  1. I believe there has also been loss of life and also that for some they haven't had time to evacuate due to the speed of the fire. My thoughts are with all affected by this, and our firies who work so hard
  2. Just heard that 20 homes have been lost so far. Fire is very much out of control and moving very fast.
  3. There are a few fires around Perth currently but that one is the worst at the moment. I know further down south they are also evacuating. Fingers crossed for everyone
  4. It depends on if you want him on the bed. If the plan was he would eventually sleep on the bed then who cares. If you don't want him on there then stick him back in his crate and buy everyone ear plugs until he gets over it.
  5. How terrible, something seriously wrong in that dog pack. And yes it does sound like siblings were kept. Very tragic
  6. I have no idea who it is. As I said I do understand stuff happens and I am quite sure if that is made clear and communication is upheld there would be no issues. I am quite sure pretty much anybody would have no issue with that. I don't expect the rego papers to be ready when I pick the puppy up as I understand these things take time and I know with Dogs West it can take from a couple of weeks to a month - if you don't fast track. However, I would expect to see them well before twelve months. I can see that having to register and transfer between registeries and from the breeder to the new owner is a bit of a paper shuffle and could cost more money - around $20 to $25 from memory, As a buyer I would prefer to pay the extra $25 and not have to wait for a whole litter to be sold etc and maybe wait months and months for rego papers. I am not saying a breeder is bad if the papers are taking a bit longer or the new buyer has been informed of such. But I have often seen people say buy a purebred registered dog, getting papers is important, its your only guarentee your dog is what your breeder says it is etc etc. So pet buyers are doing that and then when they get concerned regarding a lack of communication and pedigree papers not arriving they are basically told they are overreacting.
  7. so what happens if you have bought a puppy on main register as show potential but you can't show the pup becasue you don't have the papers? I understand shit happens but if people are going to hold off doing the papers then the people buying the puppies should be told there is going to be a delay, or may be a delay. If they emailed a breeder and the breeder replied there had been a fire, flood, death etc etc then I am quite sure most people who happily deal with that (well okay some wouldn't but you know :) ) So whilst I understand life sometimes throws curve balls, I would imagine MOST breeders would get their paperwork in order in a timely manner. Timely to me is not 12 months(or more) with little to no correspondence. Oh and I would imagine that it is quite possible to register the litter into the breeders name, then when transfering them change registers if required in all of Associations across Australia? So why wouldn't breeders register the whole litter so they can get paperwork out to those that have their puppy's and then any they have held back to grow out etc they can change those as required?
  8. I think the success will also depend on if it is closed or open. I only know of one with an open pyo treated then had babies next heat no issues. Most people opt to desex. My bitch had an open, treated her with AB's but desexed her before her next season.
  9. Far too long, a month, two months maximum. As said contact the state control body in your area
  10. You want your puppy lean, not the heaviest. One may be faster to mature than the other. I worry about bones and joints in puppy's where they are on the heavier end of their weight range. Akitas are a large breed but to me not a giant one, if you wanted the biggest dog then you should have look at bigger breeds like Mastiffs etc. They should be well filled out and fit for their frame, not for what the scales say.
  11. Woohoo :) Only dog people would be that excited about a poo :) Great news
  12. A friend had a very solid imposing Dobe bitch called Kitty. That used to confuse people quite a bit. You would here Kitten come! And her Dobe would come zooming up. She was actually named kitty hawk which I believe is a helicopter. I think Wreck it was the one with Brett Reason is a brilliant name :)

  14. Unfortunately dogs get stuck with stupid owners every day. And kids get stuck with stupid parents! Because of course I am perfect at both :D
  15. Bahahahaha very funny, but the way you have written it was even funnier :) Smart dogs I would say :)
  16. Yes I appear to be embarrassed if someone pulled up my kids - mainly because I would be annoyed at myself from not have stepped in sooner!! Having said that my kids would have been dealt with swiftly and effectively at the first sign of an issue. Not all kids are like that, they are what the parents create. Considering the dads actions have shown you that he thinks the behaviour is okay that gives you the answer there. The owner needs a smack around the ears for allowing the incident to take place.
  17. Am I right in thinking the concrete paver area has shade cloth protecting it from the sun but is still getting too hot? If so have you considered installing a misting system in that area?
  18. Just though I would share a little updated photo This is Wilson aged 5.5months
  19. My dog had a straight forward surgery on one leg it cost $2600. I am sure a specialist vet would cost more
  20. I have not owned a rescue or pound dog - I have owned adult rehomes. I would not got to a pound or rescue as my first choice. If it was my only choice I would go to a breed rescue that knew what they were doing. This does not make me a bad person it makes me a good one. If any as I am less liekly to get a dog I can't live with. Good for the dog, good for me. I do not want to take on dogs with potentially lots of issues I need to undo, retrain then get onto training the dog the way I woudl like it. I like to get a puppy from sound parents and a breeder who gives them a good start. No one place is perfect to get a dog from but this road for me gives me the best chances of getting what I want.
  21. Detailed report from the vet, legal advice. Personally I think the RSPCA are a bunch of egotistical greedy arseholes. There are some wonderful people within the organisation but as a whole nope. We are hearing a one sided, secondhand story. They way I see there are three sides to every story, yours, theirs, and somewhere in the middle the truth. I also wonder about the if there is smoke there is fire saying.......
  22. Having lived with dogs who fought and tried to kill each otehr then had to be sperated until the eldest passed on you have done the right thing for all involved. It is very stressful living with dogs who fight and having to keep them seperate as one wrong move and they go in for the kill! I would keep in touch but not visit. I know your heart is breaking but find some comfort in the fact that you put your dogs first.
  23. I have bought mine from K9 Pro, I haven't compared prices with anywhere else as I was purchasing other stuff as well :)
  24. Now I have boarding kennels there are some dogs I could easily take home and quite a few I love them in the short term and happily send them home!!!! Many I click with because of their breed and I understand them, some I like just because they are them regardless of breed. There are also some breeds I know now I could not and would never own!
