HEy Jules I have alerted WnH to your thread, she has had a dog with a liver shunt diagnosed later and has has the surgery and is all healthy now. Hopefully she will pop in with some helpful advice. So sorry it was something like this. OH and hindsight is a wonderful thing, so make sure you don't beat yourself up about not picking up on it sooner.
-
Why do they have to hand them over to the ranger couldn't they get them euthed themselves???
-
Piper I second emailing Sherel, I am sorry it is so hard for you to get and also for the customer service or lack there of! I am not sure exactly how long a 20kg bag lasts my three as I take samples and smaller amounts out of it from time to time, but they get around 4cups a day between them and seems to last a while.

Oh Jules that is no good, would that maybe help explain her fussiness with food a little???? I did actually wonder Liver as a friend had a dog with a liver issue that had a fluidy abdomen. Hope she is okay and you get more conclusive news soon. WnH had a dog diagnosed when he was older maybe she can offer you some knowledgable support

Any news yet?

Gorgeous photos CC - wish I lived closer Ptolomy - hope your mum is comfortable very soon. A friend recently broke her shoulder into about 6 pieces ( after being body slammed from behind by her GSD) and it was very very painful for her. Oh and cereal is always good. Mim hope your mum is better soon, and yep cereal is good

My "Stafford" I believe to be actually a 1/4 Pitbull. He was not from a rego'd breeder. HE has never been an issue...Why??? because he has been socialised, trained and I have had control over him. HE does not roam. he is not allowed to go up to people willy nilly. He was once harassed for over an hour by a dog trying to pick a fight ( I was not there or would never have jappend) HE finally had enough and slammed it - once only. It backed off, he went happily on his way. Matthew B if it was up to people like you my dog would be killed. Why?? there would be no need, but ebcause he may be 1/4 PIt Bull he deserves to die - I don't think so

They may be not contacting you for other reason, computer meltdown or some such thing. If however they have stopped contacting you due to that, well bigger fool them. Your (or anyone elses) sexuality plays no part in whether or not a home is the right one for a puppy.

It would depend on what we disagreed about. I can disagree with a persons opinion on something and still be their friend. The most important thing would be how they would look after and treat the dog and if we can comunicate reasonably well. I have a gay couple waiting for a pup from me and to be honest their sexuality has never entered my thoughts when deciding if they were an appropriate owner. Agreed with Sandra 777 - Nope not to a PETA activist - as I am quite sure their views and mine on dog ownership would vary substantially.

I feed Black Hawk and distribute down here Wendy is the Perth supplier and a really lovely lady and very prompt with enquiries. I have a new shipment due to hit here Tuesday or Wednesday as well as the cat food and dog treats - are my dogs going to be doing the happy dance in the laundry or what! I trialled feeding my dogs only Black Hawk - and training treats and bones etc - for a montha nd they looked great. It was also really good for holding Lewis's condition while training for his ET title.
-
Yep good idea. I would report them also

In our Code of Ethics (WA) that would be going against the code of Ethics.

geez and humans are supposed to be the smart race - seriously we need a bloody good cull!

  That is VERY funny. My show prep is day before scrub the dog, day of show chalk white bits of Lewis , Rommi doesn't have enough, then a light spray over of shiney stuff, then we are off Maybe I need to try harder????

all sounds good in theory I vote they enforce the laws already in place. One thing I would like to see though is all puppies to have where they are bred ie who bred them on their chip and it cannot be removed. Then we would know where the dogs in our pounds are coming from. However enforcing microchipping laws already in place would have to happen first.

Banning the breed won't work, morons will go to a different breed and trash that one, then what? ban that, then the next and the next??? We somehow need to figure out some way of licensing people. Not sure how you would do it, but unfortunately many people that are attracted to the tougher looking breeds have NFI and/or want the tough dog or the guard dog and then of course there is an issue. There is no simple answer but we need to figure out some way of stopping or reducing the number of morons that can own a dog, or if they have had a dog that has caused issues they can't have another of similar breeding or something. I do imagine in our totally politically correct society of today telling people what breed of dog they can or cannot own would be in breach of civil liberties or something equally as stupid. I have owned quite a few dogs many regard as dangerous or potentially dangerous. Should I not be allowed to own them because other idiots have no idea even when mine have never caused an issue???

RIP little Chloe Many many hugs to you RS

Who Do You Think Is At Fault Here?
OSoSwift replied to Kelly_Louise's topic in General Dog Discussion
Definately not your fault. Even if the dog was injured even severly, still not your fault. I am very glad you and your baby are okay and although you will have to share walks I can fully understand why. Won't be long and you will be able to slip out while bub is having some dad time -
I agree SG - why a stock photo of a Pitbull like dog, why not put in a stock photo of a fluufy dog??? Anyway so very sad to hear they were refugees and had already fled terroe and violence and to ahve the dog enter their home - terrible. And yes I have also seen dogs and heard of people that have trained or tried to train their dogs to dislike dark skinned people. That poor poor woman, not even safe in her own home. May the dogs owner rot in hell or jail or somewhere.
-
my little boy is three, how horrendous, that poor little girl would have been terrified. Youw ould never recover from something like that. Put the moron bloody owner in jail.
