  1. I am quite excited I have actually found meat that one of my dogs can actually eat raw without getting very sick :) Now we have found that they have more raw, but still a mixture of dry and raw and are rather hardy animals
  2. Really??????? No vet clinic I have ever worked in was paid for selling any food. I would love to know who does actually get paid for selling dog food
  3. I have wondered the same. Kei is a solid dog with quite a bit of muscle and weighs around 37kg - so very different to Lewis. I'm assuming that the dose/size of the implant remains the same regardless of the size of the dog, so perhaps the guidelines (ie 6 or 12 months) are a minimum and based on a larger breed dog? It would be interesting to know how very small breeds go with the Suprelorin. I believe the the guidelines are based on a 25kg dog from memory. My dog is 28kg and his 6 month implant seemed to run out right on the 6 month mark ("Hello testicles!"). He has the 12 month implant now. I'm still watching this thread OSo. :D Ahh I hadn't seen that guideline. Lewis is 14.5kg or there abouts so I guess that could explain the doubled time. I really wish I had of used the 6 month one! And here I was thinking I was talking too myself :) I hope over time others find this information useful as I could find very little when I went looking
  4. Yes I agree with you. The base is it has to last for at least 12 months in a large dog. So if you have a 5 kg dog that is quite a large dose, could it potentially last 4 times as long??? I hope over time more people add their experiences.
  5. Ah I thought I was talking to myself :D I wonder if the fact he is smaller with lower body fat has anything to do with it??? I will be interested to see how long you boys 12month implant lasts. The vet was quite shocked when I said the dog WITH testosterone was far better to live with and train than the one without!!!! :)
  6. OKay another update if anyone is checking. Today I took Lewis and Rommi in to get a semen sample from Lewis. We did get a sample and he did have semen. However, his count was lower than they would expecta dn the motility of the sperm were not as good as they would expect. So at this stage yes he is fertile but considered to have low fertility. The conclusion is, this might just be the way he is naturally, or it might be this way due to having the implant and it only seeming to wear of fairly recently - ie the last two months. They have said I can re-test him when Rommi is next in season - which is around 10 months - or mate them and if she has no or low puppies then his fertility is low, and if she has a normal to large litter then it is back to normal. So some good and not so good news. I am thinking - maybe wishing??? - that the sprem count/motlilty is due to him only fairly recently having the implant wear off fully. It has been probably around 8 weeks now since his testicles started rapily growing back to normal. I guess time will tell if I am right or not. His behaviour is much more like it should be. He was actually pawing at the fence and whinging this morning where he normally wouldn't do that, yes he would show interest and mate and tie - for long periods - but he is whingy and racing to the fence, really showing a lot of interest compared even to the visiting bitch that came into season in September. I might just be wishing but I guess time will tell. Fingers crossed he gets normal fertility back in time :)
  7. I know someone who deals with them in her Whippet often. I will find what she does and let you know.
  8. There is a book Poisonous2Pets - I have a copy and it is a fantastic reference. It covers heaps of plants, tells you what systems it affects and the signs and syptoms of poisoning.
  9. Double bummer. go on, do a fourth order What the heck, it's Christmas. I'm going back See now when I get in trouble for my second order, I'll say 'but Labradork did 4!!!!' Oh that might work *******toddles off to see if there was anything she missed the first few times around*****
  10. I would be interested in your impresions. :) I have seen them and crosses before but never had to deal with them closely and on a daily basis. I am making sure one exercise yard is escape proof and unable to be climbed out of as I hear they are as nimble as a cat and I won't risk her climbing out. All the runs are escape proof but the yards are not fully enlosed(as in over the top) - yet!Theya re 1.8metres high adn double fenced but I am not taking any risks. Will let you know how I find her :) When I was a young child a local lady had a Fox she kept as a pet. He has his own run and a very securely fenced yard and was only taken out on a leash, not that he seemed to mind, he loved pats and was a very curious creature. I don't remember him smelling? but I was only around 5 I would be seriously putting a roof on the pen or yard. Jodi my cattle girl would leave any time she decided the pups needed a fresh chicken and she wasnt a dingo. she was a rokeglen red cattledog, she was a very agile lump. benni our sons cattledog too could not be contained unless it had a roof. not worth the drama after the event, I assure you The dog runs do have a fence over the inside and outside. The exercise yard does not - yet. We are putting netting around the top on a 30 degree angle and a metre wide. This will stop her climbing out and from everything I have read, stop her jumping out. I have explained that to her owner and she is more than happy with that. If not I will toilet and exercise her on a longline. Trust me I DO NOT EVER want to lose someone's dog. It is something I will avoid at all costs.
  11. I can almost guarantee (and I say almost purely because I don't know exactly which pics you've looked at) the pics you're looking at would have been caused by pressure necrosis which happens when the collar is left on a dog for too long (read: weeks or months). The same injuries can occur any type of collar, including flat collars, check chains etc. MAkes sense. I have seen some terrible collar induced injuries.
  12. I would see a behaviourist now, a qualified one. This is ringing serious alram bells for me. I have seen puppies like this - yes Labradors - and they should never have been bred. They did not improve. This puppy needs professional help now.

  14. Oh I just checked and thought it looked reasonably the same??
  15. Last night's conversation: Me: Oh, I put the Clean Run order in today Mr TSD: Good work! Me: I ended up getting 2 of the Kong Wobblers Mr TSD: And that was MY idea in the first place! You kept saying "but we only really need one" Me: Puppy is coming Wednesday Mr TSD: OK Hahahaha well that was too easy :) is puppy staying or temporary :) I am quite sure I wouldn't get away with that!
  16. Last night I got asked if I had ordered the toys when I answered yes I got a oh thats good reply.......................now I wonder what he is after???
  17. Yep great idea, now find one that will and let everyone know.
  18. Seems I am going to be boarding a Dingo shortly. I am interested to she what she is like to handle
  19. Well I think it is brilliant but I am not sure exactly what you mean?
  20. He's a keeper!!! My thoughts exactly. My conversation went a little like this. You know that American shop that has all the cool toys I like? Yes They have free shipping, even for international orders Oh thats good. Yep, I am going to go ordering, it is very exciting Okay......wanders off giving me a slightly perplexed look as to why it would be just that exciting.
  21. Alarm bells going off for me, the way they have written their email is also sending off alarm bells. I am not sure why they would bother mentioning the Thoroughbred breeders association in relation to Beagles. Things like they are from 4 generations of purebreds.....................that should go without saying, when we are registered with the AMKC (their typo) they will look at going into larger scale production. Their English is not so great - not a major crime in it's self but I wonder of it is a scam. I would start looking on the DOL breeders pages and go from there I think.
  22. You could always sew polar fleece sleeves around the bits with less padding than you would like?
