Got my frogz togz, got the large, even though the chart said to go extra large. There is plenty of room and the pants I possibly could have gone medium, however I will definately have room to put them over my pants/jeans so it's all good. The jacket fits well, enough room but not to big :)

Vets All Natural - Perfect Puppy Nutrition
OSoSwift replied to Dr Bruce Syme's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
No it isn't stupid as I am quite sure I asked the same one some time ago :) I also don't really like the fact you have all quanitites for all of the varieties on the back of every packet. But I am used to it now :) -
Not an over reaction at all!!

You can used sudafed but all our pharmacies no longer carry sudoephadrine products. There are other medications available from vets, incur in and propalin, both very safe drugs from what I know about them

I would be taking them outside for a toilet break every hour. It was very cold here so mine were inside more than I would have preferred, but they went outside often and if they had to be locked in they had a big puppy pen with fake grass to toilet on. By 6 weeks all toilets were outside or on the fake grass

What Do You Do With Your Dogs When You Go Out?
OSoSwift replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry that is rubbish. Personally I do not think it is healthy for a dog to be locked inside all day, I think they need fresh air and sunshine. My a Whippets spend a lot of time with me and that is in or outside depending what I am doing. If a dog is not outside very often of course it will be overstimulated as it hasn't had a chance to realise there is no big deal. I do agree does should not be dumped in a backyard 24/7 however I have had dogs who were outside all the time who were wonderful well trained companions under all distractions - after all isn't that the aim? to be not worried by distractions in any environment?? I can understand if there is inadequate shade or theft or baiting is a worry or a medical issue but geez, they need to be dogs and get dirty and feel rain and sun. My baby puppies started going outside at 4 weeks for short stints then on nice days spent the day outside digging holes, chasing flies and soaking up some sun. They are very happy well adjusted babies -
The criminal is responsible. A dog is not released or allowed near a person without repeated and due warning. If the police told me to stop or they would release the dog I would stop without question! Fortunately my life is not that interesting so the chances of it happening are extremely low!

What Do You Do With Your Dogs When You Go Out?
OSoSwift replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
Mine go into their dog yard. I can't leave them locked inside as it is too hot in summer and I have a phobia about having a house fire and they are locked in and cant get away. Also if we have a bush fire go through they are safer surrounded by green grass than in a house. Their dog yard is fully grassed and has a tree in it. There are two dog runs attached with crates and sack beds. Currently I have the two adults together and the last remaining pup and my own together with the dog yard fenced into two. Once Wilson is older they will all go in together. They have toys, bones, treats and have no worries with fighting so far. Snakes are a real issue here, so no dog doors for us and the dog yard is fully fenced with snakemesh and has rubber seals on the gates etc. Sometimes if we go out in the evening and I forget to put them in the yard and leave them inside they are usually asleep and have no idea we were missing. -
Puppy flower smackdown!!! She is exquisite!

My vets are happy to do after babies are weaned and the boobs have gone back (so they don't hang down over the wound if possible) so they are happy for me to book her in anytime. Hmmm decisions decisions. I want it done, she is not going to have any more babies, but it's still hard to do if that makes sense...................
-
Oh okay, she is 9 weeks post whelp now. She had a tough time having the babies, but after that it was all good. She was a walking jersey cow but didn't lose a heap of weight - took a lot of food but I kept her body condition up really well. Apart from doing her post baby coat change you really wouldn't know she has had babies - apart from the land sharks under your feet!

Yes until resigning their membership very recently

At lot of crap and a lack of true info in there however I would be interested if the parents of the puppy had been hip scored and what those scores were. I also think the dog looks overweight. Having said that none of this suprises me after knowing dogs from these kennels.
-
She is an elderly lady now so maybe she is thinking about not breeding any more, but honestly if people have not heard about these dogs and the issues that many of them have it would be suprising. Yes she was registered, had been for years, as for doing Hip scores etc I am not sure but the chances are they were not done, at least not for a very long time.
-
Yep agreed. You cannot produce and present a puppy who is never going to get sick or have any issues. It would be nice to think the BYBers may get a dose of reality but it will probably end up that Regod and therefore traceable breeders will bear the brunt and the idiots will get off Scott free as normal

Someone did put a link up a little while ago for the blue backed stuff I will comb my memory banks and see if I can remember where it was from

Confused As To What To Do Next?
OSoSwift replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Been thinking of you and hoping you are going okay. -
I am assuming you also mean two months after pups are weaned?
-
So that would make it towards the end of October early November. I had a Rotti bitch desexed at 8 months, by 18 months she had incontinence I had a Dobe bitch who was desexed at around 6, she was speyed around a week after a c section due to uterine infection. And a Dobe who was 5 and desexed right in the middle of her seasons, within 18 months she had incontinence as well. I don't know what I do that is do wrong
-
I do not feed my dogs any treats, foods or anything that is not made in Australia. I saw a recipe very recently that took two mashed bananas, enough VAN to make it a firm dough, then put it onto a tray like small biscuits and cook until firm but they remain chewy. I can find the recipe if you are interested.
-
Physically she has returned to normal as in teats are flat and not pendulous. I was wondering if her Uterus would be more friable after a litter and if that would affect timing. If it was just between seasons I would do it in the middle. Might do it around 2 months after she weaned her babies then. I haven't had much luck in regard to Spey incontinence before regardless of timing so will do just about anything to avoid it that I can. Thank you for your suggestions

The rubber backed one isn't as bulky or hard to was as the green backed

I am looking at desexing my bitch, she is 6 in January and had puppies 9 weeks ago. She normally cycles around 7 to 8 monthly. When is the best time to look at desexing her?

What Breeds Are Most Common In Your Area?
OSoSwift replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Bull breeds and their crosses, working dogs and their crosses. We have a real mix and lots of BYB purebreds and many more multi crosses, even had a litter advertised that was a rare oodle cross.
