  1. The quickest way to figure out if she is registered is for you friend to call the State canine body and ask if that prefix is registered. WA is the only state your are allowed to sell puppies without papers. Oh and getting papers sorted really doesn't take much time, if she doesn't have enough time to organise a litter's registration papers she certainly doesn't have enough time to be raising a litter.
  2. I asked our rangers and they said yes they do. If an animal has ended up a real mess then they may not, but yes every animals that is picked up is scanned
  3. Whippets can do lotsa stuff :) Mine dog obedience agility and jumpers, we have dabbled with flyball, but I am a novice handler and there is not a lot of chances to actually compete unless I go interstate. I show them, Lewis has his Endurance title, they chase bunnies very effectively. They are excellent lounge drapes, brilliant with kids. Ummmm what else, they can do anything - except herd livestock!! they will not go near those big cranky things that snot at them - no way!!
  4. Well my husband did tell me he thought Lewis was gay!! Recent matings have proven he is wrong, but although he does get a bit sookier he eats plays, trains normally. He mated his bitch Friday went to dog training Saturday and trained beautifully came home and mated her again then happily passed out on the lounge for the rest of the evening. I think I may just be VERY lucky!
  5. Steve thinks it's unlikely as his behaviour was quite good the whole time, but he can't be 100% sure. Okay, makes you wonder though doesn't it. A dog that was quite a bit older when he showed aggression, then within 12 months has to be euthed due to his symptoms. RIP Buster, thank goodness you had a chance.
  6. HAve just seen on another forum that apparently one of the vets for crufts is an equine vet, not sure if it is true and if it is makes no sense at all. But if so why on earth would they do that?
  7. Does Steve believe that the brain tumour may have played a part in the events where he bit his owners?
  8. HAppy Birthday Cricket - what a great video you are very clever :)
  9. Isn't that typical how often do poeple have a litter from their bitch then decide it is all too hard and then give them away or dump them in the pound - really craps me off.
  10. As already said some are better when they can see them. Can you crate the side by side? MIne are in dogs runs next to each other (with very small mesh between them) and they cope really really well. No whining, whinging, barking etc
  11. I have had one with Pyo and one I got as a desexed 6yo that was desexed due to getting a uterine infection after a caesar - not sure if that would be classed as pyo or not?
  12. THat Bulldog looks very athletic infact I am quite sure I have never seen one move so freely. She does look a little fat to me but hey I am used to looking at Whippets :) I of course cannot hear the dogs breathing. If a dog has had entropian surgery there is a scar line so I am quite sure that would be picked up by a vet and they should rightfully be excluded from showing and breeding. Will go and look at the Clumber now
  13. I have to agree. I have had many entire animals even when I was only starting out and never had an issue. Even the average owner can be very responsible, contrary to what many believe.
  14. There are a couple of kids I see at the park when I take mine that are VERY big for their age, it causes no end of problems for their mum. The boy is not old enough to start school yet - starts school next year, but looks big enough to be in school already and she gets questioned about why he is not in school all the time - apparently people threatened to call authorities about it and a little girl who is not yet two but is as big as my 4 year old - so people assume she can talk well etc and are baffled when she doesn't answer their questions. I have ajd the same issues. The people asking why he wasn't in school started at not quite three. WIth the younegr one around 3 a bit more. I ahve very tall boys and one had heaps of heair and quite often people would expect 4 yo behaviour out of a two year old. I never let them run amoke, but they did act far more immature than many people thought they should. Now I have a 6 yo who is the size of an average 8 year old and a 4 yo who is the size of an average 6yo. I guess that can happen when you dad and half your relatives are 6'4 and over!
  15. Just my 5 cents. I would seriously consider returning him to the rescue. He has some rather large issues and has caused an amazing amount of damage in a really short space of time. He has also damaged himself and cost you a large amount of money. Having a pet is not supposed to be that stressful. Saffioraire - I think the breeding was refering to the dogs you have had on medication that are part fo your breeding program.
