  1. Report the attack to the rangers, take your dog to the vet and get a report, a copy of which goes to the neighbours. No you shouldn't have to tiptoe around, people should be responsible and it is really upsetting and frustrating when they are not and innocent people and dogs are traumatised ot injured. Report it and don't let it drop. The very least your neighbours could do is apologise and I think that dog sounds like a very good candidate for euthansia, especially if he stays there.
  2. I am going to get a harness for our gopro and will be getting a cheap one from ebay :)
  3. There seems to be lots of stuff on Etsy as well from what I can see.
  4. MIght have to get some fo that stuff, sounds good. I LOVE squeezing things, even large oozy things :)
  5. Yep to be on the associate register they have to be desexed. I would leave it until he is then trial after that. I never rush mine in these days either :)
  6. You are also right about Govy rules and regs being introduced often they are not practical or workable and the people creating them have little to no idea or are lead by those with an agenda.
  7. Oh I hear what you are saying but the info I got handed from our shire when putting in a kennel application was 1.5 A4 pages, thats it. And yes I agree with you.
  8. The Vic CP for boarding is the strictest one I could find. Want a joke of CP for boarding establishments look at WA's
  9. I wouldn't treat her after an overnight toilet trip. Just keep it quiet, don't look at her, keep it dark etc, you don't want to stimulate her or condition her to expect a treat, when you want her to go back to sleep. Good luck, she sounds adorable - some pups are more challenging than others! I agree with what Clyde has said here. The other thing I would like to add to the various suggestions given to you is that you actually get up to the pup BEFORE the whinging/barking for toilet commences. For example, if you know it's 4am that she needs the toilet by, aim to get up 15 minutes to half an hour before that (pain in the butt as that might be, but hopefully only for the short term). Take her outside, do the usual toileting administrations, pop her back to her comfortable crate and go back to bed yourself, until 15 minutes to half an hour before the next toilet stop time that you're aware of. Working this way, you're not teaching your pup that it's her barking that gets her your attentions. Quite the contrary, you're teaching her that being quiet gets her your attentions. Yes yes and yes - I agree with this as well.
  10. Vic has the strongest codes of practice of all states/territories of Austalia - well when I last looked.
  11. Before you pay annually do you see any changes to the policy ? I have always recieved a hard copy of my poilcy and any exclusions, I pay yearly though not monthly
  12. Personally if I was evacuating dogs and that required them to not be in open crates on not on an open trailer I wouldn't care, they would be safely removed, I would deal with any fines later.
  13. Not all owners have someone who is here who can be an emergency contact /pick up. If I had the ability to send any of the animals in my boarding facility either home or to the owners choice of carer - hell yes it would be yes please and thank you. The least amount of animals I have to evacuate or defend the better. If that was said I do not understand the reasoning for that. If my area is under fire danger I want them out of there if at all possible.
  14. Frustration is not my best emotion to deal with especially when people have no idea. And seem to refuse to hear what you are saying, until you get rude.
  15. typical immature response when people can't articulate their argument/point of view, they lash out instead. I tried you are not listening If this whole situation wasn't such a tragedy, this would have me . You are casting this aspersion at labadore simply because she disagrees with your position. She could just as well say the same about you. And you are the one posting insulting remarks and calling people names ..... simply because they don't agree with you. Ah nope. Lab adore was the one saying kennels do not have adequate evacuation/fire plans and that they are more worried about saving themselves than their boarders. Labadore is wrong.
  16. No advance won't fit in treat dispensing toys. I use some black hawk if I want to do that
  17. typical immature response when people can't articulate their argument/point of view, they lash out instead. I tried you are not listening
  18. So what was the purpose of the post below? as the way I read it is that kennels do not have large dog trailers as they can't afford it, hence the request for donations I will be rectifying this and embarking on a crusade to fully educate myself on all things regarding "boarding kennels" and will probably use social media to educate Pet Owners on boarding kennels and if required, agitate for change to better protect our Pets in boarding kennels. I was being a smart arse. Good for you. Luckily that is exactly what lots of boarding kennel owners have already done. I for one take my job extremely seriously. I know I am not alone.
  19. It is extremely offensive that you think that a vast majority of kennels have nothing in place and don't seem to care. You have no idea at all
  20. forget it no point arguing with uneducated dickheads
  21. My dog has been stitched up twice from wounds caused by another dog and her knee surgery was as a result of a high speed collision with my other dog. Paid out no issue.
  22. I can give you the exact wording of mine but essentially it says I will do everything possible to keep a dog safe but if a dog does or is injured I cannot be held responsible
  23. Release forms do have to be written up by a lawyer with all their guff in place to stand up in court. In most corcumstances I believe they would stand up in court. I guess in this instance whether theirs will or not would depend on how they are written and if it is proven they were negligent. Kennels have waivers to guard against people trying to take action against them when the kennel has done everything they could have in a situation and a pet has ended up unwell or died and their owners are jerks. ETA - I haven't ever had anyone take me to court, but yes I have had some dogs in my care become extremely unwell and one has had to be euthed. I currently have a dog boarding who has a shocking anaphylactic bee allergy. Last time she got stung, despite her getting given an antihistamine she collapsed in 30 minutes and was in imminent danger of dying. I cannot be in the kennels watching her every second like her owner can. I will and do do everything in my power to make sure she is kept safe. However I do occasionally have appointments etc and do have to leave the kennels. If she was to get sting while I was not there she may well die. We have discussed this fully and how we are going to manage her to the best of our ability. If she does then get stung and die I do not believe I have done anything wrong and have provided her with the best care I can. Others may feel differently.
