I also prefer a late starter, my bitch came in at 18 months and 1 week - exactly the same as her mum. Her seasons since have been around 7 months, the last was 10 months, now at 7 months and waiting

If they are on a balanced diet shouldn't they be getting adequate Iodine?? And why would you only supplement during pregnancy and not all the time?or should you supplement all the time? The reason I ask is I know there can be issues with to high levels of Iodine as well. I also have learnt Whippets can quite often have a thyroid range that is normal but lower than the average dog

Fingers crossed Grumpy is okay

Would You Take Your Pup To The Vet On A Leash?!
OSoSwift replied to Cavamum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I, with two friends have ran a puppy pre-school for 8 years open to puppies 8 to 16 weeks who are up to date for their age with vaccinations and have never once had any issues with parvo. We have had one class where kennel cough was brought in by a stupid. In the few rare cases where there has been an afterhours call out (we use the front reception room of the clinic) all puppies and owners are removed the room thoroughly disinfected and dried and puppies returned. We are VERY concious of hygiene and especially parvo -
Can I ask the benefits from kelp/ seaweed meal? I know it is to increase iodine, but what are the benefits of increased iodine please ?

Actually when l found out it was my mother who lodged the complaint l tried to call her but got no answer, tried to call dad - from my mobile got no answer. Hubby suggested to call from the house phone which is a private number - he answered said he was busy and that he would call me back that night but l'm still waiting for the call. Christmas day my kids rang they are 7,9 and 12. We always have Christmas at home, no answer so they all left a message on the machine but no call back. l feel bad for the kids we were suppose to show at ADI tomorrow (naughty dog chewed the electrics on the trailer so we are staying home now) but my two youngest show their own dogs and instead of being excited about showing they were worried about what to do or say if they saw Nanna or what if she talked to them. Well they say hello and keep walking.;) Agree, be polite and just cruise on past :) That way none of you will stoop down to a level you do not need to be on. Well done on gaining your prefix - eventually, I really like it :)

I would try for a natural mating, then a second 2 days later. You have said both the bitch and stud dog are experienced so I would not envisage too many issues If that was not successful then I would consider AI depending on the exact circumstances. Goodluck, love a good Kelpie :D

Mine are in their dog runs which have a yard attached. I have a huge issue with leaving them inside and my house is a very hot house so they are safer outside. Also their yard is surrounded by grass and therefore much less likely to burn incase of wildfire. The house is also surrounded by grass, but the trees are close and there is paint and jerrycans etc in the garage. We have a large amount of snakes so dog doors are a big no-no. I have gone to a fair bit of effort to reduce snakes being able to get in their yard. I also would not handle it very well if I came home to part of my house chewed up or destroyed. They are inside with me when I am home. I have occassionally left them inside when I have gone out for tea for a few hours and they have been fine.

It was of course the pretty much only time he didn't have his phone!! He was very annoyed at himself :) I immediately thought of you and thought you would have liked to see it. My phone doesn't have a camera - bit old but will get one when I get a new phone :)

Thought of you yesterday. OH was checking the sheep and they were grazing near the boundry fence. On the post or rather around the fence post was a very large tiger snake. It's head was at the top, it was wrapped around the post a few times and it's tail a few inches from the ground. He came home to get the video camera but it had gone. We can only think he was trying to get away from the sheep.

I cannot get over those bottom eyelids - just terrible.........................

I agree RS. My first thought was the dogs needed to lose weight so I could even begin to see what they were like. They have a DOL website so must be members, couldn't find them in the breeder lists though. Their website is very hard to read.

very dodgy site. Seems one of their main stud male has what looks to me like ectropian. And no health testing. Also seems they are most interested in money as one you have a deposit on a puppy you can only change your mind BEFORE they are born, then you have to take it regardless. I think I would only want my pups to go to someone who actually wanted them, not because they were forced to. And how can you pay a deposit on something that hasn't even been born yet?

I rememebr my friend saying she worked out what it would cost just for deworming/vaccinating an average sized pup to 8 weeks and it was I think $150. That is of course not including food, microchipping or extra for the bitch. And also not including care or vaccination/dewormers after 8 weeks.

Oh my haven't they grown!!!! They are enormous!! BUt most of all they are just gorgeous, I want to kiss their smooshy noses. Love the photos :D

My SIL's dog bloated and tortioned at around 3 I think. She ended up having her spleen removed and went on to a completely normal life and died recently at 14 and a half from old age related issues.

They are very classy but I like my road I live on and my surname as well as two phone numbers and the dogs name. I am not sure that would ift on them. Mine only wear there's when they are in town as they don't wear collars at home.

There are many working regisrties of working dogs that survive and function quite well even though they are contactable ie website, contact phone numbers etc. I am not sure being very secrative is possibly in the best interests of the breed. I am very interested in Staghounds as my grandfather had them as a young new land farmer and used them for controling kangeroo populations after clearing the farm we still own today. He also had a small whippet X greyhound for the Rabbits and to help on the roo hunting as well. Oh and hotdogz. I own pedigree dogs and show, do obedience and other dogs sports with them, I have nothing to answer for in relation to what you percive as they demise of dog health. Health, soundness and functionality are extremely important to me and the dogs I am custodian for. Your comment is offensive.
