It annoys me when they pluck random breed names out of thin air. I am glad they have the dog and he is going to face a heft fine. Lets hope HW's council gets a flare up their backside and does the right thing.

I bought an IMAX. 3 whippet fit easily in a very large crate in the cargo area- plus dog stuff each side if the crate. I can also fit 8 people. I went away with a friend, we had four dogs in crates plus tents, gazebos and all show and camping paraphernalia and it fitted easily. Cruising on 110 and the fuel consumption is great, very comfortable and roomy. Sometimes a little gutless overtaking up a hill but since the one I have is a 4 cylinder petrol I can deal with it. I love it and got it at under 2 years of age for a fantastic price.

Bloody hell Wreck it, that is huge. I also thought of you HW. It also makes the - oh they have never done it before so can't declare them dangerous even more stupid
-
Done - I did forget to add the amount of dogs they lived with one one dog, but remembered on the other - oops!

I wouldn't scruff and growl but I would continue to do as I wanted and yes I would growl at them if they pushed it. It is best to do nothing if unsure as if you react incorrectly and strongly you can be left with pretty big fall out.

I dare say it was. I have three entire dogs, doesn't mean I am contributing ina ny way to any issues and it doesn't mean I am not responsible

Oh the cats were allowed , just not him - I think she held a grudge! Until they got to 6 weeks then they were his, she wouldn't have anything to do with them!

Watery Bloody Poo And Vomiting

Blimey there are lots of worms there. I have heard of zipper worm but I don't think it is an issue around here. Hopefully after treatment she should be fine. -
easy solution, build a dog run elsewhere and find another piggy for the piggy house :)

I had my bitch in the laundry - before everyone jumps on me, my whole house is tiles and it was the easiest room to keep warm as it is fully insulated in all the walls and roof and just off my bedroom. It also meant I could baby gate it off. My male went to sniff the pups one day after I had told him no and he slipped past. He didn't dare go near them for near on 6 weeks after that!!! I would play it by ear but no rough play.

I would also suggest getting an xray so you have a clearer idea of how many she is having. If she has 2 and stops, is she only having 2 or can she not have any more? If you xray and she has 6 you know you need to get her to a vet ASAP. I also suggest contacting the breeder. They may well be pissed off but best they hear it now and from you. They may also be your best support. It is great to give a bitch her first season - as long as you have the required facilities. If you don't then desexing anywhere from 6 months of age is the best option. I recommend 12 months for mine - but if for any reason they cannot deal with a bitch coming into season then desex before. If one was mismated then I would recommend desexing as soon as they are off heat.

Who says people blindly trust their breeder 100% they need to find a breeder they trust and develop a relationship with them first. Of course they have every right to say no I don't want that puppy. I had developed a relationship with my puppy buyers well before the litter was born. We covered in depth their family life and what they wanted to do with their puppy and want traits they liked or didn't. I don't think that is blindly trusting . I did put two puppies on a plane and the first time they saw their dogs was when they got them out of the crate. I wanted those puppies to be the right ones just as badly as they wanted the right one. People do need to do their research and not go oh that person sells (insert breed here) and I want one so thanks I'll have one sight unseen. That would be stupid.

Oh okay that must be a very large pig then! Yep mesh over the top if required. I would probably mesh the inside after removing some slats but do that with say 50 X 75 x 2mm(or more) mesh, then snake mesh around the outside. Snake mesh is very fine and could be chewed reasonably easily buy a puppy or dog.

Every single person that visited my puppies fell in love with the same one. She was totally suitable for one of them, totally unsuitable for the rest. I adored her but didn't keep her for myself as her temperament wasn't what I needed and wanted. So because this was my first Whippet litter I am unqualified to know my pups and help owners get the right dog for their circumstance?? Must have got lucky then.

Looks great to me but yes what breed do you have? For me if my dogs are going to be in while I ma not there I want a really tall fence or fully enclosed. My boarding kennels are fully enclosed, my dog yard as a 2 metre fence. I would definitely go snake mesh. How tall is the existing fence? If you need to make it higher, bolt tall treated timber posts to those you already have and use mesh to make it a tall fence. Having the timber low to the groud around the bottom will help to re-direct snakes around. Not fool proof but does help :)

Watery Bloody Poo And Vomiting

They can also get stringy looking mucosey stuff when they have nasty HGE. I had a dog recently come into the kennels. Was fine for three days, fourth day had a bit of an upset tummy and a small vomit of undigested food was otherwise fine. She then had a bloody small puddle and a vomit and I rushed her off to the vets. She had HGE, but was fine within 24 hours due to not getting really unwell before going to the vets getting on a drip & AB's ASAP. With those signs - it would be vet ASAP as well for me. -
Agreed melz. Although I wouldn't do it, if it gets more people to desex then great. If not desexing for behavioural issues etc then a vasectomy is also an option.

I always reward, and the same concept as Huski. They always get a reward, it may be after a try for an exercise to 10 minutes etc, but there is always a reward. -
I taught mine to roll over but never at the end of a training session and never more than once. It may have been silly, but after having a Dobe with GDV three times I wasn't going to chance it!

Breeding For "performance", Not Show

Hahaha If my whippets didn't want to chase rabbits I would be worried. Oh to have time to persue all of my dog sporting interests - maybe a lotto win. -

Breeding For "performance", Not Show
OSoSwift replied to JRT Lover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would hazard a guess and say the reason a number of top show dogs don't have woeking titles is its simply too hard to do both. It takes a lot of time and dedication to title a dog that far. For what it's worth there are a lot of samoyeds who excel at both and there isn't an obvious divide between working and show dogs. Agreed. A lot of dedication goes into excelling in one ring never mind both or many. -

Mine do excel in any given area becasue I cannot commit to going every weekend. I know of quite a few dogs over here who are show agility and obedience champions. Sometimes they leave the ring after gaining their champion title, not because they are not good enough but because their owner does not have the interest or drive to keep competeing in the show ring. My dogs do have the ability to do better in the dog sports rings and show rings, unfortunately I do not have ready access to mentors which would help me become a better handler so they can do better in those areas, considering they have a self taught handler I think they do admirably. -
