  1. That is revolting. She would have been told to take her hands off my dog! I think she is tipping the pup over the fron tof the table in some sort of attempt to get it to stand back from the edge??? maybe trying to tip it off to get it scared enough to stand still??? Beastly woman. Not sure?? all she did was terrify the poor thing. In credit to the dogs temperment it actually went very well until it had to go back to her which is not suprising at all. I wonder if it ever would stand on the table again without freaking out?? I hope she gets suspended for life
  2. I have the cool coats and find they work very well for the purpose I bought them for which is keeping them cool when crated at training etc and while training/ competeing in obedience/agility. If it is hot and dry they do have to be soaked reasonably regularly but I have happy cool dogs that are not panting and happy to work. My male in particular has a low tolerance for heat. I have not used the mats.
  3. I would love to see that but I dont have Foxtel Me neither, these are the only times I wish I did!
  4. Many things as previously mentioned Big ones for me are Treats that are Australian made and prouduct of Australia, no imported crap and no died crap. Good quality toys Goode quality shampoos, brushes, grooming gear, crates etc. Rescue organisations /shelters info displayed and no live animals Good quality dry food
  5. I was told the dose was 1000mg per 10kg bodyweight which can be doubled if used in a dog with arthritis. So 8 capsules a day for an 80kg dog would be the 1000mg/10kg bodyweight dose if using the 1000mg tablets and not the 1500mg. .
  6. I think as a general rule it is best to email. They do come into the thread but not every day. I have received my sample and the dogs both cleaned up their dinner for the first time in ages. Normally Lewis in particular eats half then won't eat the other half unless you put him into the dog run with it...go figure????? Pleased to say as soon as I opened the sample I was accosted by Lewis and Rommi was VERY interested. The sample amount is a very generous amount as well so it will give a good indication as to if the dogs like it or not. It is looking good to me, especially the no wheat as the Stafford does not do well on wheat and it is hard to find a food that he can eat the protein source and have no wheat.
  7. My dog has heart disease and spinal and other joint arthritis. He is on prednisolone due to spinal cord compression so cannot have any other NSAID, which didn't work when we tried them before the Pred anyway. He has tramal as required but since giving him fish oil among other things he does not need the tramal.
  8. My old dog is on Vit E along with his fish oil and has been so from the beginning as I was aware of the need for vit E, but you are right it is something we should be reminded of and take care to get the balance right
  9. I guess he wouldn't appreciate my Whippet that flies past your head like the Concord , over the kitchen table, where you are seated. Clears the back of the lounge, sticks the landing and looks at you as if to say " WHAT?" As long as nothing was destroyed in the process, it would be ok Not sure about the hubby I wouldn't tolerate that one!
  10. Dont use shotguns you need something pretty big for a cow and a shot gun wouldn't cut it. When we have had to put down cows we use a 243, sheep we use a .22 rifle. I get a butcher to shoot ours so that I know it is done correctly, or my BIL or FIL who are all very experienced in using firearms and shooting livestock. I don't use them myself.
  11. Regardless of what the dogs are properted to cost it is a scummy act and I hope those poor dogsa re found and returned safe and well very very soon. Poor dogs and poor owners.
  12. Give me trialling over speaking infront of a large group of people any day!! Having an attack of the vapours just thinking about public speaking!
