I totally get where you are coming from. Lewis is a total sook, mummies boy, girls blouse! OH sometimes gets upset when he is giving cuddles and having a great time, then I sit down and Lewis blows him off. Rommi is usually happy to have cuddles with either of us, but just lately she blows OH off as well. Whippets are so good at that blow off look too! I told OH to toughen up! If it was the other way around I would be sad though.

Do You Do Heartworm Tests Before Using Meds?
OSoSwift replied to sandgrubber's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We have heaps of mozzies all year round. Some of the mozzies are not the ones that carry heart worm (they must be the Ross River/Bahma river Virus carrying ones!) but there have been dogs born and bred around here that have contracted it, not many but enough for me. -

Oh Vadars mum, Kenobi is just gorgeous! I am not suprised that any work has gone out the window, who would want to work when you have Kenobi as a distraction! I am so happy for you that you have your little baby to love. Oh and photos anytime the mood takes you

I tried this with our three. Rommi- wacked towel and bowl until it turned upside down, then stuck her nose in until she inhaled the food. Aorund 8 seconds. Lewis- Looked hard, sniffed lots, got snet back numerous times and ended up sitting infront of me looking rather pathetic. I ended up feeling sorry for hima nd took the teatowel off. Brutus - ran over that fast he nearly fell over, sniffed and tried to eat the food through the towel! Run backwards and forwards between food and myself Staffy scream/chortling at the top of his lungs. Ended up sitting in front of me and going off so I gave up and took the towel off. Conclusion - Rommi is a pig! Lewis is a bit prissy and has too many manners to barge in to get the food. Brutus is not the sharpest tool in the shed! We decided if this was any indication, they would need to stick with Rommi if stranded in the wild as the two boys would perish by themselves! ALthough the pig might eat all the food first!

I am shocked to open this and read it. My thought are with her family at this devastating time. I really don't know what else to say. RIP, you are right Poodlefan, I only knew her through this forum but she did seem good people to me too. -
My dogs spin both ways on command and they have never tried to chase their own tail, but that may also be because they just are not that way inclined???
-
They always get something with their dry, so it would be say 3/4 of a cup of dry then a tin of sardines, or half a cup of mince etc. There food changes almost daily depending on what they have done exercise wise and if it is winter/summer.
-
Yes do not Google, you will read all sorts and panic yourself! So sorry to hear your young strapping dog is so unwell. The hardest part is not knowing, but they are working on that bit so baby steps, take each minute, each day and each test as it comes. All our fingers and paws crossed it is not serious and she is better very soon.
-
MIne get mince/sardines,yoghurt etc and dry in one meal, they usually get their bones in the morning.

I have seen an SBT have his tail amputated due to extreme self mutilation then he was euthanased after training and medication made no difference. The owners tried everything and he was that OCD he just couldn't stop. Makes it very hard for a dog to so much as eat when they are asbad as him. I never allow chasing of tails just incase it develops into something further.

That does sound rather yummy!

Dr. Chris Brown On 7pm Project Tuesday Night...

Does someone have an email or facebook page or something we can leave the good comments on??????? -
I have used stuff from Woolies for people for my brown Dobe, but now I use Plush Puppy Sunscreen and Plush Puppy Reviva coat. You can get it from Pet network (in the list of banner advertisers at the top of the page)

Don't know what the color has to do with it but anyways, it's cream & reddish brown, sheep dog. Browns are more prone to a dry coat and sun bleaching. I would think if you increase his oils and maybe change him to a better quality food (depending of course what he is on) and put some leave in moisturiser in his coat, ideally with a sunscrean his coat will be fine in no time. I babysat a brown and tan Kelpie who was 18. His coat was dry and split and very pale. 3 weeks of reviva coat and fish oil and it improved quite a bit.

What colour and breed is said friend?
-
Looks like he has been told not to do something he wants to.. looks very much like the looks I get from my kids at times!
-
The ones I knew of were not what I would class as the best looking Flatcoats but that was the least of their problems. Can I tell you the gories - No I would be breaching client confidentiality. Needless to say I would be looking elsewhere and I would give myself a good 12 months in which to source a puppy.
-
I buy mine from Woolies or the chemist - whoever has them cheapest. If he has any sort of heart condition Co-enzyme Q10 is also a goodie. Any leave in conditioner/sunscreen will make his coat better. Or Plush puppy reviva coat which I just love ;)

My dogs get Fish oil and Evening Primrose oil every day. The very old boy has a drier looking coat, but it is a lot better than it was. Give the tablets at 1000mg per 10kg. If they have arthritis or heart issues you can double it.
