I guess that is without a lens kit. I see they have the Canon 1000D with Twin IS Lens Kit for $1193 - but I think that is an online price. JB Hi Fi are on my list of stores to ring. I might try ShopRite actually (part of my union membership) they are supposed to help hunt down good prices It was with a twin lens kit

I got my Canon 450D for $1240 with a free bag at JB Hi-Fi. They beat the internet price I had and the price from the goodguys without even checking up on it.

I guess you can use other subjects rather than just people. This is two of a light house I took. I think it comes under the category (please correct me if I'm wrong im a bit when it comes to my new camera ) 1st one was wrong not the exact same shot, but i did a meter reading of the lighthouse in the second one. Here is my attempt at a silhouette Feel free to give me any tips and pointers on how to improve -
I don't have many of Scout and I together. Here are 2 of only about 8

Dry Cough After C5 Vacc
black magic replied to mrs tornsocks's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My Lab puppy was given the kennel cough spray vaccine at the vet on sat evening. Last night I awoke at 1am to hear her coughing really bad, almost sounded like she was choking, or trying to cough up something and she did throw up a little bit of white phlegm like stuff I was wondering if the vaccine can cause a case of kennel cough? I wrote that on the forum after Scout had hers. The sound of her coughing was horrible -

Thanks for your help Ashanali, your info is very easy to understand I have only had my camera about 6 weeks, and joined up for a short basic photography course, I haven't found it to be very good, I don't find the teacher to be very clear or easy to follow. Your instructions in the last two challenges have taught me more than the class has. Thanks heaps. Here are my first attempts. They are my wedding shoes.

I have to laugh cause I gave their number to someone today and said the same thing. I was a tad disappointed when OH took Scout last week and I had to work. I had read this, too. My little guy, Ollie, hurt himself yesterday. When we got home from work, he was limping quite badly, holding his front right paw off the ground. He cried when we touched it (he is a big sook anyway). After sitting quiet for about three hours (getting cuddles from his dad ), he got up and walked like nothing was wrong. He is fine today, too. I just want to make sure that nothing has happened that may cause anything further later on. I have nothing but praise for both of them. Scout hurt her back and we were told she was OK by the vets, and that she was just being a princess. I knew she wasn't right as no amount of encouragement would get her on to my bed (very rare) So we went and saw Gary, he found her problem right away. We had two consults with him (very reasonable $) and then just had a follow up to make sure all was still OK. Gary wasn't in So Scout saw Neil. OH said he was fantastic, and that he went all the way over Scout, looked at all her joints, flexion, extension etc and didn't just look at the problem area. OH said he took heaps of time with Scout and was just as kind and calm as Gary. Our 12mth old lab loves them both, she is so calm when they treat her, and I put it down to the fact that both men love the animals and are so confident and calm around them. I am extremely happy with the service that both have provided us with and will continue to use either of them in the future. we travel over an hour to see them and I would travel further if they moved

Wow. look at those muscles I wish I was as toned as that

You never know they may come back to have some further training with you in the future? It must be hard when you have built up a strong bond with a dog then have to say good bye. I'm a preschool teacher and find it hard sometimes to say goodbye to some of the children that i've built up a bond with (have to laugh because it's the hypo, personailty plus ones that I bond with most :p ) when they leave for big school. I'm glad a lab touched your heart mine certainly has firmly placed her paw print in mine.

I got these purely by accident :D I had the camera as I was about to download some photos I took of my newborn niece. Scout wanted to go to the toilet so I let her out. She has a habit of stopping for a drink from the tap on her way past. As she was drinking I thought oh I should give it a go. I have no idea what i'm doing so it was a fluke. it kind of worked though. Have no idea on the panning though and some from the first day I got the camera almost got there (note to self: next time try and get the subject within the frame ) my niece just cause she is so cute

