  1. There is a huge difference between clipping the coat of a Poodle and double coated breed, huge. I don't know how many repeatedly clipped off double coated breeds you see, but I deal with dozens of them. Beautiful full coated animals with correct coat texture that turn into thick gross carpets. Many owners rue the day they made the decision to clip.
  2. Sometimes you have to try several different antihistamines to find one that works for your individual dog. Try the phenergan for about 10 days and gauge the response, if it is easing the symptoms you can have a break of 3 - 5 days then try another antihistamine. What is it that your dog reacts to?
  3. Don't get a Whippet if the possums are free range and you are attached to them, possum hunting is a favourite Whippet activity. Is your house yard bandicoot proof? They like those too! Other than that a Whippet would be an excellent choice.
  4. . You are blissfully ignorant to how responsible & passionate Breeders think and act Sandgrubber, you continue to push your barrow full of hatred and disdain, and aim your sights on anyone that dares to set foot in the show ring or celebrate the wonderful creatures that are dogs. Was it you we saw bundled off as the BIS judge was introduced. What was it on the banner that you were going to hold against your heaving breast. If you honestly believe that all Breeders are in the same boat, that no one gives a damn about health and welfare then you do not mix with right people. I do not think that there is a Breeder here on this forum that would deny that we have to strive for healthy sound animals as the pinnacle of achievement. It would be possible for anyone with depth of knowledge of any of the breeds represented to sit and find fault with those on show, there is no perfect dog and we all acknowledge that. We however chose to celebrate the positive, the beauty and the occasion. You cannot even allow some acknowledgement of beautiful, well trained, well conditioned, happy dogs, without spitting your hatred and spreading your poison. What a negative sour soul you must be.
  5. Why not simply buy a short haired Border Collie? Same dog less coat. :D My biggest gripe with people insisting on clipping off breeds such as the B/C is that in my experience eventually the majority of owners get lazy, they develop an attitude of we are going to clip it off any way, so they neglect to groom the dog between clips. Also the time between clip lengthens and The result is a revolting thick sometimes almost impenetrable carpet that you wouldn't find a tick in anyway. With a well groomed unclipped coat I find that search daily by finger feel is quite easy. NOTHING replaces the need to check for ticks daily.
  6. I could take that Dachy home, what a super little dog!
  7. The BIS line was very impressive, super line up.
  8. One of the things on my bucket list is to attend Westminster and Montgomery County....so much to watch and learn.
  9. Some good news for a refreshing change Police Dog Honored
  10. What wonderful news After a terribly stressful couple of days for everyone I can imagine their relief today.
  11. I don't think the breed has any bearing, Sandgrub is just using this thread to once again have a go.
  12. I would be leaving the poor dog in hospital and not moving her around and in and out of cars. If she needs medicating then she can be injected and not have her head and neck moved around. Crushing meds into food is risking that she is not going to get the dosage she needs.
  13. There seems to be an increase in the amount of do gooders who hang on to lost animals and not go through the correct channels, or maybe they have always been around and they are more noticeable. Local classified sites on FB seem to be full of them. Some do not keep the animals themselves they pass them on to whoever wants them Chips do fail and they do migrate, sometimes scanners even have an off day so a quick once over scan may not pick up chips. I have 2 dogs with migrated chips one near an elbow the other on the sternum and we see them frequently at work.
  14. Thanks for that video Jed, lovely Peke! I watched a couple of the other breeds last night, it always lovely to see so many representatives of different breeds out there strutting their stuff.
  15. if I accidently hurt the dog bad enough then yes I would expect to get snapped at or bitten. The dog had only been spayed 3 weeks prior, it is a major operation, she would still be healing. Big difference to having your tail trod on, and how could the dog run away with a child laying on her? I agree, big difference.
  16. Your dog yelped, it may well have been from pain. I am not one to expect dogs to simply bear everything that is dished out to them by children, I would be enforcing some rules upon your child, and taking the dog for a check up a the Vet.
  17. As always will never know all the how whys ifs and buts. The Grey should not have been allowed to zoom into the space of the other dog. The other dog was on lead, and it may have been so simply because it had limited recall, we don't know. The lead broke, it may have been faulty, cheap and nasty whatever. A combination of things led to an ugly incident which I am sure the OP has now learnt from. I would not assume any thing else.
  18. I'd love to pay that price for rabbit here. One rabbit with some small change for $20.
  19. No dogs in the Kitchen, or on the beds, no cats on benches or tables.
