Yes, Souff has wondered about this too. Perhaps there were already a few extras on board, or a few pregnancies already confirmed, before the media conference when they brought them on board, 2 by 2. People since have used a bit of poetic licence methinks. As they do. Noah probably thought in terms of "at least 2". That is how a collector would think. Souff

Yes, it is hard to complain when you are under water.

Trough, Yarracully, trough. Not bowl. Any initially stressed creatures would almost certainly have been managed with a little bit of some of those exotic spices and 'erbs and a little bit of that stuff that comes from poppiesprobably. A little bit of harp music would filter around the deck .... aaaah bliss. There would have been no distress at all I imagine. A peaceful cruise on troubled waters. Souff

Yes, I suspect that old Noah would be the patron saint of all animal collectors and would have just thumbed his nose at the council, as all collectors do. Don't worry about the food ..... they would have a load of dried food on board with them, but in those days you didnt get a choice of brand with the dried food and it didnt come in packets either.

Well she wont be hurting any more police dogs, or ramming police cars, in her current premises. Hopefully she will be at a similar address for a good length of time. Souff

Oh I think ole Jed will like your answer .... will probably send it on to Jemima Scuttlebutt.

NO.... the flood never got anywhere near Portugal .... would have ruined the grape crop!

OMG, I just realised something...... Kev's climate change disciples who maintain that the sea levels are rising will be latching on to this ..... there will be another ark being built on a property somewhere, modelled on the Mt Ararat version. Yes, you will soon be able to buy Ark Plans on the net, alongside the organic mung beans and Mt Ararat soil to rub into wrinkles will be available in cans (packaged in China of course). Souff

Yeah yeah yeah .... that is what the wolf theory devotees will be saying. Perhaps Australia and Asia remained untouched by the flood ... so the dingoes were safe anyway. And was Noah's Ark before or after the Pyramids were built and the hanging gardens of Babylon .... will have to get a time line in here somewhere. Could get very messy. There dogs illustrated in carvings in ancient Egyptian and Babylonian architecture , and there are cave art dogs in France and India and other places ... I mean how do we know that Noah got them all on to the boat anyway? WOnder if he asked the RSPCA to help him ..... Everyone laughed at him for building such a big boat and they ended up blowing bubbles, while he saved the animals and the birds and things Best rescuer ever .... though he could have tossed the snakes overboard. Souff

Nope, no gun dogs on board. No guns back then. I suppose the cat people will also be clawing to claim which breed of cat was in the ark too. That could get ugly ...... Souff

Well, the media tells me this morning that they have found Noah's Ark on Mount Ararat. Of course Souff knew it was there all the time but people dont always believe Souff ... dont know why. Now the fun begins ....... Only 2 of each SPECIES were taken on board by Mr and Mrs Noah. So there were 2 dogs, and one presumes there was 1 male and 1 female. The burning question is: WHICH BREED OF DOG? I can see that the hound group will be claiming they were definitely hounds. The herding people will be claiming, no, they had to be herders to help get all those other animals rounded up and on to the ark in the first place. The terrier group will be claiming they would have been terriers to keep the rats and mice from being in plague proportions and eating all the grain that had been kept safe from the flood. And so on and so forth ...... DNA "experts" will be wanting to crawl all over the poor old ark ...... and then will try to tell us that everything from a Yorkie to a Great Dane were on board. Oh yes, this could be as good or better than the "was the wolf or the dingo first?" conundrum. hehe Souff

There has to be a better way. Full marks to the newspaper that gave the story some coverage. Souff

Oh, dont be too disturbed, they have a lot of "slow news days" in South Australia .... I too think it is ludicrous, but funny too .... the comedy show writers will already have it filed under "material" :D

Oh well, people should speak clearly ..... "guide dog" not pronounced clearly could easily sound like "gay dog" and some of our Asian restaurant staff would probably pronounce it just like that as well. Hope they managed to get a meal elsewhere

Rspca Shelters In Uk To Turn Away Unwanted Pets And Strays
Souff replied to gillbear's topic in In The News
No worries. If you care to switch that light on, you will see that this was a thread about RSPCA Shelters in the UK Turning Away Unwanted Pets and Strays. Are you still representing the pet owners? Souff -
And this is the spirit that will keep organisations like MDBA going long into the future.

