Your dog is very underweight, his bones do not stick out because he is short in loin. Many short in loin dogs do not have bones that stick out. One of my dogs is extremely short in loin and if anything he goes from fit to fat looking much faster then a longer loined dog, so I am sorry that excuse is rubbish. He needs more food, his diet is extremely inadequate and lacking. It is much cheaper to feed a dry food than a tinned food which as mentioned is a whole lot of water and expensive water at that. There is no way he should be in training for anything, he is in far too bad condition. He should be doing nothing until his condition and strength have returned. Whilst there is the potential for this to be illness based the easiest way to check that theory is to feed him. If you cannot afford to feed him properly then find him a home or rescue that can.

As far as I am aware they do pay 100% less excess. My first renewal is due in October so we will see if it has changed then, but google them and there PDS is easy to find. ETA - just checked the PDS and it is still 100% less the excess.

Zora is GORGEOUS and those photos are amazing CC, I would love to have someone that could photograph mine like that RS you are going great guns with your girls you should be so very proud of yourself I also need to check in with you about the wheat packs? have you made them yet at all? If you have I will have to get onto sending you some money for them and postage etc :D MAs if you don't like dogs touching you all the time, don't get a Whippet, mine are usually draped over me when I am on the lounge, and if I am at the office they give me the hairy eyeball from the lounge until I goa nd sit there so they can drape over me! I have started 2 X 2 weaving and OMG it is hard for me to do nothing!

Woohoo got Lewis's certificate today so it's official - looks sooooo purdy :D -
and my thing is my closest show is a smaller courty one. I don't go there to avoid the city dogs - because they are quite often there anyway - but because it is 3 hours closer! If my dogs got their titles purely from those shows then They could be branded petrol champions who gained their titles against supposedly inferior dogs. The other thing in WA is if there is a show in Albany or Geraldton (and other places) there are no shows anywhere else, so I couldn't avoid them even if I wanted to.

I was wonderin about that Ness, Bloody stupid isn't it

Same with my ET title - 1500kms for a cheap arse ET title and two thirds of a CCD title. Can't have deserved them - all petrol titles/passes.

I would track them down. Teh papers got transfered to Guide Dogs so they need to transfer them to you. I am sure they put the dogs papaers somewhere and not just throw them in the bin. It will affect retrieving and really the Guide dog people should know where they are so it really shouldn't take much of their time at all. -
Lewis is definately my dog, Rommi well she knows which side her bread is buttered on, but she is more carefree with her affections. OH sits down about 0.2 of a second later Lewis lands on his lap. HE gets pats and loves and told he is handsome. The I sit down. Almost immediately Lewis gets off OH's lap and up on mine. I then hear OH telling him he is just using him and how awful it is and how much of a girls blouse Lewis is. I hear cries of I have been used!!! WHat does Lewis do?? sighs turns away and goes back to sleep

OH said dogs are only inside if they are on their bed. OH said dogs are allowed on the lounge but only if invited and they sit on someones lap OH said okay sometimes dogs can get on the lounge and sit where ever they want OH said that dog stole my seat - get off dog and go sit on the other chair OH said that dog is in my seat, I said - move it, OH said nah it's okay we have other seats OH said no dogs on the bed OH said okay dog can sometimes go on the bed, but not often I went to feed dogs and couldn't find one - it was laying unpside down on the bed with it's feet in the air snoring. OH now bails people up and sings the praises of Whippets whenever he can, he used to tell me people didn't want to hear dog talk. Now I have to tell him to hurry up as we are late and he has had poor person bailed up for a good 15 minutes and they are looking slightly desperate Ahhhh..................how times change

Goodluck to everyone doing the ET this weekend :D -
My vet gave me exactly the same story (that's why I went to the vet down the road who had it in stock). They also said they contacted the drug company to ask if they would guarantee their C3 vaccination and they were told no (do they "guarantee" C5?). It costs less to get one trienniel vaccination and KC only when you need it. In the end everyone has to make their own choices and I feel the younger the dog the more cautious you have to be (Parvo is everywhere ). We only have one vet, the onther ones are at least 400kms away.

Don't have the option of picking mine up bit far, but I am quite sure it is probably in the mail box, just haven't been into town to check my post box WOw I hope your elbow is okay - Ouchies! Painkillers and maybe a mine or two will have it sweet for trialling I am sure! -
Toy Dog, I think the image was put up as a joke, it is an abviously photoshopped photo. I don't think it was put up seriously at all.
-
OSS, What is BB? Can your vet not order in the C3 for you if given prior notice? Sorry BB - is Bordatella Brontiseptica - The bacterial component of KC Parainfluenza is the viral component, which is already in the C4 vacc. Yes possibly I could, BUT! The vaccine comes in packets of 10 so I would have to pay for all of them, which if I have 8 + puppies yeah no worries, but if I only have 5 or less, it would cost quite a bit! I find it very frustrating!! To be able to get the trienniel vacc I had to find AT least 8 people in total that wanted it for them to consider getting the vaccine in as they had to buy 10 at a time and they do not recommend it, or even tell people it is an option. It also costs more the get one trienniel and three KC vaccines than it does to get 3 C5's as they don't want to do it.

Some dogs are non-awarded for poor temperament. That can be worked on. Some dogs are non-awarded for petty injuries (e.g. slight limps) that they recover from. Some dogs are non-awarded for being so far away from the standard that it's ridiculous. Problem is that they a not always non-awarded. When I steward I enjoy encountering judges who refuse Challenges. It means they are taking their role seriously. I made lots of comment when the Grand Champion rules were altered, even having a letter to Dog News Australia published. I don't feel a need to repeat myself. I felt the OP's comments on the Australian Champion were petty speculation without expressing ideas that were adequate justification for engaging our consideration. CC VEry true, I was thinking of being non-awarded for conformation faults when I was thinking about it, but yes if for a transient injury that is different.
-
Me too! it had an obvious fault (very obvious!) yet I had also seen it awarded the CC on many occassions (albeit, unopposed - but it should have been non-awarded)... I guess as they have had the occassional challenge that is why they keep going back - variable reinforcement at it's best. They are only kidding themselves really at the end of the day thought aren't they. Sad if the fault is that obvious that it ahs been awarded at all.
-
I know several in my breed who have (same people with different dogs) Well I guess they are not put off easily, but geez they mustn't be the sharpest tools in the shed.
-
Wholeheartly agree with this. Yep thats a dog - wow look what I have or how fun I can be.
-
My idea of correctly socialised is been everywhere seen everything, met lots of people but only to great in a calm manner, ie new people are not a huge excitement thing. Also yes they meet other dogs and mine go to PPS, but from a young age they are trained around outher dogs, and work very closely but they don't get off to play with them. Training time is not play time it is work time, so I guess I neutraliase them to other dogs in that once they are around 16 weeks they only play with my other dogs. If I had an only dog I may find a companion they would play with, but haven't had just one dog for a long time. Mine enevr go for play dates. Part of that is Lewis is very breedist and only likes playing with Whippets, Rommi will play with most dogs given a chance but is very focussed on me.