  13. My OH was brought up that dogs are dirty dogs live outside. I was brought up with a dog sleweping on the bed, but the odd occasion she found somethign dead to role in she got kicked outside! When we first started living together we were in a rental that onlya llowed dogs outside, so our dog was outside, but as a puppy the laundry was set up for her to be inside until she got older. When I had the Dobes they came in under the aircon if it was very hot, or sometimes when I was home alone. OH knew about thise but chose to ignore with what I don't see won't hurt me. They had purpose built kenels that were very warm and comfortable and wore coats and had hot water bottles. Then the WHippets came along - I don't mine them in the house if they stay on their bed/in the crate. They can sit on the lounge but only if they are on someones lap. Okay they can sit on the lounge whenever they feel like it (after I caught him and Rommi having an afternoon nap on the lounge) Now the Whippets are in most of the time, they generally sleep on their bed but after kids are in bed they hog all lounges and lap, not sure why that is by their own choice. They sleep on heated beds in the laundry in winter and in dog runs in summer because they are cooler. They have coats, heat pads and goodness know what else. OH loves the Whippets and rarely if ever complains about them being in all the time and I think he came to the conclusion a long time ago that he was fighting a loosing battle. They do not sleep in the bed and I do put them in the dog run when I am out. I don't like them in the kitcehn when I am preparing food, and they are not allowed near the table or to beg when we are eatin. If they did they would be kicked outside, but they sleep through meal times anyway. In respect to my other half I make sure they are clean and not smelly which rarely happens with a Whippet anyway, I do not let them on the bed and they are not allowed to run around in the house or do zoomies inside - which I wouldn't liek anyway.
  14. That can't be much fun Jules, especially if it gets your blood pressure up. I would ask a pharmascist if there is anything to help, if not maybe a doc visit so you can have something that doesn't affect your otehr medication. Dogs are supposed to be good for you but it sounds like trialling might be a bit hazardous to our health!!!! I get nervous as well - I am not entirely sure we are meant to literally drink bottles of rescue remedy!
  15. Not a year already surely!!! Happy one year anniversary and I am so happy for you that you found the girl you deserved. It is not hard to tell she is truely loved Big hugs to all
  16. Jeez those photos are very scary. I think I would be outta there if they were that close to me. Hope all are okay today and the fires are put out. Masons trophy is lovely you have every right to be very proud of yourself and your boy. LOvely photo as welll. Baby Kyzer is very cute
  17. I generally use the I-Clicks as well. YOu can also use them under your foot etc if required.
  18. I just saw the fire on the news, looks very scary hope all are okay. You stay safe Kendall
  19. Feels like it at the K9 sometimes, though!! Also given the fact I have a particular dislike for the cold and the Whippets think they will shrink and turn into Iggies, winter is a bit ho hum! In the heat I train a bit less as well, but do do some work in the house under the aircon, same as in winter.
  20. Our dog started going out the farm with the OH again. He had stopped taking him because he had a registered bike and was riding that to save money so we used to have him home, take him in the car, then he would stay a night at Nanna'a, then bring him home in the etc. so the car got used half the time Once it was winter the car was used then the bike got sold.
  21. IF the dog is in enough pain to be restless then IMO they do need to see a vet to get checked. If they are in a small amount of pain but can happily rest when kept quiet then they don't need anything. I would always ring the vets advice before giving any sort of pain killer that is not prescribed for your dog. I have Rimadyl here from a previous injury as I never give them X amount of tablets until they are all finished. Rommi hurt her leg and on vet advice I started her on them again, within 24 hours she was very doughy and started vomiting yellow bile once sometimes twice a day. So even stuff prescribed can have adverse effects, so be very careful I would not be risking long term consequences for a consult fee.
  22. I would think Erny - just looking at my mental pictures of Goldens in my head- that normally their lips would never look like they were smiling and would normally look a little looser so that would lead me to think it may be more the fact the tighter looking side is actually the one that is the affected side??????? MAy be wrong though?? What is the ear doing on that side??? I know of a lady down here who ended up with Bells Palsey after an attack of shingles, it toolk quite a few months but she is back to normal now.
  23. Definately let them know, we had no idea our then young Stafford was howling and whinging when we were not at home because he didn't make a sound when we were.
  24. Maybe not quite as full on, but I train as if I am trialling and keep working through the exercises up to open level with some at the moment. I do it in the hope that I will trial again one day and also because I enjoy it, it's my time out. I do get slack normally over winter though.
  25. I would suspect that that is very very rarely ever carried out in todays times.l
