I did buy some to see what the go was and from memory it is made in China or somewhere over there. That is why I decided against it.

As far as I know it shouldn't harm him even though it is over dosing him. I would wash him with a good quality shampoo

Just Had To Post This..

that is a crack up, he was creating his own entertainment. WHat a classic I can't hear you look he got before bounding off all over the place. -
These are my dog runs, they are 4 X 5 metres. I am in the process of putting up a 2 metre chain mesh fence that will be partialy buried in blue metal coming off the front of the dog runs and will be grass and be around 4 X 8 metres. I have small mesh attatched around the bottom and rubber around the doors. I did find a very small baby brown snake in there (yes with the dogs ) the other day, but it was barely as thick as a pencil so would be difficult to keep those out unless the walls were solid I would think.

OMG, can her body survive the stress that it will have been under obviously for some time? I agree laws need to be toughened up big time. Hope Karma bites the back very very hard!

Travelling With Your Dog - Safety Question
OSoSwift replied to iggy mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think from memory small plastic crates I have seen have had the seatbelt around them and threaded through the handle. A solid wire crate attatched to the floor of say, a wagon, would be safer than a plastic one I would assume. -
Personally if the dog is not returned due to a health or medical problem, then no I don't think they should. I know some breeders offer half of the original purchase price and up, to encourage people to get in contact with them. I would no expect any money back, especially since the reason would be my problem, not one with the dog, and secondly they would need to feed and care for a probably adult dog until they could find another home.
-
I think when travelling a crate is one of the most important things that you can have for the safety and security of your dog. I NEVER tie my dog up at training or trialing. The one time I did she narrowly avoided being bitten when some idiot allowed their dog aggressive Lab to rush and attck her, luckily it hit the end of it's lead. I just do not trust others will do the right thing with their dog and by my dog. I had a swag, a tent, a crate, obviously leads, poop bags, food, water treats etc. etc required and clothes. Dog food, small camp oven and esky with bacon eggs bread and mushrooms along with coffee, sugar and long life milk, and a small frypan and saucepan. Generally we bought tea from a fast food place. Um a longer lead to toilet and exercise them on. Think that is it for now

Travelling With Your Dog - Safety Question
OSoSwift replied to iggy mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
A soft crate will offer no protection to your dog or yourself in the event of an accident. The need to be in a properly secure solid crate. A correctly fitting harness would offer better protection. There are harnesses that are for restraint in your car, but are not seat belts as such and could pull apart in the even of an accident. There is a topic somewhere that goes through wihich ones are proper seat belt harnesses. -
Any breeders I have personally had puppies off over the years would and have. There was a dog that ended up in our local pound of my breed and I helped trace it's tattoo. The owner was not interested at all so I took her on and found a knowledgable home for her. I believe ethically it is the right thing to do and any babies ever bred by me would be taken back in a heart beat. I appreciate not everyone can do that, but they should at least help find the dog a good home. A good breeder who will is worth their weight. At least if it all goes pear shaped for you, you know your babies will have a safe home.

Can I Have Some Opinions On This Please
OSoSwift replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
HAven't seen this before, but I think the Shpeherd was encourage, due to lack of leadership to see the Whippet pup as something to be jealous of. The owner needed to take charge and put some boudries in place instead of all the sill babby talk. I wouldn't allow an adult dog to be guarding a favourite toy from a puppy, it would be removed and I certainly would allow the larger dog to be barking/yipping at the puppy for laying under a table near it. If the puppy was annoying it fine, the dog would be allowed to disipline (within limits). Sadly due to a complete lack of understanding any dog body language, and not knowing how to be a good leader a dog has been sent away. It is the safest thing for the Whippet, but quite possibly could have been avoided. -
Interesting! Although i would think we would need to be more hairy to set off a reaction? Not that I know anything Did think that although some individuals of the human race can support a vast amount of body hair! We lose skin flakes or dander, I am guessing as we don't "groom" ourselves that the wouldn't be a chance of being allergic to saliva, but do she body hair. Intersting thought - well to me anyway!

We only had bitches, our dog didn't go off the farm initially. OUr two whoops matings occured once when the neighbours dog travelled over 10kms, and the second time when a dog came through (from 30 or so kms away) picking up our bitch and taking her about 15kms away. She had more seasons, no litters, then got pyo and was desexed. Some pups were rehomed locally, some were given to a petshop to sell for around $40 or so, can't remember as I was quite young. Our cat/cats were always having kittens. Many got homes, some just disappeared, Knocked on the head as they were born, some got shot later. They did get very out of control at one stage and Dad went on a cull and we were mortified to be left with only 8, but that is what happened we were not overly sad about it. We lived on a farm so roaming dogs, no fences cars etc were not an issue. If we had a dog that roamed they had two chances then were shot.