What's the point when they're all lumped in the one category? I may as well let my girls run riot and quit training now, and feed them up nicely. I'm not saying my girls are perfect, they are far from it and do have the exuberant Lab personality that some people aren't that big a fan of, but give me full of life anyday  Some of the "typical Lab traits" that have been mentioned here are displayed by many breeds, it's called being a dog! I actually look at it the other way round and agree with what Jess said. I own a SBT cross, "staffies" as everyone knows are a popular dog also prone to stereotyping. Just yesterday a woman said to me "staffies are different from other dogs they are more primeval they just turn" Obviously that is an extreme view (but her dog had in the past been attacked by what she said was a 35kg (!!!) "staffy" and had severe nerve damage so obviously that coloured her view. But instead of getting defensive, I try to look at it this way, the stereotype does have some foundation, lots of people get staffords for the wrong reasons, like labs they can be overexhuberant, they are not an "easy" dog to own and they need attention, exercise and discipline otherwise they will not grow up to be good canine citizens. That is why I try to may sure that my dog is a good example of the good side of the breed. I am not going to defend every stafford because there are some dodgy ones out there who (through the fault of their owners same way as labs can be overweight or over exhuberant) are dog aggressive, or over exhuberant and a general PITA. Saying all staffys are wonderful snugglebums and I can't understand why everyone wouldn't want them is doing a disservice to the breed IMO, we want to attract the right kind of owners who will put the time in not the wrong. Getting back to labs I think that a lot of people do view them as the easy family dog (and don't get me wrong there are many lab traits that warrant this tag) and won't put the time in to exercise and train them. Like SBT's there are also a fair few BYB's of labs out there who would sell a dog to anyone without taking the time to see whether they are a suitable home. I agree with what your saying, and think you wrote it well. I was feeling defensive with some of the other posts that appeared to be putting ALL labs into that "bad" box. My experience as a first time dog and lab owner has been a very positive one. However I did do my research when getting a dog well, and found a registered breeder that I felt would help me out if needed, had dogs with exeptional temprements and that I felt happy with. It is sad like you said, that there are so many BYB out there that are selling dogs to homes that aren't suitable.

Well There is one common link that we all have in this thread, It's that we all agree that on most occasions it's the humans that need a kick up the bum. and that individuals need to research any breed properly before they buy them to make sure they fit their lifestyle and can ensure time for training and interactions are included in the day.

They are absolutely perfect, stop being SO humble! They are great. Well done

I Give Up With Training Diesel
black magic replied to Kavik's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Not sure if you have a chiro that you have used before, but we have used the chiro Gary Barnsley from animal holistic therapies in Greendale (west syd) for Scout. He was great with her and treated her for a back problem she had. -
The photos are all fantastic. I have no idea what I'm doing with my new camera at the moment I'm stuck on auto so have booked in to do a short course to help me out. I love the light man The horse shots are amazing, I loved them. really showed how beautiful and powerful horses are.

I understand that everyone has the right to an opinion, and of course not everyone is going to like the same types of dogs, but have to say that this is a definite overgeneralisation of the breed. Perhaps the "type" of owners should be looked at rather than the breed of dog. Are the owners of these dogs ones that don't spend much time with their dogs, training etc and see daycare as an alternative to interacting/training their pets. Are they including them as part of the family? There are types of dogs that I don't like due to interactions that I've had with them, however I wouldn't ever say that all dogs of that breed are the same, as I'm sure for every bad one i've met there, would be a great one out there, so how would it be fair of me to say that every dog from that breed fits into the same box or deserves that label It may be an overgeneralisation of the breed but I'm going to back Kavik up here. I managed a dog boarding kennel and over the years met hundreds and hundreds of different labs. I doubt you'd find a kennel worker out there who doesn't have labs at the top of their list to stay away from. Don't get me wrong Scout is lovely, but a lot of people see Labs as a great family dog (which they are) and don't spend the time training them. Its then that problems go wrong. My own aunt was one of those people that bought a lab and really shouldn't of - shes never listened to me regarding dogs. They rehomed their last dog (a lab) at 12 months because she was uncontrollable. That's what gets me frustrated it's mainly human error causing the problems and label that the dogs have to live with.
