  1. Agreed! Love your posts though, Lots of enthusiasm, but I am certainly not proficient in text speak! Good to see you are getting it all sorted
  2. Investigating what exactly?? An idiot belted a dog and it gave a warning snap?? Should of bitten harder in my opinion!
  3. PF - I did look very briefly the other night, and decided to leave while my bank balance was still in the black! I could spoend a fortune on there. I buy some dried beef pizzles that are Woolies brand, they are 100% dried beef pizzle and made in australia. The dogs LOVE them. I am going back to that sight thought! Mine get a chew in the morning, when they have to go into the dog run if I am going out for a few hours or something. I use Happy Paws training treats for training and to have for recalls at the beach etc. Easy to carry around in your pocket. They also get raw bones as well.................they should be fat too!
  4. I would be thinking something similar. Having said that I would be very hesitant about keeping a dog that did that around me in the future.
  5. My Friend had a Dobe bitch that would attack (another animal not person) if they squealed or looked or sounded liked they were in pain. The moment she heard it she would fly straight in and attack. It did result in a couple of incidences of the unfortunate recipient requiring suturing up. She never did it to a human, but cat, dog, sheep otherwise was fair game!
  6. Gillybob, from memory, this may have something to do with a form of epilepsy .... Someone else is sure to provide more info I believe in the Cavalier air snapping or chasing imaginery flies has been linked to a form of epilepsy. I am not sure if the link is the same in all breeds?? I guess it would be though.
  7. Buy him a bellyband and have him inside while training him. At least then he won't be peeing on everything. Sounds like she has her work cut out for her
  8. It is usually considered a dangerous idea if the puppies are from the same litter as litter siblings can have some very serious disputes. Having two puppies at once can be more difficult for the reasons mentioned. They are also more likely to suffer from seperation anxiety when seperated if that have not been factored into your training regime.
  9. Wait until you have a fit lean Whippet! You get used to the skinny dog comments. They should have a waist a tuck up and you should be able to feel their ribs without to much pressure. They should also have good muscle definition and not have spines etc sticking out. If she has all of those things, then she is the correct weight. If you here the comment again, just answer she is perfect it's just that most Labs and Goldens are fat.
  10. Aww what a cute little puppy well not little at all really Lovely smooshy puppy cuddles
  11. Peacefrog, I was deeply saddened to read your post this morning. Please find some peace in the fact you have done everything you possibly could to help your little girl. These sorts of diseases can be very incidious and heartbreaking. RIP little Esmay run free over the rainbow bridge full of energy and vitality once more. You will missed greatly and mourned deeply. Hugs to all
  12. On a lighter note because, like i said earlier, this feel good thread seems to have diverted - but i agree Rommiandlewis - my Whippets would welcome a burglur/attacker with open arms and a face lick and see if they had treats in their pockets - before they would protect me!! Good job my husband is a big!! ;) I think Lewis and Rommi would beat them to their car for a ride! My hubby is big too, but he always says that he would be worried about him, I bite harder! Who knows, hope I never have to have any theories tried out! Sometimes I do miss that about not having my Dobe any more, but having a Whippet around means you don't have to worry about someone taking offence to your dogs guardy behaviour.
  13. I didn't think Dogs WA site was that bad at all??? Maybe I have no taste? However the CCCQ site has a totally non-professional look. It will be interesting to see what the new one is like.
  14. I am really praying that esmay starts stabilising soon. Such a roller coaster for you. It is really difficult to watch them fighting so very hard
  15. Someone once told me to wipe my dog over with a small amount of Gin. I guess you could use the left overs for medicinal purposes in case of ring nerves as well!
  16. My dogs get Optimum when they have dry food (they also gets lots of other goodies!) All of my dogs do very well on it, no difference between how they looked and their poops compared to Advance. I buy the 8 or 9kg bags when the supermarket has them on special, so also very economical. I would try Eagle Pack, Nutro and there are many other good premium dry foods, but they are not available where I am so I stick with what they like and do well on.
  17. Best way is to get the puppy scanned. If you find no chip, get puppy chipped and all the paperwork will be in your name. I hope you realise that no threads about puppies are allowed to be started unless you include photos!
  18. Well done on getting the urine sample - that is no mean feat! Why is it our female dogs are ususally the ones requiring a urine sample collection! The boys are usually more than willing! Hope you get an answer very soon.
  19. Good Girl Molly. Warms your heart doesn't it I had absolute faith that my Dobe (RIP) would have stood and defended. She was not unsocial or inept. She was a friendly, loving, well trained companion who showed more than one person the door. Infact she disliked one bloke at a friends house so much that even when she was put outside as she was letting out a low growl, that he went home because "that dog" was sitting on the other side of the glass door staring him out! Nice enough bloke, but had been taking drugs the previous night and she didn't like people who were drunks or under the influence of any other banned substances. I would not ever expect my Whippets do guard in any form, but hey who knows maybe one day they may step up to the plate.
  20. Remeber tests quite often rule things out as opposed to telling you what it is. So even though you don't know for sure what is going on, you know there are lots of things it isn't - which is a good thing!
  21. Any breed of dog can track. Some like to do it, others decided it's not really for them. I would try and find a new club.
  22. Did the vet mention possible diabeties? Is she drinking a lot? I really hope you get to the bottom of it quickly.
  23. Whippets are great dogs to have inside, no doggy smell not much coat. They do required a good run (when an adult) daily and lots of training regarding recalls, starting from the first day they come home. The do night handle extreme heat or cold so will need to be inside under aircon when hot and wearing a dog coat and inside when cold. They are non-aggressive as a general rule and I find them very easy to have around.
  24. Hi SoozyQ Your kids look lovely. I am a retired groomer, and I have to say my back loves me for it! Look after you back - get an adjustable table! Oh I used a Blackdog Treat pouch and my pockets.
  25. I think it would be very respectful. I cannot watch any of the tv programs relating to the fires as I still get too upset so I would think it is a great idea
