Had a similar thing with a young bitch. Her's was when she got up after resting. First time she must have stretched in her crate and there was a blood curdling scream. I thought she must have caught her foot in the crate but not so. She stood and cried and arched her back right up for what seemed lik ages but was probably only seconds. The second time we are not sure what happened but he was in the yard, I was at work and OH was at home but working when the neighbour rang him to say she was lying down crying. He went out and called her and she bounded up to him as happy as Larry. Third time was a repeat of the first. The 3 attacks happened in about one week. I took her to the vet and they thought a partial obstruction - everything was working as per usual and she was eating and drinking etc. After many tests and examinations by 2 vets they came to the conclusion that as she was in season this must have been what was effectively menstrual cramps. This was her first season and the situation has not arisen again with her next season having no sign of the problem. ETA apart from the actual time she was experiencing the problem she was happy and normal in every way with absolutely no indication of there having been anything untoward happen

Lilly Is Sick Again - Recurrent Problem
curlyking replied to Dog_Horse_Girl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Lillysmum glad to hear lilly's problem is not more severe. That sure is expensive for metacam. How much are you buying? I pay $99 for 100ml bottle Would you consider having a veterinary chiropractor help in the treatment? I have had fantastic results by doing so for similar conditions. -
How Do You Do Pigs Ears, Hocks Etc
curlyking replied to Rozzie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hocks I feed raw -
You are right about the size of turkey legs KK. Safeway had them lasrt week when I was shopping.Too big for all but one of my Airedales. I'm sure they would manage them but I figure they don't need two meals in one. I have had no problems with giving my Airedales chicken legs at 5 months though.
-
Your 5 month old Airedale will manage chicken legs just fine but will take a bit of time to do so. They really are not much bigger than the bone in the wings

Mine have pork regularly and love the hocks particularly

When I have your problem PW, I use the plier type clippers and taks take some off the nail wityh those then finish them off with the grinder. I find I get a shorter nail quicker that way.

Maybe put some padding (an old sock perhaps?) around it to stop it being knocked any more. Hope it heals up OK

20/20 Clinics And Hip Scoring
curlyking replied to Sayreovi's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've not had xrays done at Werribee simply because my own vet does an excellent job and is much closer. I do send my xrays to Dr Wyburn for reading. My only reason for this is because I figure if I use the same person to score all my xrays there is continuity in the scores. -
I have an oldie on Metacam and she has been on it for several years now. We have had no problem at all with it. For some time I did resist using it beccause of all the negative reports and used a herbal preparation instead. However, in the last 6 months or so that was not giving enough relief so I went back to using the metacam. My thought was to keep her off NSAIDS for as long as possible but if and when it came to the point that nothing else worked I would accept their use for quality of life over quantity.

My generator has arrived and is brewing my very first batch of CS. I'm really excited about this. ETA I also bought the gel kit
-
4 Paws have a look at the link morgan posted and I think your questions will be answered. My understanding is that the short answer to your question is that overdosing is pretty hard to do.
-
Try Colloidal Silver. Not able to make it up yourself unless you have a generator to do so but if you buy a bottle from the health shop it will last for ages and ages and you can use it for both the dogs and yourself and a multitude of other things too.

Personally I'd not be any more worried about the dogs chocking on this food than any other food. I'm sure Molly's misadventure was not what anyone needs but in all probability it would not have mattered what she was eating at the time it could have been dry food or a chicken neck and created the same problem. Glad she is OK though

This is my back up food. The dogs love it and I have it home delivered for about $3 a 1.5kg packet as long as I buy 16 pkts or more.

Well, I have just orederd my CS generator so will let you know how my first batch goes in the next few days. I also got the gel kit too. The chap from Silver Well was really helpful and very happy to answer my questions.
-
Thanks Morgan, I thought it was the Silver Well that you had mentioned previously. There are a couple of things that confuse me on this subject but the Silver Well site is pretty comphrensive.
-
It could be just you or there might be others saying the same. I've no idea! Colloidal Silver is considered to be a very effective anti biotic. Rather than me telling you about it if you do a search for colloidal silver you will find out about it's benefits from a multitude of sites. To buy it in the health shops it costs about $28 for 500 ml but it apparently is very easy to generate at home using a specific generator to do this. My enquiry was to those who may know about doing that as I know this has been discussed before but am now looking for more input. Sorry if you find it confusing ---- BTW it is dog related as I wish to use it for the dogs hence I posted here rather than in Off Topic

Try bathing it with Collodial Silver a natural anti biotic

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone who uses and or generates CS could give me some information re generators and the success or otherwise of home production. Morgan some time ago suggested to me a generator and I did look at it but have since lost the link. I have a feeling it was the Silver Well. This one is set to generate to 12ppm but as I read it one can increase this to 20ppm or higher. What would you consider the optium strength for both personal and pet use? With winter coming on it is time to lay in supplies of this and I thought it may well be time to DIY. I have at last convinced someone to try CS for themself as they are not able to take the usual antibiotics. After 3 or 4 days they are hooked Sue

I've had my clipper blades sharpened and clippers serviced by them. I found them good and very helpful. Cannot comment on delivery as I delivered and collected them.

Do All Breeds Come Into Season Ever 6- 8 Months?
curlyking replied to ~Anne~'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The CC's may have used that as a reason for setting the rules but the renowned reproductive vets do not necessarily believe it is the best for the health of the bitch.
