Just looked it up and a country membership was $56 plus a $5 levy for something. You must have a double do you???? My OH is not interested in any dog shows, trials etc so mine are all in my name - my dogs anyway - and also to keep costs like that down. Mine is $146 as it has a prefix renewal in with it. Also from what I can remember your membership falls due 12 months after you join, so you shouldn't have just joined then get a renewal.

$95 for associate!!!!!! Is that a double membership or single?

WOW I thought it was around $70???

Just A Heads Up. They're Back! It's Snake Season Again
OSoSwift replied to LizT's topic in General Dog Discussion
As long as you stay out of their way when they are high tailing it it is not too scary. Being in the pathway makes for some very fast dance moves that would leave Fred Astaire jealous!!! Incidenatlly SC, have you had a brown snake really make a screaming sort of noise (think almost cat fight kinda noise)?? Around where I come from very large brown snakes are common and if they think they are trapped they arc up pretty quickly and make a weird screaming sort of sound. One friend had it happen when he opened the doors of a shed, wondered what the hell the noise was, saw a very arced up, large dugite heading straight for the open doors ( and him) and it made this sound until it got out and away. I have never heard any do it, but then again I have never cornered any accidentally or otherwise! -
How Dd You Convince Your Oh To Get Another Dog?
OSoSwift replied to Atanquin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Cosmolo that is very funny. I said oh look this boy is going to be rehomed isn't he a good looking dog. OH- oh yes he is a very cool looking dog A day or so later, hey you know that dog that is going to be rehomed, apparently him and Rommi get on like a house on fire. OH - oh do they? Go to house to pick up Rommi and meet Lewis. Whilst getting jumped all over and having a Whippet hanging off my head. So what do you think?? OH - he is a really good looking dog isn't he!! Yep, so can I have him? Yes you can, you let me buy new golf clubs and get whatever other toy, so yes if you like him he's yours. Moral of the story??? When you want something make sure you have credits saved up!!!! -
My vets are very good. They are expensive, but I have pet insurance for two of the dogs so it doesn't sorry me too much. There are different vets adn sometimes they can do a swap on you, but you are advised before going in (the old receptionist didn't but it is all good now she has left). There is one vet who is very good with horses and alrge animals, but I wouldn't like to have that one for a complex small animal issue. They still do yearly vacc's and it was a pain to egt mine done with the trienniel as they wanted me to get enough people that they would not waste vaccines, but they didn't tell me I had no idea or anything. I have never had desexing pushed on me, or anythign else that I can think of either. There are a couple of the vets in particular who always take note of what I am saying and take it on board. I had Rommi witha sore leg/toe once, I thought toe, they sedated her and said maybe but her knee is sore. I kept her confined etc as instructed and still thought toe. Two weeks after her being allowed to return to normal activity she fully dislocated the toe she had partially dislocated the first time while walking in a semi circle, so even though yes her knee was sore I thought the toe was causing more of an issue, and I atill think that. However she did have a sore knee as well. One of the vets says as a client I keep them on their toes as I am very knowledgable and will tell them if I am not convinced or agree with what they are saying. He says it helps him to make sure he has a good explanation as to why he thinks what he does. It also helps that I worked for them for nearly 5 years as well

Endurance Test 2011 Thread
OSoSwift replied to TerraNik's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yep it can be hard to find the time. My kids are pretty good, so sometimes if I was really pushed I put them infront of the TV (Yes I know it will rot their minds) and do bog laps past the house Other times I was harping on at the OH to get home, hurry up etc then would take off on the bike. Motivation was good, making sure it was done every second day was a bit harder at times I did ever second day then did two days one day off for the last month I think. -

Start biking and build it up, really it isn't hard if you give yourself enough time. If I can get fit enough to do it anyone can -
I was walking through our local Ag show one year with my Dobermann on the way to the Dog Club display. Out of nowhere a young child - maybe 3 or 4, runs up and throws his arms around my Dobes neck and gives her a big bear hug. The father following 6 foot behind, laughs and goes "Oh he loves dogs" Me - well yes so it seems but what would have happened if my dog did not like being jumped on and having her face got in by a stranger?? Him 'Well she doesn't seem to care" Me - No she doesn't, but do you know she actually has a neck condition which if aggravated is extremely painful, hence why she is wearing a harness. If your child hitting the side of her neck had of caused her extreme pain she may have lashed out and bitten his face, since it was in her face at the time. Him - Oh Me - So don't think it would be a good idea to teach your child to ask if he can pat the dog first?? Him - Yeh maybe People are stupid and don't think and for some reason expect all dogs to be socialised with kids and think all dogs should be happy being mobbed. It really annoys me! The dog should never have been of lead to get into the situation, and the child should have been taught better!

Whenever I ehar a call name I like I write it down in the back of my diary. Three lists, girls names, boys names, and either I have themes going around in my head for a litter.....Beach boys for example

Leaving Dogs Inside House When You Go Out
OSoSwift replied to poochiemama's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mine are not normally left inside when I am not there, however I have forgotten they are in and left them there from time to time and when I come back they are usually exactly where I left them!!! -
For me there is nothing unproffessional about a vet or nurse showing emotion or maybe shedding the odd tear. A full on balling session yes, but a show of emotion or a tear, no. It shows they are compassionate, care and the animal means more than just another number to them.

I was given some to try it essentially smells like cloves but is expensive

What a gorgeous girl. The way in which you have used the clicker before is not the correct way. It seems you were using it as a cue rather than a marker. I think if you revisit it and use it as a marker (always coupled with a treat) then you will find she eggs on VERY quickly and great progress will be made and very quickly. Yes your life will change after bub, but you can still sit in the lounge room with a pot of treats and get her mind working. Bub can be asleep and you can grab a bit of time here and there to train. Goodluck with it and it sounds like you have a plan and a very supportive breeder.

OSoSwift replied to LizT's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well I guess that is a good thing, that is if getting a dry bite from a snake doesn't give me a heart attack at the time!!! It also makes me thankful we don't have Taipans!! A lady just over the road got a dry bite from a VERY large Dugite. She didn't feel off at all. Thank goodness they do do that -
Very very funny :D What is even funnier is we also have a Stafford and he has never even bothered to try to keep up, never mind overtake the Whippets :D

Maybe buy a small piece of turf (yes the real stuff) put it on some paper and maybe plastic in a larger pen when you cannot supervise your pup and she will learn over time that she is to toilet on grass. Personally though I would be over the moon she has had no accidents inside and I wouldn't care too much at this stage where she toileted outside as long as it was outside! SHe is a tiny baby and you need to realx. If she does have an accident inside it is not the end of the world. She needs more freedom and interaction with you. Yes you need to keep an eye on her and watch her body language, but she needs to be in the house with you not stuck in a small pen.
