Sometimes and maybe :)

There is a dog who shows quite a bit I know of, does well is 6 and has never had a litter. It titled ages ago and I would have thought if the dog was good enough quality - which it certainly is - they would have had a litter if it was possible. It leads me to believe it is not possible. I may be wrong but that is what I think. It is still shown and with success. I also can see where people are coming from when they say well why bother becasue they cannot be bred from. From the flip side though, you can show geldings and neuter cats. Many Catteries and studs are known on the strength of their neuters and geldings. If the quality of what they desex is top notch ten those they keep entire is going to be brillaint - well in general :D Many geldings are spectacular, when asked why they were gelded? their brother, other colt was better. If I was looking for a great horse I look at the quality of their geldings. I think in time the neuter class can work just as well. See a stunning example of a breed that is male?? use his father, or other relative.

My premiums and excess both went up this year, the premium went from $480 or there abouts to $540 or thereabouts. The excess is now $125 but the yearly amount is now $10000 not $9000. Rommi's premium didn't go up and I thought it would after her claim for TPLO surgery.

I have been on both sides of the desk adn trust me sometimes the dogs and cat in thwaiting room have more braincells that the idiots that brought them in. I had one guy take mortal offence becasue after his offlead dog, yes signs said all dogs must be on a lead, there are leads outside the door, his dog didn't need one apparently - had cocked it's leg 5 times in the waiting room, I growled at it as it went to do it again and then picked it up. He spat it and said he doesn't know he isn't supposed to do that he is a dog. I said he may not know but you do and it's your job to either control him or teach him. He picked is dog up and stormed out the front and waited with his dog offlead in the carpark(pissing on everything) near a very busy road. Some people just don't list. We had resident cats but they sat on the counter, if the went into the waiting area they got plucked up and put out the back. If any dog or cat was worried or fixated on them, they got put out the back. I no longer work there but go to the same vet. I have had someone I know let their dog rush up to mine-luckily both friendly, then proceeded to tell me she was there because she had sarcoptic mange - I was ropeable!!!!!!!! I ahve one dog who loves everyone and roo roo's at them as she desperately wants a pat. Some people think she is growling. I always say to her clearly (more for the persons benefit) no youa re not saying hello, not everyone likes you. Some people have actually thanked me for not allowing my dog to approach them and/or their dog/cat. If a dog approaches mine I always tell them to leave it, seems that makes people think mine may eat theirs so they usually back off - not always. Luckily mine are small enough I pick them up. I take my dogs down the kennels but they are put behind a babygate in another room when dogs are dropped off or picked up.

I have had an infected tendon from a cat scratch and a hand that blew up to twice the size it should of and a huge amount of pain. Took two differnt lots of antibiotic to clear it up - nasty. It was interestingly my own indoor cat that did it when I went to grab him as he went to bolt out the door and I frightened him.

I agree, I think my prices are very reasonable and love, extra care and attention are part of the package, not extras.

Looking at it from the other side, a few weeks is pretty normal and not all that long. A good kennel will look after your dog very well and they should be happy and relaxed when going home, yes you get the odd thousand mile an hour one, but they should still be happy. Things like clam shells or similar in hot weather for those that like them I would think would be pretty common as would spending time with each dog. Personally I love watching their individual personalities emerge. I have had a few that sit in the corner quite stressed and bark at you, but within a short time you can earn their trust and they settle really well. I am looking after a golden oldie at the moment and he has stressed me a little in the beginning but he is coping very well now and his fun bouncy personality is shining through. Honestly withing a little as half an hours the dogs are settling ina dn finding their place in the scheme of things and quite happy, the odd one may take a little longer but I think the owners worry more than the dogs do.

Will Snake Catchers Remove Snakes From The Backyard...

Tigers also lilke swimming so while they love frogs, they will also go for a dip in a trough or pond, especially if it is very hot. -
Will Snake Catchers Remove Snakes From The Backyard...
OSoSwift replied to pipsqueak's topic in General Dog Discussion
Looks like a brown snake to me, but our tigers are black with an underbelly from yellow through to a very dark orange and quite often you can't see any stripes. Our Tigers are the defensive ones around here with the browns only getting agro if they are cornered/attacked. I would prefer a brown moving through to a tiger. I have also found if you have resident tigers around here they don't stay out of your way at all. The go where they please and don't seem to move away. One farmer down here had one in his shed and he had to wear wellies, as every time he went in this snake would have a go at him and rush him being very defensive. He put up with it for quite a while as he thought it would move on, but it didn't and in the end it was dispatched. I have been told having a resident python can help keep venomous snakes away, not sure how true it is but an old farmer swore by it and did whatever he could to keep his rather large, very well fed Carpet python in his shed. -

I have 5 acres that are mowed, no wood or junk piles and I see quite a few all venomous. I would call and ask them, they can only say yes or no -
Maybe if the cat wasn't outside it's property it wouldn't have been harassed?? Report it to council, if you can get supporting evidence by way of video with your mobile phone even better.

