  1. That poor woman and witness. I hope the owner is severly punished, and I do agree these dogs should be euthanased. Lack of good fencing, lack of correct socilaisation and training. End result = horrendous
  2. Hmm, I had Dobes which my OH was not into at all. He tolerated them but that was about it. He appreciated that they were trained etc, just not what he was into. He chose a Stafford and Brutus fitted his temperment perfectly, and still does I chose a Whippet as I had a list of what I wanted in a dog and shortlist of breeds etc. As it was to be more my dog I got to choose. He is now smitten and we went on to get a second Whippet with a third in the future. he said we will never be without one. The OH really likes Braccy breeds though and has fallen in love with Frenchies. I do really think they would suit him. I do pretty much all the day to day dog stuff as in feeding, training, walking etc. He does the snuggling, bragging stirring up etc. I like many many breeds and would be more than happy to one day have a Frenchie so I guess that doesn't help you much at all!
  3. Tis okay RS Mine was like that BEFORE I had kids. Now I just have a good excuse people don't question
  4. I know this is not a long term solution but have you tried force feeding him small bits of food say small balls of mince. Open up his mouth and stick it way over the back of his tounge??? Not the worlds best solution but at least he will get calories into him. Have you tried some water that has had some sort of meat boiled in it??? Hope you get answers very soon
  5. So sorry to hear about your loss. I too know what it is like to have a dog with Gastric tortion. Fantastic photos of a stunning girl.
  6. mine will be in bed by 7.30 so I can watch anything I like
  7. Yep Rosie I know what you mean. I am the Saturday night rager as well......not! Tonight is training DVD night as OH is at work until midnight
  8. I seem to remember seeing somewhere they have suspended shows for the time being

  11. Homework is good :D Yes she did, she doesn't always, and it is definately something we are working on!! I have not yet quite figured out why, but I will keep analysing! Um righto a week, gee you don't give a girl too much time do you! Any suggestions apart from super glueing her foots to the grass? I have also noticed my drop signal sucks - put your hand back exactlyw here it was woman!!!!! I have smacked myself over that one already! I know why I have started doing it, but there are no excuses anymore!
  12. Thanks for the compliments guys :D It means a lot coming from the people I look up to Here is Rommi, the quality is pretty crap but I will look at trying to get it better later - at least I got it on there! All so new this Youtube deal! She has a slight treat went down the wrong way moment in the middle, but then back to normal programming.
  13. There is no way I would risk a minimum of 470km drive on an unknown judge. It takes a lot of organisation for me to be able to go, I want to know exactly what I am heading up there for!
  14. Whippet zoomies - love it. I LOVE watching Whippet zoomies Rommi is still very motivated and is food and toy motivated she just won't train until she drops and prefers to train every 2nd or third day, where as Lewis will train every day, twice a day. I can't get her video to load it gets half way through then it says it can't upload. If I get it up and happening I will let you know.
  15. Thanks Ptolomy That does sound good - car pooling and/or trialling monthly. I am easing OH back into it Give me a little time and we will be onto it. Would be nice to be closer, do wonder what may have happening if I had of moved in the otehr direction instead of down here! Oh well. When I win lotto I will be able to fly as I hate travelling!
  16. Great news Ptolomy and Emery. It is rather cold here tonight blankets all round and the heater is on.
  17. Would love a holiday in Vic Lewis is very food motivated, which we have worked on and encouraged, but he is also toy and especially I-Squeak addicted!! He is very fun to train because of his enthusiasm. Rommi is also great to train but I have to work harder to get and maintain her enthusiasm. She trains to a point, Lewis goes until he drops or you stop.
  18. very nice, any hints? No secrets It's an Italian. Oh lovely, Any photos?
  19. Once I get Rommi uploaded we will see how we go. Once we get our bottoms back into regular training hopefully we will have better work and a little more
  20. I am rather proud of myself at the moment, I have managed to upload a video to youtube - I knwo lots of people have done it, but it's my first Anyway it is a small snapshot of a training session with Lewis. He is not working at his best, and I have picked up some things I need to address, but any comment would be appreciated. Oh and I got a bit nervous being filmed so my footwork was a bit all over!
  21. I am now a beef cattle farmer and mum, previously I was a vet nurse and groomer. I have trained and titled Dobermanns in obedience, the show ring, gained an ET and Dobe Club titles I train and compete (when time allows) with my Whippets in the obedience and show rings and am about to embark in the jumpers and agility rings. I also have a play with flyball. I am training one Whippet for his ET title at the moment. I instruct in agility and obedience at my local club when required I have an avid interest in many things dog and research and reads lots. Search and rescue, anatomy, behaviour, training and various methods, anything to do with the medical side ie diseases and general doggy ailments. I have just finished a book on anatomy and why some things are more efficient than others for example angulation etc - very interesting and am going to read it again. I was known to read the veterinary compendium of continuing education book from conferences etc quite often. I found them facinating. I also make the odd dog collar and coat for mine and others I am also the crazy dog lady and I love it
  22. Emery I can fully empathise, I have lost a horse and a cat in the last 6 months. The previous 3 years have seen me lose 2 cats and a dog. Hopefully he is feeling a little better and it is good news after your appointment. I always get a tear or two when I read these sorts of posts. I am the kleenex ad I think!
