  1. Agreed the second video deosn't look particularly friendly to me either. I really don't think PTS is going to be a solution, there are many many steps that can be done/tried before you get to that. You have recognised and issue, are going to keep them separate and are addressing their issues. Be kind to yoruself. Whilst her attack is serious and distressing I have also seen far worse. Just breathe and the week will be over in no time
  2. Yep Lucy is attacking poor Bon who is trying to dissappear into the lounge! Its quite full on as well, I think if there wasn't that much coat involved it would be far more disasterous. I agree with Huski, revoke all privlidges. They are earnt not to be taken for granted. I will be interested to see how it all goes. I also wouldn't tolerate that at all, Poor Bon is living on the edge all the time, and yes crate is a very good idea until you get it sorted. My way of dealing with it probably wouldn't be too popular, but agggressor would be unceramoniously dumped on the floor, then kicked off all furniture and if that wasn't adhered to, crated or removed from the room. All privlidges would be revoked immediately. They would have to work for everything, food, attention, everything, until their attitude was adjusted. So far that seems to have worked for my dogs over the years. Apart from my Dobe bitches, they had to be seperated a lot of the time, but cold be togetehr if I was there but I didn't let my guard down with either of them or they would launch a stealth attack. One night my Whippet bitch launched at my male after he had hopped off the lounge for a drink and then went to get back on. I grabbed her in midair, put her on the floor and sent her to her bed. She was not allowed off unless asked to and spend 4 nights on her bed on the floor whilst he could get up on the lounge with me. I have had to do it a couple of times but not for quite some time.
  3. I don't necessarily play full on games inside. I will push the lounges back and do heel work ( its only a couple of steps across in both directions), perch work and positions etc while inside. The other dogs have to wait on their bed. It can be amazing just how precise you can get with exactly where you want a sit, down or stand when in a tiny space. That sort of thing wears them out.
  4. I have had entire girls and boys and their brains do get a little foggy from time to time, but the rules were I was the only one that let them in/out so there were no accidents. I have a 2 metre high fenced dog yard with small mesh, so the bitch was in there when they boys were out running around and visa versa. I found leaving one inside far too hard as they would inevitably slip past someone. Crating side by side and in runs side by side (with very small mesh) also worked very well as removing them completely sent them all into a spin.
  5. I live on acerage so it is easier to exercise my dogs. I have whippets so raining outside means I get given the paw. I also like my dogs not to rely on a walk every morning regardless. Our exercise happens when it fits into the day, sometimes morning, sometimes evening, sometimes the next day.
  6. Clever hubby, nice and safe - and no wet muddy dogs inside the ute :)
  7. It is my right to ask anyone not to invade my personal space at any time I am out in public. Just because I have my dog doesn't not mean all of a sudden we are public property. If people ask to pat my dogs I do say yes unless I have very good reason not to and thank them very much for askng. My dogs don't really care much for people. I have a breed I am VERY protective of, they are very easily damaged. I also have a bit that will bite and put holes in other dogs and if she does it to the wrong one could end up dead or severely injured. I ask politely - once. Then I will tell the person and potentially not very politely!!! My dogs my rules, simple!
  8. Oh and if you accidentally touch their testicled or penile sheath it's just skin! No biggy there.
  9. In my previous breed it was girls only as me and the males just didn't work ( I like Velcro dogs ) In a Whippets I would choose a boy over a girl for what I want one for. My boys LOVE to try their hardest to do as I ask and will work their socks off. I have two entire males who are best buds. I love my bitch but she is more independant she will still try very hard to work her best for me but needs more of a good reason to do so. She is also a bitch. She has and will put holes in the boys, she is the fun police and will stop the boys playing if they are in the yard together. If dogs get in her face she nails them which means holes and blood and potential a dog that will turn on her. She territory marks as much as the boys if not more. The boys have never cocked their leg in the house - she has!
  10. Yes IBD & IBS are different. It took 6 months and many various things to find out what he can and cannot tolerate, many trips to the vets many times of having a very unwell cat with a VERY sore tummy, many nights of being woken up gagging as he had used the litter tray two rooms away. I gave up counting how many times I had to wash him, the floor and my bedding as he had gone to the toilet. Ernie has a very long and very informative thread on her regarding Mandela and their journey. Maybe see if Ernie can point you in the right direction and you can send your friend the link?
  11. Agree with Ernie, figure what is causing the gut to chuck a wobbly then you can control it. I have a cat who when we got him - he was on crap supermarket food - had shocking bowel movements and IBS. He is a sensitive soul and we got them at the age of two. The extra stress resulted in foul watery bowl movements with lots of bright red blood and OMG the stench!!!!!! He was very unwell. I went through the process of trying different food and when I suddenly found one he did well on the change was unmistakeable! His little rounded tummy disappeared over night, the flatulence stopped and the bowel movements become firm, far less smelly and a max of twice a day. Since then we have had no blood in poop and rarely even have runny tummies or stinky gas - its usually only if they thieve something the shouldn't have!
  12. OsoSwift, chat with Allpet as we have 20kg Breeder Packs coming out in a couple of weeks! They will be under $100 for the industry... Thank you :)
  13. I know of dogs that have done it, all appeared to have good diets, no pain or irritation they just nibbled on the end of the nails.
  14. Lots of great advice already. I second or 5th????? A well fenced house paddock and also dog runs, dig proof floor and fully enclosed with snake mesh ( I have shared photos before and will again if you looking ideas) I have had Dobermanns, Staffords and now Whippets and Border Collies on the farm with no issues with livestock. My dog yard has a 2 metre high chain mesh yard attached to the dog runs. We do have good fences around the house but the house yard isn't fully enclosed so my dogs are never outside the house or their yard if I am not there. We do however have "city" neighbours now who believe their dog amuses itself sufficiently on their land and they don't need to have dog proof fences or actually put any time or effort into the dog. Not so long ago their young dog was found in our paddock consuming a freshly killed lamb. That is not fair on anyone or any animal. As for the ticks I have no idea
  15. My whippet - now 6.5 - had TPLO surgery for a damaged cruciate from a collision with our other Whippet. We tried crating etc etc but eventually it got to a point it had to be done. She is the smallest dog they have ever done a TPLO on. It was a hard road after surgery as she is a complete woose. However in time she got around an 90% return to function but was not at a level where I was happy to train her in obedience agility etc. I started getting Bowen done on her regularly, put her on K9 naturals super fuel and bought a fit paws peanut and started physio. It has taken time but this weekend she is sound, fit and heading back I to the dog sport rings. As they are a fairly light dog and at 10 generally reasonably fit and healthy I see no reason why, in time, he cannot be back having a run around the park! Mine is also on Cartophen and RHVC
  16. If they want to fly under the Radar they shouldnt put their breeder number etc on the add
  17. It's PETA. Enough said. Oh I know they are more than capable but to the average person it does sound far too bizzare to be true.
  18. Yep it is something that caused discrussion - and vigourous at that - on a friends FB page recently
  19. attapulgite cat litter or newspaper based cat litter, then put somthing firm over the top with some weight to pull as much as you can, then shampoo, porbably multiple times!
