  1. Very True Redsonic, but personally I would proceed with caution just in case! In this case this whole situation is the owners fault and no-one elses and I have to say, the dog appears to be of an unstable character. The owners have shown they cannot be trusted to do the right thing. In this case that leads to one necessary conclusion.
  2. Same. My new premium increase was much much higher for our lagotto than our cocker. I tried emailing and calling several times and got sick of waiting on hold so I emailed to cancel the policies. I really had no other choice as they were not willing or able to speak to me. Really pathetic customer service. Lagotto's aren't on the is select breed list though. Maybe Petplan think they're a mixed breed...who knows as they don't want to talk I emailed them a rather strongly worded email on Staurday. This morning I missed a call, they rang back a second time before lunch. Seems that my three pets and above discount was applied to one dog not another. They said premiums are worke dout by breeds, they are the same breed, sex and the eldest is 5.5 No claims for eitehr. OH. Eventually They came up with the above. It annoys me that you have to get pissed off and threaten them with reporting them to someone before they get off their arses and reply!
  3. They are the reason this dog has a destruction order. Not the council, the meter reader not anyone else but themselves. If they had of kept the dog confined as they should, there would never have a dangerous dog order. If the dog had been confined as per the rules it woudl never have been able to bite the metre reader. Having said all that, how freaking dumb is the meter reader to go past 4 sighns and two gates - which incidentally should have been padlocked.
  4. I have been trying to contqact them for weeks, left numerous messages to discuss why my dogs of the same breeds, no previous claims and different ages, but not old had a $60 difference in premiums. So far I have not recieved a call back and I am getting pissed off.
  5. I will attempt to find the photos for you and share, however it won't be for a few hours.
  6. Yes and badly sprained. The racing Whippet community have a very good strapping technique - depending on where the break is. You can also pin them - again depending on where the break is. I know of some who have been strapped and pinned with success. I figure you have not much to lose as amputation can always happen down the line, but pinning or strapping can't once the toe is off.
  7. Yep haven't yet worked out the cost. Mine need higher protein or one in particular starts tearing muscles.
  8. Chicken fat is not chicken protein though. Dogs that are allergic to chicken protein can handle chick fat just fine in many instances - not all, but many
  9. The protein is quite a bit higher than BH so that is good. I woudl be interested to get some and have a look.
  10. So there should be!!! That woman is a total brainless moron and should not be doing the job if she has no idea! I would be sueing them for emotional distress! I wonder if they would have said anythign and got away with it, had the owner not had footage!
  11. She stood there with the gate wide open and let it run through.. Anyone with half a brain knows you go straight through a gate and close the bloody thing. What morons and they are supposed to be rangers who have dog knowledge???????? Having said that, good reason for padlocks and not having dogs in front yards! I would be beyond furious!!!
  12. Fair call, I am closed Sunday morning, but open in the afternoon. I do have some closed days such as Easter Sunday, Christmas and Boxing day. Thank you for your comments :)
  13. What a pack of arses. The son wasn't consulted, he is obviously not happy. I'll put $20,000 on the seat next to the cat and tell him to choose WTF?????? Really????? A cat is not a piece of furniture! Yes cats get upset when they move, but I have had cats who love their people and even though moving was unsettling for them, they were happy with their person, getting in bed and snuggling up as always. They are treating the cat as an inaminate object not a living creature. How do they know the new owners will even look after her properly?? Oh thats right, doesn't matter they have a sizable bank account. Totally disgusting!
