  1. Is there anywhere that has the numbers on colours regod in dogs (ANKC) for each breed in one year? So say the percentage of whippets that were rego'd in 2012 that were fawn is 35% - for example. Thanks :)
  2. Who hoo how exciting!!!!!!! Can't wait. Rommi is a bit quiet and has a bit of a temp today so hmmm keeping a close eye on her at this point.
  3. Do they forget Labradors are in fact a working breed??? Young Labs can be more boisterous and full on than a young dog of many of the working breeds. Plus they are not a small dog. Bloody ill informed idiots!
  4. Thats a worry, Mainly the not knowing how and all the maybe don't really knows.............
  5. Goodness me now that is an impressive baby belly. Fuscia is going great guns. My little porkers are all over 500gms this morning :) piggy bums they are :)
  6. Considering what that man has been through his interview was amazing, This is soemthing he will never get over, but he spoke so well and in such a considered way
  7. My OH lived on a road that was his surname anyway so that would change very little really - not to mention his surname is not common :)
  8. What makes me uncomfortable about this argument is that we can say exactly the same about puppy farm dogs. They know no different, they aren't committing suicide etc therefore this is "normal" for them. Wow, this is making me think. Yes, all of a sudden put that way it seems different doesn't it. There are far worse things that can happen to a dog than painless euthanasia. And yes I know people will jump on that statement and say how is it better they are dead. Well it is living beings can survive some horrific things and death would be much better than what some animals endure daily
  9. They are stunning bubbas, how gorgeous
  10. it reminds me a bit of that paralysed kangaroo that some woman had in the US and she'd carry it round and dress it up. I think sometimes, just because something can be kept alive, it doesn't necessarily mean it should be. Exactly
  11. Woohoo congratulations :) Can't wait for photos :)
  12. I didn't give my bitch her sentinel she was due for during pregnancy, she had one before she was mated, I have her an intestinal all wormer 10 days prior to whelping, then will do her and puppies when they are two to three weeks old :)
  13. No issue here, if they look a bit tubbier their food gets cut back but at least a 1/4 if not a 1/2 until I am happy with it, if theya re leaner it gets put up. If they have done very little for the day they get less, if they have done heaps they get more. The dogs never beg or dribble or carry on for tidbits, if they did they would be put outside. My kids can eat takeaway foor or an icecream in the backseat adn the dogs won't even look sidesways, occassionally they try to sniff and one uhuh and they lay their head back down. I am in charge of food for all beasties, now I just need a chef to control my portions!
  14. After a long and rather drawn out Whelping we are finally finished. We ended up with a Darker Fawn with white trim bitch, a Fawn Brindle with White trim bitch, a Blue Brindle Parti boy and a Blue Fawn Parti girl.
  15. Just checking he had a full length hard palate slit, and was 100gms smaller so wondering in he passed away a few days or more ago?
  16. We are on our way, right on due day :) The first pup took a bit of effort and was coming backwards and needed a little help, however all is good. Number 2 was tail first!!!! Then the sack broken and her feet went plop down! So far we have 7.01am brindle bitch with white markings 335gms 7.22am light brindle bitch with white markings 335gms Currently working on number 3 :)
  17. Generally only very few. One in particular but you get those. There is another boarding kennel here that is cheaper is set out and built differently to mine and I believe does not offer the same service. Generally people that have price as their main concern go there. I did have someone comment one day that they had been told I was expensive ($2 per day more than the other local one) but was definitely worth it, so I guess that is a bit of a back handed compliment :) Most people ask the price and have no issues with what they are told. Some people will complain about anything so if they try to barter I give them the number of the other kennels :)
  18. Yes it is. I am always watching dogs body language when there are two together. I take what the owner says but on one occasion had two bitches together, a new dog came in which obviously upset one bitch, I raced in opened their run, yelled which gave me time to grabbed the littler one and scoot her out between my legs and slam the gate. Luckily one tooth mark was the only injury. They were separated after that and owners informed, along with a behaviourist recommendation after I was told yeh they sometimes do that at home!!! You need to be on your toes and closely watch what they are telling you. There are dogs they don't know in a confined area and it does make them react in varying ways that out not the norm for them
