  1. Awww man, just when my credit card had recovered someone goes and posts this!!!!
  2. Great the xrays have come back clear, hope the verterbrae is nothing. Having said that I would now take him to see a Bowen therapist or similar. My boy had some gait issues and just could not hold a stack even if he wanted to - he tried but you could see it was uncomfortable. He also would aframe and drop his wither. After some Bowen he stands completely differently and is up and over his front legs. I do have to get it done from time to time to maintain it. He may have some soft tissue things going on that xrays cannot pick up and I have to say unless your vet is a chiro or bowen therapist as well they will not look for or find it.
  3. Thats no good Ness, sorry to hear that, must be so bloody frustrating
  4. I am afraid I am inclined to agree. What an amazing little dog. But with all of my decisions, quality of life must come first.
  5. You have seen mine :) You can use slabs or compacted road base or crusher dust. Easy to clean up poops but can get smelly if they are we'd in a fair bit
  6. My dogs get wild rabbit skinned, chopped in quarters and it only costs me around $7 a rabbit or maybe a dollar or two more- lucky dogs :)
  7. That's fantastic. Did you build them yourself - what a good job, do you contract out?? :p Yep we did build them ourselves. Dad did most of the very clever stuff, but I designed them and helped. The yard we moved but yep I dug every hole, dug out a trench then shovelled in blue metal which totally stuffed my back, attached the chain mesh and maintain it. I even got my own little push mower for christmas especially for the dog yard :) The OH of course did lots as I am only so strong :) and he mixes good concrete There are some things I would change though. After building our boarding kennels from the groud up I am VERY over buidling so nope sorry I don't contract out :) They are at www.countrylaneboarding.com :D
  8. A lot of manufacturing processes squirt set amounts of the ingredients into each container. they don't mix up a batch and then dole it out. Canned goods for example put set amounts of the ingredients into each can and then seal it and boil it. They measure temperatures because they know its cooked after so many minutes at a certain temperature. It would not surprise me to learn that the spot on treatments get a similar process (not the boiling part  ). Oh okay hadn't thought of that, I a, very interested to see what it says now :) I have now changed products but never had any flea, work or heartworm issues while doing what I did, which was around 6 years
  9. This is looking inside. They are 5 metres long and 2 meters wide per dog run. there is now flashing completely along the sides at the top as well :) So nothing can get out or in unless it is a mouse :)
  10. Yes you can shut the gates to the runs and there are two which are fully seperate. I had two Dobe bitches that were never together if I wasn't there and for the last 4 years couldn't be together at all.
  11. I have seen Gazebo's set up with puppy pen panels around the whole gazebo. He can have a chair, cushion, toys, food, even a little DVD player set up in there to keep him occupied. He can't get out and run up to any and every dog - as we know that would be inviting trouble - yet he can move around quite freely in your space. Try and find a nice person to keep an eye on him while you are in the ring as you can be assured they won't care where you are until you are in the middle of showing your dog. So see if someone can keep an eye on him while you are in the ring so he doesn't starting yelling for you or getting upset.
  12. What a fantastic setup OSS - I'm definately gonna ask you for some advice when I get some land to do something like that on :) Agree! That's great. Thank you, I started off with the dogs runs, I designed them and dad and I built them. They are 12 years old. The chainmesh was our cat run but over the years we went from lots of cats to one, so decided that we could use that much more wisely, and enter it is now recyled as the dog yard :) I know it isn't 100% snakeproof as nothing is, but I am happy as I have done everything I can to make it a safe, secure and happy place for them. It was a god send with Rommi having recently had TPLO surgery and now being in season :)
  13. I am interested to see the answer as I would also assume the product was made in large quantity then placed into the ampuoles. I am also going to look at the active ingredeints in my livestock back liners as well to see if they have the same active ingredients as I hadn't thought of that.
  14. Another update :) Lewis's testicles are definately back to normal size and feel and have been so for a few weeks. Rommi came into season so we are booked in to have a semen test done on the 24th of this month. Will posts the results when I have them. Lets hope 2 years and two months after having a 12 month implant administered things are back as they should be!
