Personally I think no you can't ask. It sounds as if neither sets of dogs were under effective control - i.e couldn't be called back, and both sets of dogs went in to fight. If you had called your dogs back and they were complying you may have more of a leg to stand on. In this case I think it's just one of those things. Hope Peanut is okay and the dogs bounce back okay.

I got an 8 week old puppy when I had a 5 mo and a 2yo. Being organised was the key as well as the fact the 5 mo was very easy going and the 2 yo already well versed with what was and was not accepted. I had a puppy pen set up so if I had to change a nappy, puppy was scooped upa dn put in there to minimise toilet accidents or chewing issues. Also the breeder of my puppy and I spoke at length about temperments, what I wanted, any worries I had etc etc. The puppy I got was the quietest in the litter and she told me if one of the otehrs was the only one available she wouldn't have sent me the puppy as she was very full on. What did make me think what the hell have I done was when the baby slept through until 6.30 at least and the puppy woke me up during the night, I did laugh about it though :) My previous dog had died 7 weeks before my baby was born and after having a rough time with his birth I was spiraling into depression. That little pup gave me something fun and positive that didn't involve bums and nappies and washing and pulled me up and out of it. I personally think Whippets make one of the best quietest, best house/kids dogs around :)

Excactly - I was about to say the same thing. Surely not all of the other animals are unable to be rehomed due to pending legal cases etc. The are morons. LAst time the WA RSPCA was going ona bout being overcrowded etc they had a grand total of two dogs up for adoption, yep two. SAFE Perth had 150.................hmmmmmmm

Can Advantix Cause Diarrhoea
OSoSwift replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Exactly. I now own a particular breed of cat, only had mogs before. Through much research and going to a breed specific forum I have found that they should not be given Ketamine. Not because there is a specific problem with the drug rather this particular breed of cat has had reactions to it caused by in the majority of cases, an undiagnosed underlying condition. No ones fault but the side effect is sudden death. Now I could call hearsay and plow on regardless but I could also end up with dead cats. Not a risk I am going to take when there are alternatives. -
Another Joint Supplement: Rose-hip Vital Canine

Mine is on the powder -
I wouldn't GA and Xray at this age. How much running is she doing at the beach? Talk to her breeder. Most young Labs I have seen waddle to some degree, how bad her waddle is??? Who knows. Unless she appears in pain, has an obvious gait issue, or her breeder thinks it necessary, leave her until 12 months and xray her then.

Another Joint Supplement: Rose-hip Vital Canine

I have recently started Rommi on this. I started her on a half dose due to previous gastric bleeding after metacam she also does not tolerate Rimadyl. So far she is going very well. -
Firstly please don't panic. Secondly every sector of life has nasty people, dogs are no exception. Thirdly how is your puppy? How is she walking/trotting/running? What is it that led this person to state they think your pup has HD? Fourthly dogs can have HD and no one is any the wiser until a dog is xrayed for hip scoring etc. some dogs can be very lame but show little change on X-ray. Guess what I am saying is a person cannot categorically say a dog, especially a 4 mo puppy has HD from observation alone

One Of The Consequences Of Sleeping With Dogs.
OSoSwift replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Definitely no raw bones inside - the thought of all the bacteria never mind putting them in your bed - yuk!!!!! I have cat sandtrays in the laundry - cats don't go out and we don't have a cat run yet - and I check them whenever I walk past. Previously I have cleaned them 6 times a day. I am not a germaphobe by any means, but some of these stories have me positively green around the gills!!!! -
That's fantastic :) I will be channeling you when I next get in the ring - which could be MONTHS away but I will file this thread away for future reference. I also tend to go out with the attitude I am almost apologising for my ineptness. No longer :)

One Of The Consequences Of Sleeping With Dogs.
OSoSwift replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have only had dogs pass little nuggets of poop when they are old and have some incontinence issues. There is no way I could sleep in a bed that had been peed or pooped on, and any bitch in season or leaving discharge post babies would be confined behind a baby gate, puppy pen or crate - yuk! -
5 Months Old Puppy Dies During Simple Surgery
OSoSwift replied to Pockets's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our veterinary hospital has out the back staff and out the front staff. They have vets that are doing surgery and those that are consulting. Did the have no monitoring equipment on him???? A pulse ox would go off if there was an issue and I think that is the one I hear beaping when the vets are doing surgery in time with the heart beat??? When I was working at our vets a new grad vet would have a nurse monitoring the GA the whole time plus an experienced vet who popped in very regularly and was only in the next room should there be an issue. I am so sorry for your and Harley's family's losses. You are a very compassionate and considerate person to offer them Tig -
I have ordered mine for the Whips already :)

Well done :) definately worth speaking up. How scary for yout hough

I have one who has been around many dogs adn didn't cucle until 18 months - same as her grandmother. She currently is exposed to many dogs and bitches in season and still does what she does which is cycle around 7 monthly

I would beta fine and wrap it. Beta fine helps to dry it out and prevent infection, wrap keeps it clean and stop them licking it. Should only take a few days to improve lots :) I wrap most foot type injuries even if only for a few days

How Often Do We Do The 'annual' Vaccination?

Isn't the vaccine for Bordatella brontiseptica a vaccination against a bacterial component of kennel cough? -
Funny Things You Have Heard About Your Breed...
OSoSwift replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hahahaha Our very good working dog slept on the end of my bed and would work her guts out -
To be honest your posts do have a cost cutting to e to them. I personally think that asking purchase price is not unreasonable as I don't commit to buying anything without knowing what it will cost. Asking for money off if a second vaccination was given and asking if they could deliver the pup to the airport to save costs would also raise flags for me. I am sure if the question was, would it be possible for you to take the pup to the airport for me, I am of course happy to pay fuel - or something similar - then that would be different. The costs AFTER you purchase a pup are the biggest ones, so to me it would make more sense in focusing on those costs once you have a fairly good idea on puppy and transport costs. I have always researched and booked my puppies flights myself after liasing with the breeder as to best times/days for them to take the puppy to the airport. I also always give them a bit extra to cover fuel even when not asked.

Because I Was Asked In Another Topic:
OSoSwift replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh and I have no idea if any money has been left to look after the dogs as I am not worried about that. I will do exactly as I was asked to do by each person. Any financial cost is mine to bear once I agreed to care for/rehome the dogs -

I am the benefactor of around 6 dogs now. I have spoken in length about what they would like to happen ie rehomed, euthed etc. Two of the people are elderly, one you with young and elderly dogs. My own will stay with my family if it is only me gone or returned to their breeders.