Qantas Says No To American Staffordshire Terriers
OSoSwift replied to Red Fox's topic in In The News
You can fly animals out of our airport, I am sure Albury would be bigger than our town. Because the planes are smaller you can have difficulties flying really big crates. We flew a sea lion to AQWA in Perth no worries and have flown possums to the zoo in Perth. ETA we only have one company that comes down here - Skywest and since every time they try to introduce some competition and Skywest has a tantrum it will remain that way for some time to come! -
Could you juice or blitz some raspberries and add the juice to the water? What is the rate please ie mms of cordial or juice to water?

I agree with that Pav. I have always considered it normal for a bitch to have a break. I have always been told if they are comfortable, not straining etc etc leave them be- not sure I would happily wait 7 or 8 hours with no checks up and no worrying though, that might be a bit long for me. I would also not consider an Oxytocin injection a mandatory part of whelping unless there were placentas that were not accounted for.
-
I use them - need some more at the moment- and yes they do work. I tried a pee post first and that didn't really work do tried the dog rocks. I had lots of brown patches in the lawn and within a couple of weeks there were no new ones and the others were growing back. After using a few packets in a row, no brown patches at all. I don't change it monthly or whenever they say, I wait until I see a brown patch or two then change them. I think they work really well.
-
My vet won't give it out either. I would imagine most people count placentas in relation to number of puppies so would know if one is retained.

OMG I am so very sorry to hear about your puppy. I think if they stuff you around that you have every right to go ballistic on their arse. Hope your girl is all better very soon. What an awful thing to happen

How Long To Wait After Second Vaccination?
OSoSwift replied to Pinarelloman's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I carried my Dobe until 18 weeks of age. Admitidly the trips were shorter and I stayed reasonably close to the car to give my arms a break, but when I had her, three vaccines where the norm and I was told to keep her in until 18 weeks. I decided she needed to get out and about but safely so I carried her everywhere. -
OOOH maybe contact Rainers, sounds like the perfect person to speak to regarding a rescue and the breed you would like. Oh and interestingly the original question was asking honest opinions regarding getting a poundy, rescue or dog from a breeder for the OP's particular situation, so are you suprised there are posts relating to which options people think are best?????????????

My largest costs ahve been from non health tested, unregistered dogs. I have spent money on both my unrego-d and rego'd dogs. Sometimes it has been due to accident, sometimes avoidable hereditary disease. I have dogs I have to spend money occassionally, however I know I will spend less and get my heart broken less if I buy a dog that is not a genetic lottery.

Costs me $99 for a yearly C5 and MORE if I do triennial and three canine cough vaccines. My vet doesn't want to do triennial vaccines I have to say I am very surprised a vet nurse has not heard of triennial vaccination. Do you not read the veterinarian and other magazines that come out regarding latest drugs etc etc?

Opinions Of Youtube Please
OSoSwift replied to Lablover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I do remember watching a sheep dog demonstration once where the guy put a young pup into the pen with some quiet sheep to gauge his instinct. The little dog was amazing so switched on, so drivey. His comment was great he is going to be a fantastic sheep dog. Now to try and catch the little blighter!!! It was so funny, it took him a good 10 minutes to catch the pup and everytime he got too close you could see the pup give him a quick glance like, get outta the way will ya, or geez he's moved a fair way, gotta get these sheep in the right place again - zoom. He did get a big cheer and a round of applause when he did catch the little fella. I think the pup looks great, yes he is young and yes you wouldn't want to do it every day but the way I look at it is, the Lab is a working dog they should be a sound breed that doesn't have to be wrapped in cotton wool just to get them through to adulthood. A fit working Lab is a sight to behold -
I also have Petplan and have had no issues claiming. My dogs TPLO surgery went thorugh no worries and her yearly premium hasn't gone up due to the fact she has had the surgery either which I am pleased about.
