  1. People have the right to like or dislike anything they choose, it is how they express those choices that is interesting. Whether it be about life choices like children or pets, or tastes in fashion or food, how a person expresses themselves is very telling.
  2. And now everyone reading the topic notices your lack of understanding, and we can all laugh at your inability to follow a thread. I am glad you have been entertained.
  3. People like you yes I do. I cannot understand the need to be so openly RUDE.
  4. Babies are very noisy a lot of the time, and smelly a lot of the time and are pretty boring. They can't speak, they can't move properly and do nothing for me. But you say I am shallow because I can't find anything to appreciate in other people's babies? What can babies do that is so good? They cannot do any of the things that make adults appealing and good to be around. They don't even have a personality, they just have moods and impulses that they don't control. I think it is shallow when hormones take over parents' brains and suddenly this weak, noisy, smelly, boring, greedy thing is suddenly more important than anything and anyone else in the world. There is nothing appealing to me about babies, they are grotty, loud and annoying.Your affection is all in your head, and caused by the hormones designed to keep the species alive. Like a dog acting on its instincts to bury a bone, there is no deeper intellectual basis for you liking your baby, or you having a shot at the people that don't. As I said it is the open dislike that is hard to understand. For rudeness you actually get an "A" this morning.
  5. Whilst you may have ruled out diet as the cause, it is the foundation of your dogs health, if their immune system is out of whack then it affects everything.
  6. I find Malaseb far too drying and tends to add to the itch, unless you are treating some specific skin lesions etc I give it a miss. Vet strength EPO shampoo is an excellent shampoo and then QV oil in warm warm and rinse the dog in that. I do believe that a complete holistic approach to the itchy dog really does work in many cases, and looking at the diet and all other medications and products you use on your dog is a must.
  7. Maybe it is a requirement to identify the animal as being chemically neutered, since to anyone not knowing it would appear entire.
  8. Also reduces the risks of infection due to non surgical, highly beneficial if animals are going back to unclean conditions and I would imagine useful in dogs with clotting disorders.
  9. Definitely worth watching for news of this here in Australia. It could be very beneficial in animals could be at risk health wise from a GA and for mobile desexing clinics etc
  10. I must admit that the mislabeling of breeds is a bit of a bugbear of mine, I do think that most people would not know what a Mastiff was if they met one yet pretty quickly label anything large as one.
  11. Except she has about as much Mastiff in her as I have in my little toe :D
  12. If you are a Breeder (?) there is no real reason to own your own stud dog, also purchasing a male pup with the intention of using it for stud is a gamble, there are certainly no guarantees that the pup will make the grade, as you have now discovered. You would be far better of putting the time and effort into a good quality bitch and then choosing a suitable high quality stud for her when and if she makes the grade and you are ready to Breed.
  13. I think this thread was more trying to understand why some people show such open dislike of children, not so much why some choose not to be parents. There is a big difference.
  14. It could be argued that by keeping pets we are doing exactly that too ;)
  15. Way before the internet it was common to see Breeders with signs proudly displaying their kennel Prefix and Breed outside their properties. Breeders adds featured in the newspapers constantly. It was a different time and how things have changed, it is almost like Breeders have been driven underground, certainly we do not see them so proudly visible. Security risk are one reason for sure, but there are others that just make me shake my head. What a shame it is has come to this.
  16. The Mastiff is fairly uncommon sadly however there are some Queensland Breeders listed here Dogzonline Mastiff Breeders You may find someone nearby who has some dogs for your wife to meet. The dog show grounds at Durack hosts many large shows throughout the year and you may be lucky enough to come across some there. ETA You will find that the label mastiff is very loosely applied to anything large and boofy, so confining your search to places that only allow ANKC reg Breeders will narrow the field for you. Dogs Qld also have Breeder listings.
  17. The price you pay depends on who you buy from and where you are located. Blackhawk in this neck of the woods is $90 picked up.
  18. Just because they respond to an add doesn't guarantee they will get a dog there and then. They will still have to jump through a Breeders hoops and as we hear on this forum all the time that is not easy.
  19. Just because some impatient ninny responds to an add and wants a drive thru pup doesn't mean that a Breeder who advertises is going to sell them one ;)
  20. I think how the Breeders screens the right homes for their pups is far more important than where those homes found the Breeder. With the increasing number of grubs breeding for bucks I also think it is VERY important that good Breeders are highly visible. So YES, I think that it is more than OK for Breeders to advertise online, in the classies wherever. Breed clubs should run adds as well :)
  21. We source all our fresh meat and bones from the butcher and supermarket, due to not having any pet meat outlets. We shop around for the best buys, our Butcher does my chicken mince fresh for me from offcuts and frames, so it is always fresh and good quality,I also get cheek and heart from him and lamb bones, usually we get turkey necks from coles, the meatiest chicken frames from our IGA. Depending on where you live you may have pet meat outlets that supply good quality products at good prices. There is a sticky thread in Health that may help you with local info.