Could you please explain the meaning of "psuedo compulsory"? And, btw, the correct spelling is "pseudo" Souff

Rspca Shelters In Uk To Turn Away Unwanted Pets And Strays
Souff replied to gillbear's topic in In The News
It was not a joke. And I did not suggest that grieving relatives be harassed either. People do need to plan as to what happens at their funeral sadly. When the arrangements are made by others there is quite a bit of guesswork if you don't leave explicit instructions. My brother attended the funeral of a mate who loved animals and family members (who lived a long way from him) thought they were doing the right thing by having envelopes for the RSPCA at the door. They found out later that he was totally down on them because they shot the lady's cows at Pilliga. His neighbours knew how he felt, but the family members learned later. His mates thought that would have preferred the envelopes be for the local Rotary or Lions clubs, but he didnt leave instructions to that effect. Souff -

Tacky, CL, very tacky. Trick is for people to make sure WHAT nominated charity or cause they want to be collected for at the church ...... BEFORE THEY BECOME the "newly departed". Sometimes the grieving family haven't been given any prior instructions and because the ND liked animals it goes this way, when in fact the "newly departed" may have preferred it to go elsewhere. Rspca Shelters In Uk To Turn Away Unwanted Pets And Strays

Puggles and Souff are in total agreement with these statements. HOWEVER ...... We all have ability. Ability is one of the greatest strengths. It is HOW we use our ability, and our knowledge, that is important. And particularly, how we use any power given to us .... that is critically important. There are a zillion animal lovers in this country but the organisation that is supposed to help prevent cruelty, seems to have got the backs up on an awful lot of these people, most of whom have done absolutely nothing wrong and would lay down their lives to help animals. And many of these people were once the allies and supporters of the RSPCA. Power is a very useful thing to have, but if you wield that power the wrong way .... then maybe, just maybe, that is not the best use of power? Some teachers of teenagers in years gone by wielded their power in a similar way. Result? Aggro anti-social kids who hated school, hated any figure of authority, always in trouble, and thought the world owed them. The 27%ers. Other teachers who worked alongside these kids, gave the kids incentives to feel better about themselves as well as their work, THEY were the teachers who could bring out the best in the formerly "difficult" teenagers. They were not soft, they used the same syllabus, but they encouraged the kids to do better and to become good citizens. They got good results that lasted. Not a quick fix. Working WITH the animal lovers, instead of working agin them and making rules "to catch them" could lead to a better result all round. And that free up precious resources so that the culprits of real animal cruelty can be dealt with, to focus on improved rehoming programs, and on more widespread desexing progams. jmho Souff -
Congratulations Ruthless! The MDBA can also take a bow for having these awards and bringing some nice positive doggy news to the attention of the media. Souff

Rspca Shelters In Uk To Turn Away Unwanted Pets And Strays

Are you sure? OK I concede defeat. I'm well and truly outnumbered and not making many friends (RSPCA might give me a job though). Maybe I should have joined an extremist animal activist forum - I think I was accused of wanting to end pet ownership in another thread My OH is so embarrassed by me he threatened to disconnect our internet and said if I told one more person why buying certified organic free range eggs was so important he was leaving me I am honestly going to try harder to keep my mouth shut :D I honestly know the RSPCA do some crazy things. Just recently up here in North Qld they tried to take a horse off a lady who had fostered her and nursed her back to health, saying she owed them money or something. The media got hold of it and they backed off I think. But I think they do do the occasional good thing amidst it all and some shelters in particular are trying to make a difference. In all honesty, I think more qualifications should be required for the people that work there rather than just being an "animal lover". Then again, maybe they do - I just don't get that impression. Think I should get some sleep now Oh no, defeat is such a negative word! It knocks morale totally..... Enjoy those organic free range eggs, they ARE good for you. And remember the Desiderata .... despite all the turmoil, the world is still a beautiful place. As long we have our dogs Sleep needed here too .... -
Just awful. Just awful.
