black magic replied to Tapua's topic in General Dog Discussion
What a lovely update! Glad to hear all is great -
I've spoken to Anne from Aralyen ( Located in Maraylya ) about a mature dog she once had available, she seemed very nice, does health checks and was very interested in seeing her dog going to a good home.

Hey Mrs T Archie saw them at our place last year! We were all playing games outside when they were going off and neither of them could have cared less, they were way to interested in playing to even notice them We had people across the road letting them off last night really loud ones. It was really hot here so we had doors and windows open, Scout didn't care at all. It was the people leaving and coming to the party that she gave a few warning barks at. I'm glad she isn't fazed by them it makes me feel happy that if we ever have someone let them off at a party during the year and we are not home that she will cope OK.

2 Big Staffies Moving In Next Door
black magic replied to dreamelicious's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry that you had a bad experience previously. I think it's really important that you don't paint every staffy with the same brush following your prior bad experience. Your neighbours may have two exceptional examples of the breed. If I had any dog moving in next door regardless of breed and I was worried about my dog due to a previous dog attack I would look at my fencing to see if it is adequate just to make sure my dog "felt" secure. I second talking and getting to know your neighbours. -
Best Breed For Your Average First Time Dog Owner
black magic replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Totally agree with this post. also wanted to add that I think these topics are a bit pointless. Why are these topics a bit pointless, so that newbies can remain totally in the dark???. Who has to consider the owners personality Poodlefan, who is responsible for that consideration, who undertakes that role when a newbie is considering to get a dog??? Breed 101 offers a wealth of info about breeds. Why not go through there and get some info. I think these threads end up with many (not all) people offering suggestions based on their own personal preference of breeds. -

I just watched it. That poor but very lucky puppy. Snail bait worries me. We have heaps of snails around our yard (it doesn't worry me because I don't have a garden) But our back neighbours have a garden and grow vegies and the fact that they could use snail bait worries me. I only just finished having a whinge to my OH about the back fence that we had meant that snails or bait could make its way through to our yard. My whinging to him paid off and he has put a big fence up the back yard. I'm so glad it is up now after watching this.

I got a bone shape cookie cutter at a home ware shop. Not sure where in Syd you are, but I have seen some a few weeks back at a stall in Westfield Miranda. It was in one of those shop stands that are set up in between shops. ETA if you get stuck I can post mine to you to use

Scout will get my slippers when I ask. She was always stealing them and trying to get a game of chase so I taught her to change the stealing to retrieving

Some Very Bad News About Tobias, He Has Lymphoma

I'm so sorry. It made me cry too. I'm sure Tobias will have the best time with you even if it is only going to be a short time. Take care -
While walking Scout this morning I saw a young boy on his scooter being pulled along by a kelpie (I'm no good with guessing ages of breeds I don't know well, but I'd say the dog was about 6mths old) they were flying along the bike/walking track. I actually said to my OH, "My gosh look at that kid, that's pretty dangerous". Next minute right in front of us the puppy crossed into the path of an oncoming bike and was run over The bike rider tried his very hardest to avoid them but due to how fast everyone was going they collided. The poor puppy was run over by the bike, I saw him being flipped over the boy (about 8yo) also came off his scooter. I can still hear the yelp and crying of the puppy and it breaks my heart. This should never have happened. The poor puppy was in such a state of shock that it peed as it sat there injured. I held Scout and my OH ran over, the puppy had blood coming from his nose and my OH said his paw looked like it had been injured. The little boy was in shock too (he was upset about the blood and the wee) we finally got out of him where is mum was (a good 30-40metres behind him) She finally clicked that something had happened and ran up to where we were. OH advised them to take the pup to the vet. OH said the mother said to the boy, "see what happens? now I have to carry the dog back to the car" OH was shocked. he actually offered to carry the dog back for them, but then said to me he was cranky she had said that to the boy as she would have been the one that allowed him to be pulled along by the dog in the first place on such a busy walkway. The poor bike rider (also a dog lover looked quite shaken to) I hope the puppy is OK. He was a beautiful looking dog quite striking