  16. Arizona - BYB Rottweiler - PTS due to severe OCD Zeus - Registered Rottweiler (crap breeder)- PTS at 4yrs due to severe OCD of ELbows, shoulders and hocks, and HD. He also had had entropian surgery and a terrible temperment. Natasha - Registered Dobermann - PTS @ 12 year old age related heart issues Angel - Registered Dobermann - PTS @ 8 and a half - Dilated Cardio Myopathy, but also had spinal spondylosis and CI. Ancient Stafford will be 15 in June :)
  17. I know there was some uproar about people using products on the dogs to take of the fuzzy hair on the hairless, maybe it has somethine to do with that? Not sure how they would know excately what had been used or hadn't
  18. Have you ever tried to shop with a 2-3 yr old?? Its the worst thing ever and if I have to give my son something to eat to shut him up in the supermarket ,I will. I am after all paying for it!! Seriously some people ought to mind there own business. I'm sure all the child haters would prefer my toddler to be happily munching on something than screaming the place down. Sheeze, you just can't win. AND don't ask me to bring food from home as the supermarket workers think you may have stolen it . AND don't ask me to feed my child before or after I shop, they are not machines that are programed to eat when you want them too, as much as I would love that!. I would of course prefer not to have a hungry kid with me at all when I shop ( just to keep you happy) but thats impossible. SORRY !!! Coles has an excellent shopping delivery service, order on their website and they deliver to your door for about $10 extra. I hear Woolworths' one is good these days too. I for one plan to do the vaaaaast majority of my shopping this way once I have a kid! I would LOVE that option, sadly it is not available and even when it is they won't come out this far!!! I have two kids - that is why they ahve double trolleys, all kids can have a bad day but I think they can all learn to go shopping and deal with the fact, and not be terrible :)
  19. OH yep I think I know who you are talking about!! That person was one of the first I emailed :) Poor little sauage is now getting worse He has it from both ends nows. He doesn't even want "special" (gastrolyte) icepoles I have those flushable antibacterial wipes - I am using them in droves and I think I may end up with dermo from all the handwashing. I am thinking some Glen20 spray may also not go astray!

I would of course prefer not to have a hungry kid with me at all when I shop ( just to keep you happy) but thats impossible. SORRY !!! Geez no need to blow a gasket. If you had been following the thread you would have noticed that Liz is not a child hater and has some of her own. Perhaps she can explain how she manages it. I think the bigger problem is the people who don't pay for things they eat. When OH worked at Woolies they used to have to throw out a lot of yoghurt because kids used to come along and break the lids on them. I have never taken anything of the shelf and opened it to feed to my kids. I took a small esky bag with a sandwich a wtaer bottle and a snack bar or two. I never wanted the kids to think they could nag at me to get something off the shelf for them to eat so I always went prepared. Oh actually once I did get a packet of rusks and open them as I didn't have any at home and was buying them anyway. I made sure my son didn't see me get them, I opened them out of his vision then gave him one as I normally did. I found a little organisation and there was no problem.
  21. I will not be desexing my male Whippet. He fairly recently had to have the Suprelorin implant for medical reasons and I have to say he is much easier to train and live with, WITH his testosterone!! He was far too soft and flaky, not at all resilient in his training and would not push at all. Now he has testosterone back he is confident, works till he drops and never stops trying. With my bitches I do not desex them young but will desex once they are past breeding age. If I didn't want to leave them until 6yrs or so they would be at least 18 months prior to desexing.
  22. Awww how cute is Pippa. Yep I think Master 4 has gastro, he felt good and tried to eat then vomited within 10 minutes and is now laying down looking a kinda green/yellow colour! He was infact very good with his aim which is good in regarding to having to wash a multitide of towels, sheets, blankets etc. I hope his brother is okay today at school. He said he was fine - and did feel sick 4 days ago but never vomited - so I hope he is okay. I have had en enquiry for a show male Whippet puppy today so am rather stoked about that. Now lets hope she is baking babies :)
  23. Been up since 5am with a sick 4yo, going to be a looong day!!!!
  24. Just gorgeous, I love Rotti babies......One day I will have another Rotti I just love them :)
