  1. Um I have Whippets and Greytmate has Greyhounds so what the hell has Whippets got to do with it??? I have also had Dobermann's. I must have missed where having a sighthound means I have a few roo's loose in the top paddock
  2. That is the worry isn't it, then it will be the nasty (insert breed here) and not the stupid womans fault.
  3. Tris rescue needs people like you. That ad is so typical of PETA - Morons. What a load of rubbish. I would not buy a rescue ever so I haven't killed anything. I have held loads of dogs that have been dumped ended up in pounds and been euthed because people are morons and dump dogs, breed litters wily-nily and don't give a shit. I have not killed any dog by choosing to buy from the one source I am happy to buy from!
  4. Sounds good to me Tapua. Mine is an experienced vet nurse to monitor the animals at all times, the monitor oxygen and something else via eqipment- can't remember what, as well as normal checks of septh of anaethesia etc and there are 6 vets and ummm around 6+ nurses in the practice
  5. Yes it probably would but you would have to have insurance and it wouldn't be the general public as such, only people who's dogs and they exhibited the right personality for a dog park situation As I would own it I could tell them to get on their bike
  6. My quote included anitbiotics and pain relief but not fluids
  7. I do not feel guilty at all about buying the best dog for me which is a pedigree dog from an ethical breeder. If more people did that and therefore researched and found the right dog for them - regardless of where it is from, less dogs would end up in pounds to begin with. I do not feel guilty and although everyone is entitled to their opinion I don't have to agree with it or them with mine. I also support rescue, ususally locally as they have little to no resourses and do a great job with very limited help
  8. I know that it can cause some issues from toxicity, but hadn't heard of animals being poisoned when used correctly. Hmmmmm interesting
  9. One of my goals in life is to build a large privately owned dog park with pond for swimming and any dogs or owners that cause an issue such as above will not be allowed in. Now to raise the funds or win lotto...................
  10. I was talking about this earlier with Rebanne, those little parts could be eaten with ease, compared to a plastic buckle - both can be eaten, but the little press studs would be gone in a second. Yes I agree, those plastic press studs would disappear very quickly and then the potential consequences could be very nasty. I always say Whippets can be a real colour lottery potentially Adds to the excitment :D
  11. well from what I have seen a myth. Although bobtails will eat baby snakes. I have also been told that dugites and tigers won't go near each other, I get around 3 feet is not near????????? I am just quite thankfull that so far, I have not seen too many snakes at all, nowhere near like last year where it was daily occurance there for a while!
  12. Yep that says it perfectly. To me an easy keeper is a dog (or horse) that not only does well from its feed, but does not need special care due to health or temperment. A bitch that whelps easily, settles quickly and does not get too stressed throught the whole process. Yes I expect guarding dogs to guard etc, but they should appear settled and happy with what they are doing. They do not need any particular considerations in regard to leaving them to go out or having to worry about storms etc. Now I know people can create monsters at times in that regard but it is less likely to happen to a dog who has a stable temperment.
  13. But then they get bitten by spiders like poor Bear! Our old Stafford boy got bitten by a spider on his leg once, geez he was in pain and he is a dog who well, just doesn't show pain!! Poor Bear Lots of hugs and kisses. We don't get too many Bobtails around the house, more snakes than lizards. That is why I have a very good leave it trained with my dogs, add to that the pitch change if they are about to even think about sniffing in the direction of a snake and well they move very sharply
  14. Great idea, will keep this in mind if/when I breed another litter. Lots of fun is had with this baby Now that machine means business. I am quite thankful my breeds comes in a multitude of colours and markings and generally no collars are required
  15. Out of interest with cords. On other long haired non corded breeds if they get mats they pull tighter and can cause hair to tear out and cause skin issues and ofcourse gret discomfort. Why does this not happen in corded breeds? Is it because they are thinner and therefore are over a smaller surface area? Why does keeping a Puli, for example, in cords not cause it an issue?
  16. My clipper hand is itching........................
  17. Weelllll not sure they would like that!!! Mine would be more likely to be bitten by a snake around the house than bitten by a shark at the beach. Snakes worry me far more than Sharks!
  18. We have had two whites cruising around in near the port and in the bay where most of the swimming occurs......................hmmmm I think I will stay ON the beach!!!!
  19. Ah nope, saw our fair share when doing canoeing at school
  20. CAR - Central Animal Records CAR NSW - Companion Animal Registry AAR - Australasian Animal Registry NPR - National Pet Register Petsafe HomesafeID (seems to be just for QLD) OMG 6 now. Will have to the last ones details as I do not have them. Very tricky in rescue getting it sorted. Blimey no wonder it's confusing!
  21. I would imagine that the people that own the dogs are used to the smell and would not notice it. Not rudeness, it's just what you get when a handler has very poor hygiene standards. Same as those disgusting handlers that think it acceptable for the dog to urinate inside the building. Obviously they are accustomed to living with that smell in their homes and they don't realise that other people are not used to it at all. Some handlers are just filthy, dirty grots. But luckily the vast majority of show people have the cleanest, best groomed dogs you will ever see. That is possible, and yes allowing a dog to urinate inside the building is just gross. I still cannot think why anyone would turn up with an unwashed dog though. It's not like they don't know its coming up!
  22. I consider it extremely rude to present a smelly unwashed dog for judging.................
