From my post above Erny. If it was not for these things I would just do the yearly vacc every 3 years. My adult dogs come along to Puppy pre-school every week and play with any puppies that are a little full on and pushy, through their body language and gentle disipline they quickly have puppies displaying respect and interacting nicely. I cannot go to dog Club without a signed off vaccination certificate. My once a fortnight at dog training is the ONLY time I have away from my kids that is just for me. I won't give it up in a hurry!

Trust me if I had the ability to choose I would go to a vet that happily offered this service. I want the best for my dog, so weant to vaccinate less, makes it so hard when you have to fight every step of the way!

Yep I did a little while ago when I was very unwell, I had to virtually crawl to my bedroom as my head was absolutely splitting and I was on the verge of vomiting. They quietly went to be bed didn't make a peep. It wasn't until I woke up sometime during the night when the thumping had died down a bit that I remembered, I just gave them breakfast consisting of their dinner instead of the chew they normally get and they were fine. I am quite sure they would have been unhappy about it though.

Poll: Have You Ever Used The Report Button
OSoSwift replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nope not yet, but I am sure there will be a first time one day! Usually I just walk away from the post. The main person that annoyed me doesn't come on here now, even then I didn't have a need to report any posts - just made for lively discussion. -
Bones here, if they get a little bit of build up on their Canines or Molars I have a hand scaler and scrape it off. Very rare I need to do that though. Our 12 Yo Stafford has had one teeth clean and that is because he was having a tooth removal.

They are the only vet I have available to see, it is 400kms to the next one. They have seen the AVA statement - I asked them about and talked to them about it. THey still will not change their recommendations. I have asked them if they will just send reminders out for yearly check ups instead of vaccinations. They will send a reminder to me, but say that many dogs they see - ie farm dogs- the only time they see them is for their yearly vaccination and if they vacc'd them 3 yearly the farmers would not bring them in unless injured. Therefore they would not get their yearly check up and illnesses may not be picked uup. They know for someone like me who knows their own dogs well, I will pick something up and I will also take them for their yearly check, but believe most won't. It is very frustrating! Just trying to get the three year vacc is doing my head in quite frankly! That would be good but my vet will not sign off on a i year vacc for 3 years and if I don't have a yearly or triennel vacc I cannot go to dog training or take my adult dogs along when we have Puppy pre school. My vet will not sign off on a 1 year vacc for 3 years. I do not give Proheart anyway, so no drama there.

I totally agree, it all needs to be sorted out! At the moment it is all over the place. I just want some uniformaty

I would just like everyone (companies, vets ets) to get their act together, work together and agree! It would make it much less confusing for those of us that are the consumer. It just does my head in! If research say a 1 year vaccine works for three years, then label it as such. If they are not sure test it and then label it - I am just getting so annoyed at all the to-ing anf fro-ing. Aarrgghhh.

HOw awful! GIve your sister a very stern talking too, make her dogs stay outside and then tell them they are never to come back and bring their dogs again. How downright rude! I would give the carpet a good going over with Urine off (or something equivalent) then get it cleaned really well, then srpay it again in the aresa you know have been pee'd on , or even just all over general. Start afresh. Oh and I would be sending the cleaning bill to your sister. I just cannot beleive that she and your mother would think allowing their dogs to do that is acceptable. How soon till they go? Lay down ground rules NOW

I have had no problems so far - no big claims - and I have Petplan.

I thought that the vaccine was exactly the same, you just get it 3 yearly instead of annually?? There is a vaccine that is specifically labelled as a three year vaccine and it does have higher thingo's for Parvo at least. There was a thread on it - anyway that one is registered as a trienniel C3 vaccination. Some vets will give a normal vaccine and sign off for three years. Mine will not. I have had to organise 10 dogs that will get vaccinated with the Trienniel vacc wihin the next 12 months before they will do it. Bloody annoying, but these are the things we do I guess.

Didn't have a near miss, had the full collision, needless to say I am quite a bit wiser these days!

Thanks Fran, Why did I not see that - most be blinder than I thought! Lewis has a small white blaze and one testicle that has the back half with no pigment, so this will work well.

