  1. I would get a full check up at the vets to rule out any potential medicall issues. If that comes back fine keep on with the toilet training. Outside every 15 minutes!
  2. just incomprehensible. Disgusting oxygen thieves. RIP gorgeous boy
  3. none of my dogs have had to be sedated for xrays, oh except for when Rommi had xrays when she hurt her cruciate
  4. I went a while ago with one dog. I had a small amount of space directly infront of the bench which was about the size of her crate. I took one chair a book, a drink and some nibbles. A friend came as well adn we asked to be benched togather but weren't. I had my dog in a wire crate so she could be seen but not annoyed. I didn't so up my bench or have any name cards etc but would if I went again - which is pretty unlikely. Do not take any more than you need you will not have the room for any excess.
  5. Oh my other question, Rommi is around 10.4 to 11kgs. The weight ranges go to 10 then from 11, what would you dose her as?
  6. Thank you, have just been looking there. What are peoples thoughts on other products like Sasha's Blend and the vets all natural joint products?
  7. Okay I am looking at Joint Guard but am severly lacking on energy right now so could I please have some suggestions as to the best places to purchase Joint Guard please?
  8. She has had a course of Cartrophen, she started 2 weeks after her surgery and I gave her the rest once a week for 4 weeks. She will stay on those as advised, but I would like to add a supplement. Thank you I will look into them. The info is very much appreciated. Sounds like Joint guard is a good starting point :)
  9. I do my oldest is 5 in January and I think where on earth did all that time go??? My second one I got as an older puppy and he is only 12 months younger than my first. I know they will both be old together which saddens me sometimes. We recently lost our nearly 15 yo and while we were very sad whe knew it was coming and he was very old. Losing a dog at 8 and a half was terrible and I felt cheated. I try not to think about it too much really.
  10. My Whippet recently had TPLO surgery. Even though her joint looked great there was a very small amount of damage. She is recovering really well from her surgery but I would like to find a supplement to put her on to try and keep her joints as healthy as possible for as long as possible. She is an active dog who trains in agility and obedience reasonably regularly. What supplements have people used with success that may help me out to keep her arthritis free for as long as possible? Thanks :)
  11. My whippets have run into fences before but where they know the fences ie the 5 acres around the house and certain paddocks they know where the fences are and have no issues. Mine can be called off chasing bunnies and I once had an incident which saw a guinea pig and her babies loose and bolting around. Both dogs were told to leave and they did. They are taught recall and leave it from day dot and it is repeatedly re-inforced They are not allowed to take themselves off hunting and they are in their yard when I am not home. I have a strict no dogs in paddock rule, they are only allowed in when invited which is rare. Mine have never required stitch ups and they have run into trees but that was when they had eyes only for the ball
  12. It hasn't been in Australia long enough for people to have used it long term. No but it has been in other countries and I thought someone may know a bit more about it or know of someone who has used it. Seems no-one has so I will look for something else.
  13. Whippets do make great companions and even as puppies are not too full on - well not compared to what I was used to anyway :) My Whippets don't tend to run into things when playing they tend to sail over so I didn't have the problems with puppies running into and hitting/knocking over older dogs. Even as our older dog got very old and quite decrepid they never ran into him or shoved him around. Whippets tend to go very fast for a short time and then spend the rest of their time draped around. They also stack quite well when there are more than one of them. Whippets shed very little, have no dogs smell, are quiet and clean to have in the house, and are a quiet breed They don't like extremes of weather so in winter they like nice thick cosy coats on when they have to go outside - keep in mind they think if they get wet they may just turn into a pumpkin - they love their people and can be very much a velcro dog. Some people like it, some don't. They like nice soft beds and bedding preferabley yours, or failing that the lounge. I have found Whippets to be highly trainable, quiet and easy to ahve around and live with
  14. And they are some of the best in the world :)
  15. I personally would buy mine outright. If I had a good, term relationship with a breeder I may consider it but the key word is may.
  16. Yes chose your weekends and you can get lots of things in. Most I have done in Albany was showed two dogs, had both in the Obedience, jumpers and agility trials and ran a friends dog as well - I was well and truely knackered!!!
  17. No trials for around 6 years, no shows for around 8 I think. Closest trials/shows are Albany and Perth, Geraldton. Perth is around 700kms away I think there is only one Club now, there was the Kalgoorlie and Districts German Shepherd Dog Obedience Club as well. Not sure if they are still going or not. EGKC is.
  18. The implant stops testosterone production so I guess it can only reduce it until it is gone. Yes they would have higher levels of the actual drug in their system. I would email the company and ask them. I am guessing the affects of that happening would have been researched??? Rommi looks like she will be in season in the next 4 to 8 weeks - if things go as normal - so I will check his sperm count then.
  19. I would leave it and re-implant when you think it has worn off, or time it around your bitches seasons to make sure she cannot fall pregnant - if you know as yet what her cycles are like. The only thing I could see as being annoying with a vasectomised dog is you would still need to seperate your dog and bitch as they would still mate and I wouldn't be comfortable leaving them together and having them mate incase of injury. Also I see each mating as a potential for a bacterial infection. SK How is his temperment going after his Suprelorin? I know it was a concern of yours before you used it.
  20. For him I think it is wearing off due to the fact his testicles are increasing in size. I assume you would do a testosterone or semen test if you wanted to know it had actually worn off or not. When Rommi is next in I will do a semen test Vets just reimplant on either 6 or 12 months
