  1. Just gorgeous and they are plump little bubbas
  2. I had one Dobe who would drown, she would only use one front paw, tip sideways and go down. The other could swim a bit but hated it. Both my Whippets can swim. One requires a need to swim - one I-squeak will do, the other chooses to run around in the water but not actually go swimming. Her dad is a complete water rat.
  3. SOme very good points and idea in here. I would still question why the smell though, I have only ever smelt my bitches if very up close and personal and when one bitch had an open pyo near the very end of a season - that stunk!!!! I wonder if there is a little more going on than just an average season?? I know nothing about the finer points of conformation but will say she looks very fit and healthy, even when skinnier she still looks fit and healthy.
  4. Poor girl, yep keep her clean with just luke warm water and off to the vet tomorrow morning. The stress of leaving their litters, travelling etc can sometimes cause their immune system to slip a bit.
  5. Snake bite? Snail pellets, 1080, Lucijet (banned but still around occassionally)
  6. I would email Sherel and let her know I think the email is in the first post, if not it will be on the website. I have had it once and continued to feed the food, but I don't have any dogs with issues to food anymore.
  7. Same as anywhere else. The only one we actually have is the American Pitbull. Down here we actually have quite a few

    Shy Puppy

My male Whippet looks away and prentends they are not there. He doesn't have value for interaction with other people. My bitch well, she's anyones and we call her a pat-me-tart. I would think about getting an experienced assesment - worst case senario they tell you you are doing everything right :) worst is they give you some things to work on - win win all sides really. I have had more than few BC's look like they were going to or have snapped in a vet-in-cage situation. I don't blame them at all. You just make sure you get them out/do what you need to do with the least amount of stress to them as possible.

    Shy Puppy

It is not at all unusual for a fog, especially a young pup to be worried at the vets. Quite likely every time the took him out the did something to him, injection, checked temp, felt his sore tummy. If I was a puppy I would avoid those things as well. I would call one of the trainers listed to get their assessment - once he is better- also to make sure you are happy in what you are doing. I wouldn't be too concerned. Having worked in vet hospitals a long time his behaviour sounds normal. Many dogs zone out or ignore you and hope you will go away.
  10. I found My Dobes and Staffords went together well, similar playing styles. Luckily when the WHippets came along he changed his playing style to suit, so they still got along well :)
  11. Interested to know when in your dog's eyes a black staffy crossbreed becomes a black staffy. Where did it say anything about a cross breed? What I am trying to say (perhaps clumsily) is that I don't think dogs can tell one breed of dog from another. A negative reaction from the dog is the result of the handler tensing up No I disagree. I have had my Whippet in an offlead situation with young puppies and he ignored all bar the young Whippet. He has only ever actively wanted to say hello to Whippets and Greyhounds. I presume it is what he has seen most of and is comfortable with them. I have handled male Dobes who would roar at other male Dobes even from a distance but not care less about other males of other breeds even Rotti's, Mals and otehr more "dominant" breeds.
  12. The police acted most appropriately in that situation, after all they are supposed to protect. I wonder what went do horribly wrong to cause them to do what they did. Times like this it would be good to be s le to go back in time and watch their behaviour and interactions. I believe it will be one of those cases where "they just snapped" or " they have never been an issue before" and the owner has. Ery little idea what they have been saying for some time. I hope the poor man is okay that would have been terrifying
  13. I owned one Stafford and two Dobermanns (who after 4 years had to be kept seperate) I live on a farm. I know what they could have done had they been allowed to roam. They never had the chance. My Whippets would cause less of an issue. They wouldn't look sideways at livestock and in no way would pick a fight with another dog or even bother going near it, but they also are never allowed the opportunity to roam.
  14. What gorgeous babies, I am jealous- I do covet a black and white :) I am pretty sure you can put it on mum, do you have a packet it should be in the info insert.
  15. How cool ST, I love tracking and would love to do tracking with my guys :)
  16. Just disgusting. That poor young man has lost so much more than his best friend and faithful companion. His brother will never forgive himself for making the decision to take the dog for a walk. These dogs should be euthed and the owner should face a very very hefty fine. Until the laws we have in place are policed correctly things like this will keep happening. The problem with large strong breeds is they attract idiots, the other problem is when allowed to get into a stituation such as this the damage is far more devisating than if they were smaller or less powerful.
  17. Agreed, if you feel it doesn't add up go with your gut.
  18. Nope, not something I would do myself but no. If it created a problem for the dog ie overheating then yes it would be cruelty
  19. JUst had TPLO surgery on one of mine $2500. Glad it is just the toe, hmmmmmm about the vet! Sprung toes are pretty easy to see
  20. I thought that was the case. Otherwise, I'd be like, a free private cremation?? :) What was discounted from the euth price exactly? Basically they discounted the whole price si it cost me nothing. I have spent a lot of money with them and used to work for them so while I didn't expect it I was pleasently suprised. My dog had been getting treatment for heart disease for 5 years adn apinal arthritis for 3 so we went through lots of medication and had lots of visits.
  21. Down here they have to be registered by 3 months, but we have no age for desexing. Some people register then get a refund once desexed, others just pay the higher fee for the first year then take in the desexing info and pay the cheaper rate the next year.
  22. I won't be using it again either. If I ever HAD to I would only ever go the 6 month one. But would only use it if was the only thing I could do. This was what I did in this case but made the mistake of using the 12 month implant.
  23. Yep it is his implantm his chip is a couple of inches down his shoulder. The implant is longer than the chip as well and a bit flexible. It is very easy to feel as is his chip due to the thin skin no fat etc.
  24. I also figure they are not as tough as some breeds so are more likely to be a bit limpy. Around her knee is still a little swollen, and becasue of the plate her leg looks wider. The other thing I have noticed is she seems to walk with her knee a little bandy. I am hoping this is just because she is not yet using it properly or because she ahs lost some muscle. I have a real thing about legs and straight legs and it will drive me positively batty to have to watch her running around with a bandy looking leg that started off straight!!!!!! ON the scheme of things though that is minor I know - particularly when you are going through what youa re with Kenz, Ness but with no hair to hide it, it might just get to me a little. I have also come to the conclusion that she will eb retired from the show ring. Due to her little bones, thin skin and lack of coat her leg will look abnormal and the plate easily noticable. So no more showring for her.