LOL RnL! Perhaps that's the key - I need a good drink before I go in Yep man that woman could mix a vodka and orange!!!!!! I didn't dare breathe on the judge!

WE HAVE I-SQUEAKS!!!!!!! Picture this........................... 2 Whippets - both of whom are ball and squeeky obsessed. Very helpful 2 and a half year old. VH2yo Gets the parcel from the parcel window for mummy and we walk back to the car. VH2yo gets strapped in still holding bag. He opens said parcel bag and pulls out I-Squeaks. Opens inner bag and pulls out one ball of each size. Said Whippets are very interested as they love balls. VH2yo slowly and deliberately squeezes medium I-Squeak. Whippets heads just about snap off and eyes are standing out on stalks. VH2yo had unwavering attention for the drive home. I-Squeaks are now safely in the dog cupboard as I am sure shift working, sleeping, husband would not be very happy if woken by a volley of I-squeakiness. We will go and play shortly. Lewis just about followed that postbag on his hind legs all the way to the dog cupboard.

Oh dear Faolmor that is terrible. I hope insurance covers it for him. My Brother and SIL got off lightly thankfully. Some people have had some horrible damage to their homes.

Large Straining Dog (march Update)
OSoSwift replied to spottychick's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
SO sorry to hear, you have put so much of yourself into this boy I imagine you are gutted. I really hope you find him someone that deserves him. But a big pat on the back for you, you have gone out of your way to help him. He is lucky to have you on his side. -
I remember having to go into the ring at the Darwin Royal for my last CD pass. I was soo nervous and my dog would look at me like I had grown two heads!!! Her breeder made me a "drink" before I went in to steady my nerves - we it nearly blew them away!! I think the last minute of her down stay I didn't breathe and they told me they could see my knees shaking from the other side of the ring! But she passed, got her title and Highest in Trial. So it can be done even with the worst ring nerves ever. I am shocking for it and never really improve! Go for it Huski if I can do it and not pass out you can! Send that entry in

Tiggy can you not get the 3 year vaccine? I am getting that from now on, but due to the vet hospital staying with advising yearly vaccination I have had to organise 10 dogs that will use it in the time it takes to expire. Luckily a few friends have multiple dogs. Also luckily they are my friends because it will end up costing more over the three years than an annual C5. I do find the whole thing very confusing, but as I do not vaccinate my kids every year and they now have a 3 year vaccine I will stick to that. I am not quite brave enough to have a booster at 14 months then nothing for the rest of their life.

My brother sent me some video of the storm and the hails stones were rather large! Lots of shrubbery blown around and there neighbour lost a fence. Hope everyone is okay

Our pound does not desex. Even has rehomed some dogs with questionable temperments. As an answer to the OP question - no I do not think it should be breeding. There are many lovely natured dogs out there that could probably say the same thing. You should be able to trace parentage and health of parents - and not just they are healthy blah blah, but that they have been tested for relevent things. Many dogs are healthy and lovely natured. Doesn't mean they should breed, and doesn't mean if they did they would produce like.

My friend has one, think long barrel shaped beer keg body, short stumpy legs, brindle with a wide and deep head but with a long snout. And considering the hybrid vigour he should have, he has a dodgy jaw requiring the removal of at least two of his canines due to them boring a hole into his upper hard palate (narrow and too short bottom jaw) He also has terrible skin, barks incessantly and dodgy little stumpy twisted legs - Yep a real treasure!

Yeah...I told someone in the house today: Me: There should a parcel coming for me pretty soon. OPerson: Ok Me: It'll be squeaky! OPerson: Uhuh *crickets* Yep, I get *crickets* a lot!!!!!!! See we must be wierd dog people. I just cannot wait to see their faces when it is a ball ....... and it squeaks - will be priceless I am sure

Both parents are purebred what? mongrels - idiots. Isn't selling a 3 week old puppy against the law or is that in the eastern states? If it is report them. Oh and I think you will need to edit out the number so as not to contravene forum rules