  15. I know :) i wasnt applying it to all of them, I could train a dog to an extent, but most of them couldnt. Especially the ones in New Zealand where I am from, dont really know how it is here. Sorry for the blanket statement :) nah it's okay :) I find the Vet nurse bashing over PPS schools a little frustrating at times that's all :) I worked as a vet nurse, receptionist and groomer over 15 years and yes many of the people I worked with had no idea at all( and a scary lack of any idea to be honest) but I ran a very successful PPS with 2 friends for 8 years :)
  16. Yep true but you can be a vet nurse, or ex one and know about training dogs..................
  17. My lasy Dobe I got to pick out of a list of names, but had to use one of those names as there was a theme. Rommi was named - within a theme before I got her and I got Lewis at 8 months so he already had his. Interestingly I knew the person who got him from the breeder and voted on the name Lewis when there was a vote for one of these four names put up on FB. So I love his name :) Rommi is Lil Seaurchin and Romi means seamist in Wlesh, I added the extra m, so her name relates to her rego'd name Lewis is Urban Legend so not related but he was born on Friday the 13th, hence his rego'd name
  18. I don't think mine suffer too much :) Although I am sure they would prefer a leather lounge :) When I get rich enough to snakemesh 5 acres, then they can have free access to that area
  19. I see it often as well, it really worries me, dogs are not robots adn I don't care how well trained they are, they can and will go onto roads and they do die as do their owners like this poor lady. RIP.
  20. If you play with him in his playpen, then want to use it to confine him when you are showering etc then he won't settle in it. I would have him out with you when you can supervise and use the pen when you can't. So I would teach him pen is quiet time. I train my dogs in the house but never do zoomie games or play raz up games inside. These are for outside as I do not want dogs racing around and through the hosue. They can do that outside.
  21. I live on acreage and have dogs. I have crates, dog runs and use them. When I first moved here I had Dobermanns and a Stafford. I can guarentee anyone found a Dobe even meandering through a paddock and it would be dead, no questions asked. I built dog runs and exercise yards. Then the Dobes(bitches) decided they would like to kill each other, so they ahd to be seperated at all times unless muzzled and me there. I worked full time. I got up at 5.30 to walk and train thema dn also did the same after work. I also have a 5 acre house yard that they had free running/playing in. I cannot leave my dogs out in that yard as one the fencing is livestock fencing not dog fencing but the main reason is we have snakes, quite a few of them and to leave dogs out running around is an invitation for a dead dog. A few years ago I built a chainmesh yard that attached to my dog runs so when I am not home they can go into that as well as the runs, but I can also seperate them if required ie recovery from injury or a bitch in season etc. In my dog runs are crates, the dogs choose to sleep in them. I also have one in the house, they quite often choose to go into that, but mainly choose the lounge or bean bag. My dogs are not outside in the large house yard unless I am with them, I now have Whippets and I also have roo's, rabbits and snakes. They are in their yard with a selection of toys and generally they sleep, sometimes they get up to move to follow the sun. I will go out all day and leave them there knowing they are safe, would they prefer to be with me? probably but that is not always practical and I refuse to allow having dogs stopping me going to town for the day and not doing all the jobs I need to because the dogs are locked up, or not going out for tea for a few hours etc. Recently one of my dogs had TPLO surgery she was confined to a crate for nearly 24hrs a day except for toilet breaks. If you didnt know she was in there you wouldn't have known she was quite, not stressed and coped extremely well. While I am sure she would ahve prefered to be on the lounge she couldn't. I believe my dogs are well stimulated and have quite an enjoyable life. I can't always do what I want to, neither can they, that is just life. Personally I wouldn't lock my dog in a crate all day unless recovering from injury, nor would I lock my dog in a house all day, but that is me.
  22. Thank you I was on my phone and trying to be tricky, I didn't pull it off :)
