Oh what a pain. Hey do you have any details about what vaccine you used? was it a nobivac one? is it any different in concentration to the normal C3? YEs it was the Nobivac and the Parvo component is different, From memory a different strain than used in the normal one and had a higher concentration from memory. So a bit different to the yearly one.

Whatever I have Guinea Pigs and have never seen a snake neither their house or lost one. I do know of one Guinea Pig that was bitten by a snake, but I doubt it would have been because the snake was attracted, more just wrong time/place senario

No worries I got a reply fairly quickly. Glad it helped you

Well where I live we get a lot. The Tigers seem to like water and are quite regularly found in or very close to it including buckets and troughs, so I guess life experience tells me that if I have water around and close to my house they will seek out the water I have out as I have seen them doing just that, but hey what would I know I only live with them.

So the police officer would prefer you to have left your dogs to run around over broken glass and eat god knows what would he??? Bloody stupid, was he thinking they were always in there? And why the complaint to DOCS you were broken into I am quite sure you don't have flour sugar and kitty litter spread around your house normally??? Sounds rather odd to me, why would they report you for the state of your house when you just reported a break in????? I would be really pissed off.

Any dog that is not registered as a pit bull or cross that is then deemed one by a ranger or whatever they are can be seized and euthed even if it is known they are not but their is no proof ie a cross bred or non ped registered breed that to the said person resembles a pitbull or cross. Any yes any person can dob in a pitbull to this "hotline"
-
Oh crap it is as bad as I thought. There will be many many people that are affected by this and many dogs euthanased. And guess what it won't work.
-
oh bloody hell, yep they would have been told where to go and not to politely if they had of touched mine, may have had a possible issue catching them though, strange person lunging in for the grab would have them skipping out the way! bloody morons

OSoSwift - that is sad to hear. My Mum had the same response when she asked about the 3 year vaccine in Mt Barker. They told her they didn't want to give it because they think people won't come back each year for a check up (not a good reason!). Luckily our vet in Bunbury is a bit more forward thinking. Zazu had it for the first time 2 years ago - I didn't even realise until I looked at the vacc certificate and it said the due date was in 3 years time! Not only that, I had to find enough dogs that had owners that wanted to use this vaccine before they would order it as it comes in a box of 10 - I got 9 I think and the vet said she would use the other on eon one of her dogs. It was either that or I paid for 10 vaccines to use two. I got what I wanted but geez was it a do your head in thing organising it! I am thinking I may just take my dogs to Perth or something for their next one, or hope like hell my vet starts using it routinely. oh and yes the reason, most people that get the trienniel will not come back for yearly check ups.

Because I like the dogs I like. I can appreciate a good looking, fit healthy dog of any breed. A well trained, socialise and conditioned PIt Bull is a sight to behold as well. Each to their own, that is why there are soo many types and shapes of cars around.

so how many registered Am Staffs are going to be pulled aside because they are of pit bull type or supposedly a cross as determined by Ranger Joe, then all crap hits the fan because they are not on the dangerous dog register and hey presto dog is seized???? I hope I am wrong!
-
OH yes you are right, but he could still be classed as a pit bull when he isn't and has never caused a problem.

When I worked at the vet hospital most men said they either needed their pockets picked, or were going to go home two stone lighter. IF you so oh so a castration then the visibly cringed. Most women asked for a hysterectomy for their bitches, men asked for them to be sterilised. To me neuter seems to be more american and I have never used it. My brother always called the douverless after they were castrated!

I have a feeling that we've looked into those pics before and that the dog that is stacked is actually an AKC registered Amstaff. I'm sure NSW councils used the same pics and we took them to task over it. Time to go through those pics again and complain I thought that was an Am Staff as well. NOt good, not good at all!

If nay dog can be trained to do it why don't you get one that is not banned?? Seems pretty simple then you can happily have it in your backyard and no-one will care less. Personally I think you are full of S*^t and just trying to get a reaction. This is very worrysome. My old Stafford could be mistaken for a Pitty cross. He is not rego'd and a BYB boy his mother pedigree with papers, his dad a pound rescue. My boy (in his hey day, now he is old not so much) 19 inches at the shoulder, brindle, short coat, 26kgs, muscular, boxy head, etc etc. One dog I wasw confinced was a pitty was a tri colour boy, stunning stunning dog. He was a Boxer Bull Terrier X. I was amazed when they said he was not a Pitty. I would hate to think dogs liek hima nd my boy could be seized and euthed for no reason what so ever. I am really worried what this will mean to thousands of dogs because so many bull breed crosses will die because of this

I have strained my voice yelling at a dog to avoid a dog attack. Because it was in a growly voice I guess. I had a sore throat and raspy voice for a few days. No need for smart arse.

Spey for bitch, casteration or casterate for dogs. Desexing for dogs in general
-
nd listen out for your birds. Most of mine were alerted by the Mickey Minors and Magpies. If the birds go into alert we stop what we are doing and go and check

A friend of mine always swore by a bucket of water on the other side of the fence. IT can't hurt and they may go there instead of into your yard if they are seeking water.

Our Tigers main food source is frogs as well so water is definately a big part of their habitat. it's when the wet areas dry out, and the frogs become scarce that we have more of an issue with snakes.
-
I have seen many snakes in my stock troughs swimming up and back, one trough even looked like it had two poly pipes going into it until one disappeared and when I went around the other side the tiger snake was doing laps. We often see them going across the creek. Most of our snakes are found around the lower lying wet areas and it is known around here that they like water, the browns not so much. If you have a water feature or dam near your house you have more tigers, so here water does play a part. When we have had very dry summers we have far more snakes around the house. I think the reason they try to get into my dog runs is because they have concrete are cooler and damp as the snakes I have found are all trying to get in along a 3 foot piece of the fence/wall. snake bit kits sound very interesting.

Saw my last one "of the season" on June 18th. After two warmer days saw my first one of the season 20th August and have seen many since - not by the house thankfully. We have 5 acres fully mowed, no flower beds, no wood piles no junk of any sort. All stock troughs are at the opposite ends of the paddocks to the house. We had around 20 near the house and 4 of those actively trying to get in the dog runs. A couple of times while the dogs were in there and a couple of time when they were not. My dog runs are meshed, shadeclothed and all is mowed or sprayed near them and yet they still like them. They do have water in them as the dogs are in there when I am out so I cannot leave them with no water especially in summer. Our snakes do not truely hibernate so a couple of warm days and they are out and about. Keep your eyes peeled. I have built a yard attached to my dog runs and have finshed putting the seals around the doors yesterday. I hope it keeps them out I am over them and sick of having them near my kids and dogs. Oh and I often seem them swimming in my troughs and the creeks so I would NEVER have a pool as tigers love to swim and we have lots of Tigers

Bitch inside Vari kennel, male loose in room - 7 puppies Dog and bitch tied through poole fencing, chainlink fencing and weldmesh Dog climbed two metre mesh bitch yard and found tied with bitch at around midnight Bitch cleared 6 foot fence (first time ever) gone for half an hour 9 weeks later 9 puppies Many many crossebred litters by dogs jumping back fences of varying heights up to and over 6 feet high.. Ridgeback bitch went through a glass window not once but twice to meet her Dobermann beau waiting outside Dog traveled 20kms to mate with a greyhound through weldmesh - 6 babies. dog travelled over 10kms 6 babies. Do not risk it a colourbond fence will not stop dogs getting to your bitch, or your bitch from looking for a mate. You need a strong dog run with a solid dig proof floor, a roof and very small mesh.
