Thanks So it's not something that can be fixed particularly? I'm fine separating them as there is a gate that is easily shut, just thought perhaps there was a way to stop it altogether.

Quick brief - we have 2 dogs - a GSD girl 12 years old (desexed) my OH has had her since she was 1 year old; a Saint Bernard male (desexed) have had him for 6 weeks - prior to living with us he was living at his breeders since birth. We've had no problems to date with the two dogs, they have gotten along great from day one. Last night however I was feeding them as usual - I put their bowls in separate places so they are away from each other - the GSD decided to have a sniff in the St's bowl and he snarled at her I gave him a quick 'baah' and he looked at me and stopped but I want to nip this in the bud as quickly as possible. Usually once the St has finished his dinner he sits and waits about 3 metres away from the GSD and only walks to her bowl (to finish off any remains) once she has walked away from it. There is no aggression from the GSD, she's happy to let him help himself. If the St is eating from the GSD's bowl and she returns he has not (to date) shown any aggression either. Any solutions? Thanks in advance

Please We Need Some Advice- Quick
BIG-DOG-LOVER replied to Samodor's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
So sorry it hasn't worked out how you had hoped His previous owners sound like a caring bunch - not! Fancy saying that they can't take him back, that is horrible. I'm glad that you have Rus' best interests in mind. I'm sure you will find a great home for him, don't beat yourself up over it too much.... -
thank you so much Harminee - I love it Some cyber flowers for you.....

Thanks Harminee - I am such a dummy when it comes to photoshop I've started a photo thread for Claude - here is the link : http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=148988

Just found this thread  Could someone pretty please make a signature for me? What sort of photos/sizes are best?

Ouch! That is unbelievable that somelike that that could happen whilst in care of the vets. I'd have been furious! Glad he is on the mend though and that they are treating him to help him recover. Would be interested to know who the vets were as I too am in Melbourne.

Thanks guys  Will try the physohex and see if that makes a difference, can't hurt!

Recovery From Brown Snake Bite
BIG-DOG-LOVER replied to deltron's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
 oh no, that is horrible and I can only imagine the stress you are under at the moment. Sounds like you have a good vet there and that Charlie is being well looked after at least . It's scary thinking that snakes are already about and at Jells Park that is a hugely popular area! I can't help you with anything other than to offer you and Charlie some hugs and wish him a speedy recovery. Take care, BDL -
Don't think it's a cyst... Can you tell me a bit more about the staph infection??? Is it easily treated? Just wondering if I should get some pet insurance BEFORE I take him to the vets.......
-
Thanks Puggy Puggy  No I haven't put anything on it as it's not really a sore as such. We've only had Claude for one month and it was there from when we got him, but I initially only thought it was a scar or something. I think for peace of mind I'll take him up to the vets and get it checked out - can never be too sure. Thanks, as above, think I'll take him to the vets and see what they say

Here's a photo if anyone can make out anything from it. It's totally solid and feels a bit like scar tissue is - firm, no movement etc. But there is another similar feeling thing on his other ear which is only the size of the top of a pin.
-
I doubt it is what Louie had - my point is get it checked asap. We thought we were dealing with a hematoma, turned out that if we had left it much longer it may have penetrated his brain as there was a fluid build up both ends. Sometimes time is very important - especially in such a sensitive area. Of course I am overly vigilant after our experience so please feel free to note me as paranoid! I am sure you pup will be okay - please let us know Thanks, yeah I know what you mean, sometimes the smallest problem can turn into something massive before you know it. Thanks, I think I will book him in asap as you just never know, I'd rather be over paranoid than complacent!

Thanks Pug Hugger, I don't think it sounds like the same thing that Louie had, well I hope not by the sounds of it! Pug Rescue Sydney, hhmm doesn't seem like a blood blister type thing either but it's bigger than a pimple size - about 8mm long and it's probably 2-3mm wide and raised up by about 3 mm. I might try and get a photo and see if that helps any. I was probably a bit naughty last week as I poked it with a pin to see if it had any fluid in it, but just a tiny drop of blood (from the pin prick) came out.

My dog has a lump on his ear (flappy bit), and I don't know what it is.... It's hard and not cyst like and at first I thought it may be just scar tissue but now it seems that he is developing one on is other ear as well. I've looked up about ear hematoma's but it seems that they are more swollen like rather than a solid hard lump. Would anyone have any idea? I felt our other dogs ears this morning and she seems to have a tiny little lump that feels the same as well, so maybe it's nothing to worry about? Vets will be the next port of call, but I thought I'd check in here first incase anyone had any ideas. Thanks

Hi :D welcome to the forums, I see you've obviously been reading up lots since you arrived which is great It will take time, but you will get their and I'm sure Honey will turn out to be a lovely companion for you. I haven't had a puppy for many years but just give it time and keep at it and continue reading up all that you can as knowledge is a wonderful thing. Congrats on your new addition

Thanks, I will have a squiz... Had a look at that site today, they are gorgeous and I would love to buy one (or two) of them, the only problem is is that they aren't big enough for my boy

Anyone know of a good online shop to buy the Rogz martingales from (or just Rogz collars in general)? I need to buy an XXL one.

That's a great site - thanks for the link  Very interesting.... -
Excellent to hear that things went okay this morning Yes if you could make her 'area' in the laundry smaller that would help I'd say. Good luck!
-
Does she have the entire laundry all to herself? Ie her bed in there and not in a crate? As from what I have read if that's the case then she wont mind pooping or peeing in there as the area is so big. So if that's the case I'd get a crate for her and crate train her, she is unlikely to poop in her crate given that the area would be alot smaller. BDL