  14. I don't feed supercoat :) I also often find that dogs, even if fed the same diet as they have a home, will lose or increase in weight, so while you need a guideline you also need to use your nouce. I had one dog had I fed him what the recommended he would have been emaciated. As it was he went home lighter than he came which I wasn't happy with. Luckily I had been in regular contact with them keeping them up to date with what I was doing so they understood why he was lighter. If you need to leave at 8am and my opening times are 8.30 to 10am, then drop off the evening before. If you cannot get to either opening time of course arrangements can be made. My drop off times are 8.30 to 10am and 4 to 5.30 pm. I stay after 5.30 pm so if someone needs to pick up a dog later It doesn't worry me too much. Prior to 4 is harder and prior to 8.30am is harder as I have children that I have to get ready to catch the school bus and also to pick them up. Also my flexability outside my opening hours is dependant on situation (emergencies happen) and the persons attitude. People need to understand this business is at our home and we have families and lives and are not available 24hours a day for drop off's and pick ups - no I am not going to babysit your dog for 3 hours with a pick up at 10.30pm, yes I do need to go food shopping sometimes and very occasionally I have a doctors or dentists appointment. I do understand that dogs are people's babies but if we allowed all people just to drop off at a times that suited them we would never be able to leave. Plus you get dog breeds that are prone to bloat and you need to be able to feed when they are not going to get razzed up. Mine will all be quietly doing their thing, a car turns up and they all go off. I want to know that my gate shuts at x time - unless by prior arrangment - then I can feed everyone with less risk of issues. I do try to work with people but you do have to draw a sometimes firm line or people would be coming and going 24hours a day.
  15. Agreed Showdog, they will actually take more work even though the dog is not fed - if you clean everything properly. And while there are decreased costs involved in feeding, there are increases in costs elsewhere.
  16. My childhood dog ate what we did, slept on my bed or the mattress with the sheepskin right next to the tile fire, came on holidays etcetc, so my dogs probably live similar lives - except I don't feed them our food. I don't think them spoilt just kept in the manner to which they are accustomed :)
  17. The day boarding yards have shelter and can be used in all weather. The aim is to have very large kennels made from cool room paneling. They have shelter from large trees - although we have had to prune some as they were too big - and also from shade cloth. They are not located in my main boarding area. My main boarding area is a large shed that is fully insulated and also lined with coolroom panelling to provide insulation against extremes of temperature. There are also runs attached to the shed so they have inside and outside connected areas. Whilst the day yards will have good kennels and shade and misting systems they are not in the main part. I have grass exercise yards and am building two more large areas with enrichment to take dogs out to have a good play one on one and have some hoone around time. Feedback is always provided :) Thank you again for all feedback :)
  18. The runs are larger than those used for long term boarding. I could put three Lab sized dogs maxiumum in one run, but I would prefer two if they were young active dogs. The cleaning is possibly more as I clean each day, but when dogs go home all the walls and everything are scrubbed down, so a day stay would involve more cleaning time than a daily clean of a long term run - presuming nobody had poo painted over night etc. All bed bags are also changed every time a dog goes out, so that would be daily in the day yards. Play time is with people not a group of dogs as I don't mix dogs that are not from the same famiily. They would not have access to the big yard all day. If people wanted them in a run and not out running in the yard, then that would be fine also. Personally I prefer to try and streamline charges, opening hours etc so there are less things not only for me to remember but also for customers. I really don't like the idea of charging for what I deem basic things like exercise and playtime. DOgs should get that as standard - unless of course their owner has specific requests that they don't or if they are recovering from surgery etc. My current fees are charged by the day. THanks again, lots more info for me to gather :)
  19. Thank you all very much for your feed back I am taking notes :)
  20. HOw bad can he be? Will he pin me to the fence to give me kisses? or wack me in the stomach with his sharp nails just cause he's playing and wants my attention??? hehehehehe
  21. I regularly have Husky's, no worries at all :) I also regularly have a Dingo that does not like to be handled and will bite you hard if you push her, we have an understanding and have no issues :) The runs and yards are geared towards escapologists.
  22. Spunds like a similar name and rules etc to an organisation that someone I know who breeds registered whippets, unrego'd purebreds and megabuck mongrels, belongs to. Have to be audited etc, and its okay to whelp bitches, in a shed, on a concrete floor with a thin layer of newspapaer down. Yep thats something I aspire too.........
  23. Well I want healthy dogs, but NO point having a really healthy Whippet if it looks like a Kelpie is there. Bunch of morons. The point is to breed HEALTHY dogs that ADHERE to BREED STANDARD - yup not hard is it.
