  1. Mine waited two and a half months, then came into season two days before we were due to drive 750kms to Perth. Luckily I could still take my other dog!
  2. Hmmm had a good day, Went to dog club, completely forgetting that today was club trial day, hmm and ha'd decided to enter - haven't trained since before we went to Perth. Dog before didn't present so dragged Lewis out of the car did a quick couple of sits, straight in. Had a couple of blonde moments in his heeling, then got it sorted, got equal first and 197/200 in Novice. Should try this non- training and barely any warm up ritual more often I think!
  3. Yay Big Congratulations to everyone that passed and I hope attacked dogs and people are okay - some people just make you wonder. Oh and hope the scrapes are not too bad
  4. Hope everyone passed at Altona. I am guessing CC passed???
  5. I use a plastic measuring metric cup
  6. EI - are you serious??? The courier was ripping off the food??? What an arse. I am guessing they have got most of it back now or was he selling it?
  7. A chicken wing is still lunch. I would give her two meals a day, put them down for a maximum of 15 minutes, pick them up and put it away until next time. Even with the flax seed oil, you should be able to glad wrap it and fridge it, then bring it out in time to get to room temp for the next meal. I am thinking she has you trained. If she hasn't eaten after 15 minutes walk over pick the bowl up and say bad luck and put it away. I can just about guarentee after a few days she will start looking forward to meal time.
  8. Long term high dose pred like my Stafford is on causes thinnning of coat and skin, hair that doesn't grow back really well. It can also cause muscle wastage. From memory MAson's dose was pretty low though?? Brutus is 23kgs and on 20mg every second day.
  9. I have seen a few dogs with it over the years. Most have recovered well after being diagnosed reasonably quickly. One the owner chose to euth. Some properties that are out on the Nullabour lose sheep and horses to it, so always vaccinated their dogs against it. They never lost a dog from it, or had one affected. I would vaccinate your other dogs as it is obviously on your property and it only take a small wound that you may not even notice to cause an issue. It can be very distressing for the dog and as previously mentioned the recommended treatment can and does vary, so I would avoid it at all costs. Hope your girl is back on the mend very soon.
  10. Great to see such lovely photos of your girl. I would be happy to get photos weekly, so never worry about sending too many
  11. Well done to everyone that has passed, and hello to new posters :D OUr last training session was on the Wednesday, I was going to do a short one on Thursday but was busy packing the car and it was very windy and raining, so gave it a miss. Travelled all Friday, was worried he might get a bit stiff from that, but came out on Saturday firing. He is fully recovered and when I wheeled the bike to move it, jumped into the training position. I, however am just getting their as I have had some issues with magnesium deficiency so I am only starting to get some energy back.
  12. With my Whippet I did around 8 kms at 10 to 12 kms an hour every second day, occassionally two days in a row then a day off. There were walks and off lead running around our 5 acre house block as well.
  13. I have clicker trained horses and dogs. IT is very precise and once you have the mechanical skill of using it down pat you will go ahead in leaps and bounds with your training. It is a very precise, non emotional marker. Your voice is less precise and can carry emotion that may impact your training such as frustration.
  14. She is fit and has well defined muscles. Great to see
  15. Ours haven't gone away this year - well maybe over the last week or two!! But nearly ran over a tiger on my motorbike on the 2nd of June. Not my favourite creature I must say!
  16. Had a gorgeous little Bull Terrier turn up to dog training last week, a fawn and white girl. Not very old, from a rego'd breeder and such a good looking girl. Can't wait to get bully cuddles next week
  17. RS even if she requires a vet visit, the sooner you can get anti histamines into her the better. General rule, shove tablets then bolt!!! I use Claratyne on mine as that is what I use myself. Most human anti-histamines can be given to dogs, you just need the correct dose. Claratyne is half a mg per kg. The tablets are 10 milligrams so one tablet per 20kgs. I alsways have them on me for shows etc.
  18. Thanks for all the congrats guys. Trial wasn't the best, but we did it. ET was great he went into auto pilot and cruised along. I think he was have finished on the lowest HR there. We are home again thank goodness. A big four days
  19. No the 3 year vaccine doesn't include KC. That is yearly. I do it if required. Lewis is now Kerrypark Urban Legend ET. He also got a CCD pass. He didn't work really well as I got him out too early and he was tired. I am very proud of him though, 750km drive Friday, ET Saturday, trial and CCD pass Sunday and 750kms back today. Love my boy and very proud of him
  20. Hope you and Hamish are okay- what a horrible person! N.M.E - I am totally in awe you ran the whole thing!! I was more worried about getting to close to you and upsetting Pippa or putting her off. I thought the Dobe lady may get pulled off as well. Lewis's heart rate - resting at home - is around 40, so I would expect it to be fairly low. The lady scribing kept double checking what the vet was telling her.
  21. It was changed RS because the shire in their wisdom bitumised the whole track at the other location. Had a great day
  22. We did it, he didn't pant, cruised it in and his heart rate coming in from his last leg was 85, not bad I thought. He is busy scmoozing and working the room at my SIL while I am resting my weary knees! Tomorrow a CCD attempt!
  23. This is me, I like working towards perfection within the guidelines. I compete mainly with myself. My idea of a dog doing really good heeling is of course the correct positions, but bouncing and a waggy tail. I want them to look happy and the word I use for Lewis often - flamboyant.
  24. Supposed to be showers and cold, but hey we will be fine :D
