I would be annoyed, yes at the injury but more at the fact no-one seemed to have an idea or care. I would expect some info about it at pick up and what was done at the very least. I would be photographing and asking for a please explain.

Rommi 3.5 yo Whippet 42bpm Lewis 2yo Whippet 38bpm (at the moment as he is rather fit normally around 40). This is when they are laying on the lounge next to me so very resting! Vets comment all the time how their heart rates are so low and ask are they fit. After 6kms next to the bike Lewis's HR is around 78bpm
-
Ours definately got more pigment as he got older, and a friend with a White and Brindle pied got pigment spots until he was around 3. He had heaps more than when he was 12 months old. Same as Whippets I guess 'cause Lewis has heaps more pigment spots that when I got him. If the skin looks normal as in not raised, scaley etc I would just be thinking more pigment.

I still would. You have to return to the dog behind them after stays, SFE, COP. But like with the finish, I'd start teaching the return as a separate exercise to anything. I get what you mean, but what I meant was is it necessary for me to train her to stay while I walk around her when she has recalled like they do in obedience classes? She knows to stay while I walk around for stays, sfe and cop but if it's not a requirement for me to walk around her after she has recalled then I am not going to add something that is unnecessary. I did try it once but she was clearly confused and wondering where I was going so got up to follow me as I am apparantly not meant to move when she comes to me regardless of what I tell her :D Bloody Tollers and their ideas of what is wanted :p I don't do it and I was VERY glad when they dropped it from CCD as I thought it was harder than a finish and a bit silly. Mine do the return after a stay fine as well, but the return after the recall just unsettled them.

The ET trial is on the 16 or 18 can't remember off the top of my heade and I did see a trial close to that date as well, so will enter that if I can. There is also a show but I think I might be pushing it with the family if I do that as well!

I will make sure I say Hi - its sure is a long way to come. Any reason why you aren't coming too?? Cows calving, kids and husbands work, distance and budget :p I am planning on coming in the middle of June for an ET and hopefully a trial as well.

I was certainly NOT trolling thank you, however I will bow out of this thread.

There is a little Esperance Stafford going up for Midland and Gosnells, so say hi to her (LIzzie) and Tania as she will know no-one

My dogs are registered with ANKC and the two video dogs are also registered in the The Kennel Club in the UK. So not sure what you are talking about. Sorry if you do not enjoy seeing border collies do what they are suppose to do, work sheep and work sheep in ISDS trials which is the standard of work and the founding registry for the breed. The particular person was talking about a "show" tri which is why I saw your particular post as pointless. You like to dig about the ANKC registery so no I am not stupid. How lovely your dogs are also ANKC registered. But as we all know that it isn't hard to get an ANKC registered dog, the quality is another matter. Did I say anything about not liking to see Border Collies doing what they were bred to do? No personally I like to see them working sheep on a farm over trials set up in an artifical situation but I realise not everryone can work their dogs on farm so trials are the next best thing. What exactly what I like to see a Border Collie do, or exactly what registery they would be registered on and what I would like to do with them, well you would have no idea and you would also have no idea about my background, so you can assume away but I can pretty much guarentee you'd be off the mark.

Fact is the two sides will never agree.

It would depend on how badly I disagreed with the organisation or product. The were would be a couple I would not do, but others well if people believe all the hype, then bigger fool them ie **insert brand name** dog food is the best when it is a crap quality food. However as has been said before the best food for your dog is the one it does best on!! There are some organisations I definately would never allow a dog of mine to grace anything connected with them. It is also a reason why even though I like a particular artist and her songs I refuse to buy them.

I have owned Dobes, they were docked. I prefer the look of the docked Dobe and have to admit I find myself screwing up my nose at the sight of one with a tail. It was very easy to tell what my dogs moods were. They had extremely good balance and never had any issues doing agility running, playing etc. I have chosen not to own any more for reasons other than the ban on tail docking. If I wanted another Dobe then I would have one tail or not. I have seen docking done at vets and it had to be one of the worst docking jobs I have ever witnesses, I have also seen one vet who was extremely good. Personally I would band them at home as they hardly even wake up adn there is far less stress that trips to vets etc. A friend has a young legally docked Dobe and she has been hassled very badly by a local vet whom she now does not see. The dog was done before she got her and legally. She has said if she ever got another one she would want the tail on as the crap she cops is not worth it, although due to reasons other than tails she will probably not have another either.

