Definately second teaching tricks, you will both have a great time and she will get very tired out from thinking so hard. I have to say at this moment I am EXTREMELY proud of my old Boy Brutus. I heard him barking and I thought I have never heard him bark like that so went to investigate. HE was standing staring at the down pipe. I looked, could see much and went to walk away. He stared at it againa nd barked so I knew there was somehting going on. I moved my angle of looking and saw a dugite curled up behind the pooper scooper and the down pipe, and wrapped around the bottom of the snake pipe! The most interesting part of this was that Brutus has never and I mean NEVER in his 14 and a half years EVER barked at a snake. He has always just removed himself to a safer area. He rarely barks full stop. Now I am concerned he has been bitten as he was very close to it's tail. It wasn't razzed up and when I moved the pooper scooper it stayed there so I am hoping he hasn't been bitten, but he is right next to me so I can watch him. He has too many health issues to treat him so if he has been bitten we will be making the decision to euthanase him and that is why I am watching him at home. I cannot find any blood spots or swelling (he has an almost non- existant coat) so I am hopefull. Brutus is a bloody legend. I would never have seen the snake if he hadn't of barked and it was right near where the kids play and right near the edge of the door into the garage. Brutus rocks!

Good on you, hope it all comes together and your apology is gracefully accepted. -
What Do You Think Of This Rspca Ad?
OSoSwift replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I did think that myself. They are targeting purebreds in general and have been known to point out Braccy breeds in particular, but then use a Pug?? bit two faced. And then to use an Afghan which incidentally I saw and thought it was a bit rich. Why not use one of the dogs you will find there not an impeccably groomed long coated one. -
This link, of a breeder in Canada confirms the whole aussie to aussie breeding to get a smaller dog. http://members.shaw.ca/hitide/ Theirs may be smaller due to breeding smaller dogs together but the picture of the other one further back looks nothing like those ones or normal ones. Don't understand the need to get something then try and shrink it . Just buy a smaller normal one?????Don't mess with what isn't broken

RIP poor kitty

I'd love to, but unfortunately just a teeny bit far to go. Okay, you have to post pictures of your Agility setup so that we can all drool over it and be jealous. Well maybe not all of us, I see someone with lots of red dogs has a nice looking home setup too. Will do It's old gear but it works, so I hope we can get the dogs going well. Now just to work on the handler

There are vaccines that they can have the last one at either 10 or 12 weeks depending on brand. The intranasal Bordatell lasts for 12 months. If you are worried ring your vet and check but to me he sounds up to date, not having actually seen the card!

Australia's Got Talent Want Me!
OSoSwift replied to whatevah's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I would steer clear as well. -
I have just picked up our dog walk and seesaw. So now have pretty much all the equipment to train properly, except for a tyre jump at this stage. How cool is that. Getting stuck into training now, anyone want to go agility training at my house

Boarding Kennels, Anyone Recommend One?
OSoSwift replied to moonbaby's topic in General Dog Discussion
I boarded a three legged whippet last year that the owners chose home care for the year before. I innocently asked what had happened to her hind leg. They answered that she had home care the Xmas before, while they were away, they suspect she was frightened by fireworks and jumped the side fence, something she had never done before. The fence was a bamboo fence and she caught her hind leg in the wire that holds it together. By some odd luck the owners came home early from the vacation and noticed her food bowl was still full, went searching for her and there she was, almost dead, hanging by a hind leg, thank-god she survived. Dogs need more than a couple of visits a day, you never know what can happen, at least at a kennel they are safe. OMG that story is horrifying. -
If that is a mini Aussie, then my Whippets are mini Great Danes. It looks nothing like an Aussie

Well done.

Now I have no excuse to not have brilliant doggies :D well only as brilliant as there challenged handler can get them, but we try hard -
Boarding Kennels, Anyone Recommend One?
OSoSwift replied to moonbaby's topic in General Dog Discussion
Um No........ I would only put my dog in a kennel where they WERE NOT run with other unknown dogs. There is no way I would put my dog in a kennel where they ran them with others and I most certainly would not put them in a strangers house with unknown dogs that may have territorial issues. There are plenty on kennels that will not mix dogs that are safe, have lots of human contact and play and are recommended. I agree with times or appointments for looking through I know how annoying it was trying to groom animals when people kept interrupting because "they just needed a quick word"! Not only that it is hard to get and maintain a good routine for the dogs - with VERY important quiet time included- when people just drop in willy nilly. -
NRM is always a try again for mine as well.

A Good Diet For 6 Week Puppies
OSoSwift replied to blondeborder's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
And this is why I want to get my puppies at 8 weeks. That way I can ensure they are exposed to all the things I want them to be in a controlled manner. I do not want to get my puppy at 10 or 12 weeks and have a puppy that is close to the end of that vital period and has only been at the breeders place and not really been out much at all. MAkes life a lot harder than if I have the puppy myself and get it the critical exposure it needs. -
I'm sure this is the case in Victoria Yep same here. although I think that in WA you can still sell puppies without papers, as in the litter has to be registered, but you can sell them to their new owners without. Bloody silly in my opinion. Having Limited register and main there is no need to sell a dog without papers.

Mine wear these and also the jammies with the legs in underneath if it is very freezing. They also have a heated bed in the laundry and a snugglesafe disk for when they are out in their dogsruns if I go out during the day. The crates in the dogs runs have 4 inch foam matresses with around 8 polarfleece blankets and a cover.

I know bone marrow suppression is the main worry. Found this online. SOunds like what I remember - honestly can't think off the top of my head what a dog with bone marrow suppression would look like but I guess they would be lethargic and probably off their food. I know it was something I was told to look out for and had to have period checks on her (can't remember the intervals - she has been gone for a while now). Oh love the tail wagging exercises. My friends Dobe wagged her tail on cammand. She taught her as she didn't really like being shown so she taught her to stand with her feet in the appropriate areas, then to drop her nose down a little then to wag her tail. Worked well
-
Hmm my Dobe bitch came up lame in her left front leg on two seperate occassions then started not wanting to jump going in a certain direction. I rested her and was about to start training her again when I went to let her out to the toilet one morning and her back end didn't work. She got xrayed and had spondylosis affecting 5 verterbrae. After treatment and changes to exercise and no jumping she did very well and ended up dieing from something unrelated at 8 and a half. I hope it is something simple and easily fixed
-
Agreed.

I believe that every live pup should be registered. Report them and hoepfully they get kicked out of the CAnine control of the state they are in - disgusting behaviour.
