Clever Idea Arcane! DO you find the rubber marks light coloured dogs at all? I have a table with a black rubber top that leaves black smudges on damp dogs? If this doesn't then I am going shopping :D

One of my grooming clients lost her darling little Papillon to a dog park accident, they were there on their own didn't see people enter the park with a young Lab, who in turn didn't see the Pap owner and her dog because the owner was sitting on the grass. Lab bumped the Pap at speed and broke its neck. Both parties were devastated, Yes I am sure it could have been prevented, but accidents happen and it is too late afterwards to say what if or but Owning a very strong and extremely playful Lab myself I can see exactly how it happened, just a tragic accident.

Diamonds and Pearls by Petway Petcare lovely shampoo :)

Stitched wounds really need to be kept dry whilst healing, so no lotions or potions is usually the best.

Curash Powder here too packed on :)

I haven't researched into the minimum age, my own personal thoughts however is that I would not use it until after a dog was fully mature. Simply because I prefer my dogs to be allowed develop fully before I interfere. I don't know what breed you have, but certainly for large breeds I would not use it that young.

In my experience no :)

Skye Terrier In Blacktown Pound
Crisovar replied to Boronia's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I had a dodgy scanner for a while, didn't realise it was playing up till something similar to Rebannes post occurred. I have also had a dog with a chip that migrated down to basically the armpit of the dog, if the dog was standing with its elbow tight against its chest the scanner couldn't pick it up, it was a fluke after many attempts to locate it that the dog was standing weird with its elbows out and it was picked up by chance. We all rely on chips and the system working but technology farts and the law of shit happens sometimes win. -
Stopped A Dog Attack This Morning...

Why do people continue to claim that a DA dog will maul small children for heavens sake. DA & HA two different issues. -
You can form a Breed Social Club that is recognised by your state controlling body. Your states controlling body rule book should have the guidelines :)

The OP asked about shelters and people have responded to that question :)

Many animal nutritionists agree that the removal of cooked grains and plants from the nightshade family like tomato, potato, capsicum, eggplant etc can help to ease or prevent inflammatory diseases like arthritis and skin problems. Certainly these things have the same effect with us humans.

The get paid for Euthing them, they wouldn't care if none were adopted it is no loss to them.

I would go for the most suitable dog and if it was what I was looking for it wouldn't matter which shelter/pound it was in.

The vast majority of Breeders will certainly take back or assist in anyway they can to help one of their own. It is certainly also not unheard of for breeders to quietly save unknown dogs of their breed from pounds and rehome them, there are quite often networks of breeders that willingly assist with this. I have had quite a few lovely dogs of different breeds for short visits or airport connections due to this. I don't understand the reluctance of some rescue groups to allow them to help them however. If Breeders and breed rescue groups are interested in taking on their own what is the big deal, it certainly lessens the burden. Breeder acquaintance offered to take one of his back that had unbeknown to him been rehomed to a very unsuitable home and due to its fence hopping antics ended up in the pound. A rescue group took the dog on and Breeder discovered this via the doggy telegraph, group wouldn't allow the Breeder to take dog back or even suggest someone with a possible home (he had a waiting list). Dog escaped from an unsuitable foster carers backyard so they shuffled the dog around several times before eventually a breed fancier managed to get hold of the dog. The rescue group didn't want the dog going into the Breeders kennels, when this would have been the safest and most sensible option to start with, and save a rather stressed dog being loose on the streets several times. I thought we were all in it for the dogs.

Greyhound Racings Dirty Little Secret Exposed
Crisovar replied to Greyt's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry, but I can't stand that little saying applied to animals. It's only used by people so poor that the arse is falling out of their pants to justify why they have racing dogs when clearly they cannot afford proper care for them. There's food, parasite prevention, dental care, the list goes on. What else do these bogans' kids miss out on so they can continue to race dogs? Greyt, the TAB would get rid of dog racing in QLD and replace it another 1000 pokie machines in a heartbeat. Dog racing is the least profitable form of gambling for them. It is the state governments that regulate exactly what the TAB is allowed to invest in. It is the government that would need to be lobbied to see real changes in welfare rather than just getting an empty PR response from the industry. Unless things are made laws, and there is enforcement, people will continue to make money from greyhounds with no regard to welfare. Still on about Bogans Working class families that had a treasured Whippet capable of hunting for bunnies are bogans? A Whippet that could put food on the table and as an aside participate in fun match races, harmless working class leisure pursuit, but that makes them bogans You really have a Bogan issue don't you. -
It is pretty sad when people cannot use their entire yard for their own use and quiet enjoyment without passers by having a whinge. As an aside none of my neighbours are up early enough to see when my dogs are exercised so I guess they think mine are neglected yard bound savages too.

Just the way it should be. :D

Deliberately Trying To Get Bitten..or Maybe He's An Idiot..
Crisovar replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would look into the legalities of electric fencing first :) if the man is that much of a problem he will have you for that as well. Secure locked runs for when you are not home, an internal fence to keep your dogs off the boundary, documented evidence of his threats and actions towards your dogs, keep a diary, put in a complaint to the police and speak to your ACO. I would move :) -
Latest Research On Prong & Check Collars
Crisovar replied to luvsdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Very true and sometimes we simply have to do what we need to do at the time :) -
Yep, the Pack Leader is pretty much what it is, if that makes some people sad then so be it. I don't know why it is such an issue. I don't associate any of it with alpha rolls or dominating, simply keeping control for everyones benefit.
-
As long as dogs live alongside humans there have to be rules (same goes for everything really)and in any society there are leaders, for it all to work safely and amicably dogs lives with us have to have structure and boundaries, we as the humans in this sense are the leaders that put those in place. So in reality yes we have some sort of pack structure. How we train dogs and how we look at their behaviours may have moved on but it is still about us keeping control over them so we can all live happily together.

First rule of using Grooming arm is not to leave the dog unattended :) If your dog is going to carry on and you are that concerned buy a control frame that allows you to use a second loop under his tummy as well as the head restraint. A halti attached to the side of the grooming arm as well as the top loop can be effective too. A Groomers Helper is the same idea. Most dogs are quite happy to stay calmly on the table with no restraints.
