no breeders listings for pups forsale... The thing is, We need healthy pets....and they only way to do that is to Fine the Law breakers. Fine them so tough that that think twice before they overbreed and neglect their Dog/cat/Bird/rabbit/snake. Lets get fines out there for breeders who STILL try to sell pups unvaccinated -
Victoria Proposes Tougher Pet Breeding Laws
Frenchfire Frenchies replied to Kraigoaks's topic in In The News
Still, I do not understand what exactly "They are really trying to do." And the comment that the Government has to appear that they are doing something, My question to the Government would be 'WHY ARE YOU ATTACKING THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY GIVE A SHIT, The people who pay their membership to join an organisation? An organistaion that SHOULD BE HELPING TO PROTECT ITS MEMEBERS! We pay to register our litters, We are Governed by The Canine Council. Aren`t we? We have restrictions and certain rules already. The canine councils themselves stand to loose thousands of dollars if these strict base laws come in, and the cat industry also. Why arent they pubicising this??? why arent they screaming about this!! This really doesn`t affect the percentage of people who have 40 dogs, as most of them whould be hidden away right out of town, where they can have that many dogs without complaints from unhappy neighbours. And the poor little average starter breeder, who may just want a taste to see if they like the idea, cant sell in a pet shop (such a shame) What exactly will we be able to purchase at OUR PET SHOPS OF THE FUTURE? Robot doggys?? can`t advertsie (might get a fine). That little person, (who by the way may not decide they dont want a dog anymore. ) What kind of hobby would they suggest our animal loving children, (brought up with dog breeding all around them) What should I tell my children they should pursue?? . Just sit at the computer on facebook and get a fat arse? The streets are definately getting to dangerous to let them just go outside and play. Animals are a wonderful investment for a MILLION different reasons. All of my children want to either breed or show... Why not put Tougher penalties on caught offenders, of Dog fighting, neglected dogs, animal cruelty, encourage people to report these acts?? Get pet shops on board to help report breeders, "who, they feel are neglecting the animals they bring in for sale." Try to get vets to report cases they feel are neglect. A N I M A L cruelty should be the agenda. More television shows showing these people, PUBLIC TRIALS....Oh yer, "Of with their heads!!" I say! -
Victoria Proposes Tougher Pet Breeding Laws
Frenchfire Frenchies replied to Kraigoaks's topic in In The News
Oh My Goodness!!! This new Proposed Legislation would ruin not just Dog Breeders, Pet owners, Pet shops would go broke!!! Grey hound racing, would suffer drastically. Vets who specialise in artificial insemination. Dog Import/Export of pups out of our country!!! Advertising of our animals, Webpages and sites such as Petlink etc. The list goes on and on. "And for this choice of Hobby, they should have restrictions to merely being able to only OWN A DOG...But hey, you can`t do anything with "YOUR DOG", Don`t take it anywhere, Don`t Breed with it. JUST MAKE SURE YOU FEED IT! You are allowed to do that!! Some of us take great pride in our dog breeding, that creation of Perfection amongst the breed one has chosen! My dogs are well, fed, Healthy, much loved members of our family, And that fact that We have chosen to become breeders, Should be OUR CHOICE.. Just sneaky POWER HUNGRY, MISERABLE MINDED People trying to slide a FEW LITTLE UPDATES AND SLIGHTLY CHANGE THE LAW "For the sake of THE ANIMALS" Rubbish!!! It is all about CONTROL In our future we will have "No Control", Just like the new Laws that the Government is trying to pass regarding Cars. Anything before 1996 will become obsilete, Knowone will work on them, No parts will be able to be purchased for them. The RTA will not register them. You will however be able to buy A NEW CAR.... Yer, right...what about the cheap little run around car?? We were restoring an XD Falcon, nice clean car...'MAYBE WE CAN DO UP A HODTROD" Something for the family...some fun..Yer right the new laws are going to be so tuff cost more than it worth to "try" to comply with THE NEW LEGISLATION.. Anyway wont be able to register the darn thing.Everything destined for "THE CRUSHER!" SO WHO EXACTLY IS THIS LAW FOR??? PROTECT THE ANIMALS??? MORE LIKE KILL OFF THE ANIMALS! COME ON AUSSIE`S! Lets do something, Lets try to do something about this!! Petitions...tell your pet store, tell our vets, Tell EVERYONE!!!!
