I may have once said to my mum that with her medical issues, if she was a dog I would remove her from my breeding program................

These people are not ignoring laws ( in the vast majority) they are taking their dogs (and kids) to the appropriate businesses and not to those that don't want them. I am assuming you have never had to share hotel rooms, public transport and planes with guide dogs, diabetic alert dogs or formally accredited assistance dogs then? Only a few days ago if was seated in the outdoor area of out local cafe. A CKCS came in with his owner, laid at her feet and she have him a drink out if the bowl etc she had brought with her. If I hadn't of seen him walk in I wouldn't have known he was there. He was quiet, was sleeping infront of her feet(under the table) the only impact he had was when a lady who was travelling on a large cruise liner that was docked in town, asked if she may pat him. I don't see what is so offensive about that?

I haven't met a huge amount of the larger megabuck mongrels, but those I have are not for the faint hearted!! They are some decidedly insane very large dogs. We have many small megabuck mongrels and there have been three in my 15 years of grooming I could take home. If the don't have terrible conformation, they have terrible temperaments - or both!! I have one who comes into the kennels that is apparently a f3 or 4 labradoodle he is chocolate, border collie sized and has a coat like a flat coat but with shorter furnishings. He is lovely, I could keep him :)

Not for a long time. We do have one cafe now where we can take them and sit in a nice quiet outside area. But you still have to go in and order and I don't want to leave them tied up. If you don't want to go to a cafe with dogs, either go inside or to one that doesn't have dogs. If a dog was annoying mine I would ask that management tell the owners to contain or remove it. As I live out if town I only take the dogs when I specifically need or want to do they are not sitting in the car. If it is winter I will take them, but then it is too cold to sit outside :)

We call our cats 'the boys' we also call our children the boys, so we do get some confusion. My dogs have people names and one child in particular seems to get called Lewis. The dogs get, Lewis?Rommi?, Wilson, whichever shithead you are, do as you are told! Usually I call them the whippets or puppies as a collective. I don't think I have ever called them fur kids, could call the cats skin kids though :) My whippets do have a bit of a wardrobe, as do the cats, but they feel the cold. They don't sleep with me as I already have two cats that do. I would probably have them sleep with me if I was by myself though.

I ask the dogs wheres your dad? but I also ask the kids that so the dogs respond. I don't call them my kids and they are more than the dogs, they are the Whippets. Or as my husband says, they are not just dogs they are whippets :) I don't really care what they get called as long as they are trained and treated appropriately. Lots of people tell me their dog is their baby. Sometimes that mean they are over indulged, badly trained little shits, sometimes it means they are dogs who are loved dearly. I don't really care.

I would imagine under those circumstances with a letter from a vet they should be happy with that. Alsthough these days getting a titre is quite easy.
-
I would imagine chipping would be the way to go. I can see it would be useful in certain situations but not sure about it's use in pet dogs.
-
I have heard about this on another forum I go on. The vet we have on there is not a fan and apparently it is rather painfull for the dogs. I do see where it has it's place - street, camp populations etc. I will watch with interest

So very sorry to catch up on DOL and read this. I fully agree with getting the xrays done. You need to know what you are facing to the best of your ability and not surmise. I hope she gets good pain relief and yes acupuncture can do amazing things. All the very best from me and my Whippets to you and yours. The kids send dobby noses.

Babies are noisy even when sleeping. Small squaeky type sounds may have been enough to engage the dog.

Of course there are clothes out there between holey jeans and mother of the bride. Just this weekend I saw many combinations from pants and tops, skirts and jackets, suits and yes some looked MOB but I also like the fact we get dressed for the ring. To me to present not only your dog but yourslef well for the ring is a sign of respect.

It would be based on breed I would imagine a Great Dane is a larger breed than a Labrador. In my program I charge the same for medium and large then a little more for giant breeds. What material were the runs constructed of? I have never seen happy tail here yet. I have no doubt the dog in this story is a large cross breed mutt of indeterminent heritage. It will also have a severe lack of training and discipline.

Because the C3 has less componants for her immune system to mount a response to she should be less likely to have a reaction than to a C5. Fingers crossed she will be just fine :)
-
If you are only going to do one then titre I would do a C3. The 5 has kennel cough in it and that only covers around 6 months in reality anyway. Even after a year (when many are given their C5 booster) you won't be giving her a booster and titre testing doesn't test for it. In reality if she gets any reaction it will probably be a small lump, possibly be a bit off or quiet. Giving her the 3 rather than 5 will help reduce any potential for side effects.

hmmmm I will work out what my mix was I thought it was less than that, but yes there is a fair bit of the VAN mix, especially when you compare it to the cats mix, they have quite a bit more meat.
-
Excellent news :) Areas like that are also good if for any reason he needs to be kept quieter ie recovery from surgery. Of if you have people over say for a BBQ or tradies coming and you are worried about someone leaving the gate open or feeding cooked bones etc.

As I have said before - more than once, seems some choose only to remember what they wish too. I have no issue with biology classes, butchering classes - if there is such a thing. But really I am sick of it now. You choose to take the odd bit here and there and then try to fabricate crap that we are all thinking when we are not - or at least I am not. I have said my bit, repeatedly, more than once. It seems you have a problem with comprehension. I have no desire to repeat it again for those that seem to have a memory retention problem.

So now I am immature because I don't agree with your opinion. Since when does anyone HAVE to agree with someone else's opinion? It is an opinion after all. If giraffe's were raised as a food animal, euthed and butchered 'out the back' I would have far less issue with it, as I have said many times I have no issues with euthing and feeding out, just not the public spectacle. I am honestly having difficulty with the fact you are so much of the opinion that only yours is the correct one that you cannot see that some people do not agree with how things were carried out and why even after people have tried to explain it politely as they possibly can, you still don't get it in the slightest. These are peoples opinions there is no yes or no answer.

Feeling Helpless - Lost/stolen Pup
OSoSwift replied to Remarkabull's topic in General Dog Discussion
Saturate all forms of media in the whole state. Two Rotties were stolen and their story was shared on here - one was pregnant. They ended up being returned and the belief was they just got too hot. Have you created a Facebook group/page? Share the link here so we can get sharing -
I found this interesting and whilst off topic, is that their stance on all animals or only ones in zoo's?
-
Okay, My personal opinion is the giraffe is taken to the area to be euthed, is euthed in a humane way, is cut up to be fed out, is fed out. Done dusted. No issue, No public display. People there that need to be there and no more. That is what I think is an appropriate way to do it. Having the public there is turning it into a circus. When I get sheep and cattle butchered it is done with a minimum of fuss, people and handling. The aim is to get it done quickly, cleanly adn with the leasta mount of stress to the animal as possible. It is not a public display. If a group of apprentices were to come out and watch, then I could deal with that, they need to learn such things for their employment. Should the general public wish to come, nope. Having said that I think they fact they have told everyone exactly what they were doing and why in a frank and open way is commendable
-
I have an issue with the fact it was made a public circus. I do not have an issue with an animal being humanley destroyed and/or fed out for the fourth time! The difference is I would be killing my animal for food not a circus. Yes I breed them to be killed to eaten, not for a circus. I interact with my animals as a mob, they are not named and not friendly. They recieve treatment but as they are not stud animals I would not be able to tell you if I had treated a sheep for anything twice or something else previously. They are prorvided with all the things they require in life and I pride myself on the health and care of any animal in my care, pet or otherwise. I do not form the relationships with my commercial animals that I do with my pet sheep, cows, Alpaca and horses. Anything I feed, that is named is a pet and stays until it dies of old age or humane euthanasia.

absolutely agree.
