  1. This, this and this again. Why is it in this society the person who is the total tool and the person actually casuing the problem doesn't get their backside hauled over the coals?????? The person who is dumping the dog is the problem. I have entire dogs, they don't roam or fight or pump out puppies. I even have entire dogs of the opposite sex and still can keep them from pumping out puppies - funny that is is called being in control of your dogs and their behaviour. Do something about the people who dump their dogs/puppies and the problem will be fixed. Euthanasia would be the prefered option but for some reason the Human rights mob don't seem to like that. It also amazes me how the leaders and spoke's people for apparent animals rights groups and the otehr loonies out there want to breed out completely the animals they supposedly care about. Me thinks they are in the wrong job!
  2. I would change vets if you need to. A reaction like that makes it a little easier to pinpoint the issue. It can potentially take a few weeks for the thing he is reacting to to get out of his system so some of it may be carrying over but his reactions sound pretty quick and severe. Good luck at the specialists and I hope your poor boy gets some relief soon.

    Whippet

I got my first pup with a 5 month old and a two year old. I think the kids have been knocked over a total of two times, and only a bump on their bum, certainly not sent flying. Whippets are essentially lazy. They like a good lung opener then go and hold down the lounge or bed for the rest of the day. They tend to mature reasonably quickly so are not silly puppies for a long time. Mine have never chased or nipped my kids or nipped anything. They have tried to chase the cats as very young pups, but training is started immediately in that regard so these days it is the young cat chasing them leaping Ninja kitty style! I think they are fantastic around young children and I found the kids needed more training than the dogs! As for the shedding they do shed a bit, nowhere near as much as a JR. I give mine a good going over with a Zoom Groom especially when they are shedding and rarely find stray hairs around the house.
  4. If your sister cannot or will not take the dog to the vet when required and feed it the correct kind of food to maintain her correct bodyweight she should not have the dog - Simple. It does not take a genius to figure out if the dog is not gaining weight then there is a problem. Tinned Pal is just crap and water and expensive crap and water at that. Maybe she should take that money and buy some real dog food. For goodness do the dog a favour and get her to hand the dog over to someone who has an idea. Once again you have been given advice and are making crap excuses as why it can't or won't happen. If they dog is skinny and she will not feed it report it to the authorities so they can sieze it and get the poor dog a decent feed. This topic really pisses me off as once again you are asking advice and then making excuses. As said before get your parents to feed her they have a good track record of overweight dogs.
  5. I don't think many Policemen in the UK carry guns at all. I cannot believe they were climbing fences and remving themselves left right and centre, goodness gracious, I would never trust them for back up!
  6. Whippet Rescue (Get Whippet) came straight to our aid by sending coats, we all help each other when needed, Cat's great! hehehe, I thought you might recognise it! Ahhh so it was that one - great :) It was the first one I made for Lewis when he came which he grew out of and he isn't big so tose poor boys must have been so skinny and tiny. I am so very glad that the coats are being used and appreciated :) ETA I recognise the teddy bear ones as well, Yay They are looking amazing. Very well done everyone involved you guys have done good!
  7. I am building a boarding kennel at the moment and although a couple of people are happy to have their dogs mix with other dogs(usually smaller dog owners I have found) there is no way we will being doing this. We believe there is too much potential for a problem. I would be totally shattered if I was entrusted to look after someones dog and it got into a fight and injured because I chose to run it with an unknown dog. I remember when I worked in a kennel years ago a family brought in their two Entire male Stffords who happily loved togetehr and had never had even one minor altercation. They were to sleep together and to be exercised together. One morning around 4 days in we went in to two dogs who had had a rather large barney. They both were covered in puncture marks around heads, necks and shoulders, bloody all over and thankfully we had two dogs who were still alive. After that the owners asked they were kenneled seperately but exercised together. The owners did not lay any blame as they had asked for those arrangements but it goes to show what can happen with the stress of boarding
  8. Blimey, that is one very spooked horse!! And yes it has amazing fitness. Love Arabians. I bet they think twice about doing beach locations for a while! Just this week we had a horse just down the road spook go through a fence onto the main road and got hit by a car. The horse had to be euthed due to it's injuries and amazingly the driver and passenger were unhurt. It was around 8pm so they would never have seen the horse coming.
  9. She looks GSD, LAb, Kelpie maybe spitz cross. Remember the world is small these days and everyone can have an opinion even if you don't agree with it. I have only ever seen one Saluki not at a show and he was desexed so I am thinking very few Salukis jumping fences and siring litters

    Whippet

Mine shed a little between coat changes but I just go over them from time to time with a Zoom Groom and that takes care of that. I have leather lounges so not sure about fabric ones but we never notice hairs around the place. I do notice them if they are shedding and I am wearing dark clothes and they are laying on me but that is about it.
  11. Mine gave me nothing either and demanded treats, pats, walks etc as per normal. Luckily the human kids got it right :)
  12. NO definately not. I am opening a boarding kennel shortly and dogs will not be mixing with unknown dogs. They will ahve play sessions with people and will mix with dogs from their household as long as that is what the person wants (I had two that had to be seperated or one would have ended up dead) I would never risk it. My own bitch can end up being snappy and bossy if she is pushed, she looks all quiet and meek and mild but given 10 or 15 minutes and she could retaliate and then I could have an injured or dead dog. Nope never.
  13. They look sooo much better already. That spotty dog coat looks very familiar???? If it is one I sent to a Whippet rescue over east then I am very glad they are helping such needy Whippets as these two boys. I am loving the updates :)
  14. Just on Sunday a child in my sons soccor game fell and broke his arm through a growth plate which necessitated a 750km trip to the city for surgery. That didn't make the news funnily enough???? Who in their right mind would leave a two year old playing out in a yard with a dog - especially not theirs - and outside at all really. The mother needs a bloody good slapping. I hope that little boy heals okay.
  15. I guess that it would be an allergic response and if it is different dogs may well be allergic to different things so it wouldn't be as simple as just removing it and then the itching would stop. Thankfully mine have had no itching and I hope it stays that way as they love it.
  16. I ahve a cafepress item and am happy with the quality of the photo and others have commented on the quality also. They do take a while though
  17. EF these babies are White Schnauzer babies so they will stay this colour. I believe they have only just become a recognised colour in the UK. Gorgeous babies Becks :)
  18. It should be covered in her boarding contract. Usually it is something along the lines of in X amount of days after the dog was supposed to be picked up the boarding kennel owner does this and this. If the person does not pay the account the dog becomes the boarding kennels owners property and they have the right to do so as they wish i.e rehome/euth. As mentioned if they do not have this in their conditions it should be added ASAP
  19. No, no, no don't have a thread like this when I just cannot spend anything and have a collar addiction!!!!! You lot are cruel!!!!!:D
  20. She looks a little like a Kelpie X Tentie to me :)
  21. I am looking for Boarding Kennel Software and would like to see what others use and what they recommend or think of the software they use :) Please :)
  22. Depends on the breed. Female only Dobes, I just don't gel with male dobes at all. Whippets either but love my sooky boys. Rottis either with a soft spot for bitches. Border Collies either :)