Not exactly sure what the point of your answer is. It was said they would love a SHOW tri, they are not easy to come by, a working tri yes well there are quite a few of them and as for the dig about the red tri - many people do not agree with the acceptable colours for the ANKC rego'd dogs. I really don't think the ANKC dig is necessary, we all know you do not like it and think it is stupid but suprisingly this forum is actually based aroung the dogs that are rego'd on the ANKC registry, yes I know there are others etc etc etc we have heard it from you all before, but cheap digs are not really necessary.

Endurance Test 2011 Thread
OSoSwift replied to TerraNik's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Wow Diva will be extremely fit - she will look amazing, good luck We do 6kms biking every second day and 4 to 6 kms of walking every day or sometimes every second day. SO sometimes biking and walking on the same day. Our trial is mid June. -
I make my own now, even thought the dogs don't wear them very often. The other place I have got them from is here They are made in America, but are easily paid for and ordered and with the dollar the way it is at the moment are very reasonable. They are fully lined so there is no rubbing off of coat.

Agreed and one day when I can get my BC I will come talk to you guys - Oh and I don't really care what colour, but prefer black and white

Thank you, Goodluck for tomorrow Rubystar - what great girls you have, a reflection of the work you have put in

Another forum I go on has Bacon, Liver, Radish, Butters and a few more I can't think of right at this moment. Not sure I would do it - I prefer people names !!! But they can be quite funny
-
Excellent, are they on Dogs WA site or the ANKC site??

What's Wrong About Giving Dogs Human Names?
OSoSwift replied to W Sibs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I like to use human names that I like but am not quite brave enough to name a human baby that - or As I only had boys I have lots of girl names I like that I never got to use. I love Lewis's name and Rommi's as well. WHo lnows what the next one will be :D -
For me personally I don't have a price on my website but when emailed and asked ( but not as the only question for example) then I am happyt o tell people. I don't walk into a car shop. and ask price as the last thing, I need to know the price so I can budget etc. If people try to beat me down, then I get put off side. People are told puppies are to approved homes, are matched to the families and I am happy to say no, if they don't like it tough, infact if someone did try to throw insane amounts of money at me I would get very stubborn and cranky and definately refuse to budge. I can be very stubborn and hard to move if motivated enough! I am still really amazed at the amount of people that pay insane amounts of money for puppies in pet shops. There is no way I would walk into a pet shop, hand over my plastic and have $1800 just hanging around! For one, my CCard limit is not that high, and I can't buy a pair of jeans without mulling over it for a few weeks! How many people seriously just have that much money sitting there?? I think $800 to $1000 for a health tested Border Collie is a very reasonable price. Benshiva - just had to add, just checked out your website as well. Very impressive, lots of info and easily read health stats.

You don't win any money etc for dog showing, you get a certificate (if you are lucky) and a ribbon, sash or prize. If your dog is a big winner then you could ask more for stud fee's or more for their puppies for example as they are big winner in their field be it showing, dog sports, working etc.

My Dobe used to Speak- bark on command, talk- sounded somewhat like a Wookie!, and quiet talk - growling. All was done with a happy tail and demeaner. When she growled she also stared straight into your eyes, so if she did it to someone and they were not 100% sure they would ge freaked out by the hard eye contact. When we were teaching it and getting it properly on cue my mum was visiting. I went into a shop, Angel was in the back of the Stationwagon, mum in the front seat. She turned around to talk to Angel who was so porud of her new trick which was not yet properly on cue only that she happily sat there growling at mum who had never heard her growl before and was very confindent around her. It rattled poor mum a bit and she turned around sat very still and wouldn't talk to her or look at her. When I came back she said ummm Angel growled at me. I was like oh did she, mum said yep I wasn't sure what was going on. So it clicked and I said oh a bit like this?? gave her the command - she growled. Mum said yep but how the hell was I supposed to know she had been taught that!!! Made me a little more cautious with what I taught and how it would be percieved by other people. Rommi does a roo-rooing sound that lots of Whippets and other sighthounds make but many people think she is growling although she is just so pleased she has to vocalise.