That would have been somthing that raised your blood pressure! I had something very similar happen. My bitch went back to her breeder (in another state) to be mated. She was mated, but very late in her cycle and when she was xrayed they said nope no babies. She was flown back, shown (with big boobs, but had always had full on phantoms). The day before he baby was born she was out of sorts and puffing on her walk more than usual, I was thinking maybe I should get her an U/s but decided that maybe she was having a 'worse' phantom due to being mated. I got up to get her up for her walk and heard some squeaking noises coming from her crate. There was one little puppy - my absolutely shocked response was what the hell is that! Poor Mummy! Baby was cleaned, dried and well fed. I walked into the bedroom and woke up hubby - he immediately asked me what was wrong as i had my "nearly trod on a tiger snake" face on! He said Cool! I was like cool, cool what is bloody cool about that! Anyway it all worked out okay and as I was working full time we had four people wrorking in shifts to make sure everything that need to be done was. I had heaps of soft toys in with my baby and socialised her with known "safe" dogs (ie vaccinated and good with babies) to try and help fill in the gaps she had from not having litter siblings. It was a full time job! You will get heaps of great advice, good luck with your baby and hope mum enjoys her new suprise role in life. It is great she has found a wonderful home just in time so her and her baby can be looked after in the correct way. Oh and start a thread a bout a puppy and the rules are you must put lots of pictures up! :D

I hope I never know! I would risk harm to myself, but not death, I have young children who need their mother. I would not stay and defend my property from fire, so would hope I had everyone bundled up and away well before then. I too think you will not know until it happens. I also know I would not pull my dog away from a snake. I have been in that situation and have roared to leave it and they have and we have all been okay. I would wade in to rescue my dog from a dog attack, have been there as well. I wouldn't swim out into the ocean as I would probably end up drowning - I am not a strong swimmer. Fire terrifies me so I am quite sure I would not go back into a burning building I hope none of us ever needs to know ....EVER

This is my husband that did not want dogs inside and definately not on the furniture. (excuse the washing that needed folding etc!)

Yes, I hope so Bowen is sounding quite positive so we will definitely give it a go. As for x-raying, Kei becomes very tense and frightened at the vets. He will simply not relax enough to not need a sedation. Having him stand for his examination today was a struggle enough, the poor boy just wanted to flatten himself to the ground and pretend it wasn't happening. The vet today could not say 100% that it was a rib, only that it was her gut feeling after examining him. The only way to tell for sure is to x-ray. Being that he is young I'm happy to try a few alternate therapies first and just keep an eye on it. If there are no changes then I can always have it x-rayed if and when he is desexed  Aww poor Kei - mine are usually trying to give the vet a good tounge bath! Sounds like a plan, I wouldn't be as worried in a younger dog. If he was older then yes. Maybe he is just an individual! I know Lewis definately is

My Stafford is allergic to horse hair and dander. He loved picking a soft spot on horse rugs and saddle blankets. I guess it is possible to be alergic to anything Which begs the questions - can dogs be allergic to humans? After all we are all mammals.
-
I would try bowen, chiro, then xray as well. If he didn't need sedation I would just xray. I have had 3 animals xrayed with no sedation as they were all relaxed and stayed really well when told. I have also recently had Bowen done on Lewis and whilst I love it for myself have never had it done on a dog. I was amazed at the huge difference in a short period of time. I have seen dogs and cats over time with some unusual rib bits that stick out to varying degrees. None of the ones I hvae seen have been a mojor issue. I remember one cat who's sternum had like a little curved bit that would sometimes stick out sometimes not. As Kei is a young dog I would not be as worried about the more sinister senarios. It is not unheard of for a young animal to have something nasty, but is certainly not very common. Chances are it is something that is special to him and not harmful

Bloody Drinkers And Their Bloody Glass Bottles

Poor Puck, I hope he gets better soon. Rommi and Lewis send lots of Whippity hugs and kisses. -
Yep that is what I was thinking, water puppy.

Agreed, the need to to clamp down on these sorts of people. They need to show everyone that they will not tolerate such appaling behaviour. I am so over human beings at the moment as it is . This just justifies once more why I am.

I am once again - 3 days in a row lost for words! Healthy dogs and puppies can be siezed and exposed to god knows what in the RSPCA shelters for having tails docked Dogs that are perfectly healthy can be seized and put in a shelter for being debarked Dogs can be seized because someone had an electric fence on the boundry fence, but are well looked after. All these people can be fined and loose a lot of money and their life will never be the same again. Dogs and puppies cannot be seized when they do not have enough water of food, are kept in horrendous conditions and do not even have enough space to sleep and eat. They have to live on excretment with no shelter and some have perished due to these conditions. How can that be okay? I am sorry but I just cannot see how anyone can look at this small number of things (and I know there are many more) and say that th RSPCA does not have a hidden agenda, or has just failed in a collosal fashion. How can anyone say this is okay........................................I am appalled and dumbfounded.
